      to me, Jane was born in the wrong country. She’s English, but her first language is French than English and she’s more praised in France than in the UK.

    I969, we discovered her on french TV and we felt in love with her unique grace, beauty and kindness She was also truly funny. A fairy in my opinion. Look at her !

    It’s quite frightening at just how heavy a smoker he was. A total chain smoker literally stubbing one out and lighting the next. I was read he averaged 120 unfiltered Gitanes cigarettes every day! A miracle he didn’t succumb to lung cancer or have his heart attack sooner than he did.
    Jane Birkin was a real English rose. She had the most beautiful voice and accent when she spoke her native English as well as when she spoke French with her charming heavy accent.

    'Serge would be very proud of you'.
    Said I.
    She was moved by that.
    I gave her Paris, a French poem I had written.
    The last line of which says,
    'Paris je t'aime.'
    Then came the movie.
    They were a pair.
    Although his greatest love was Brigitte Bardot.

    Jane appeared to be a kind compassionate down to earth person. However, her English speaking accent was upperclass having been educated at top English boarding schools. It seemed at odds with the bohemian character She portrayed. Todays standards quite ordinary except she was a tall lithe beauty in her 20s.

    JANE BIRKIN "the dream in the drawer" and in the THOUGHTS of all the boys of that time: her very sweet and sensual voice given to us when in 1969 she imprinted on vinyl the few phrases of the song JE T'AIME ... she made the world fall in love whole and not just the male one. She had CHARM and possessed a NIGHTMARE BEAUTY!!! She was also a successful woman in the arts for a good decade. I sincerely hope to be able to meet her BEAUTIFUL and HAPPY again in her new home and sing with JANE and endlessly a hymn that will vehemently make all the souls of heaven gasp: “JE T’AIME”…!!! 💔❤

    Wouldn't have had the nerve.
    Serge died from sensitivity.
    A rare condition where you are too aware of the tragedy and futility of life.
