- Today I'm using a single magazine to make a small art zine filled with simple doodled flowers. This is a great way to make collage fodder from magazines.

Oh dear - I'm so sorry to hear. Hugs!
@@Judymontel thank you ❤️
We sure have missed you… but totally understand that you have other things you are doing.. but dang wished you could or would come back to TH-cam part time anyway.., one of my all time fav TH-camr too!!!! 💜💜✌️
So sweet of you to say that, I appreciate you!
Such fun. So interesting to hear about the large zines, and the black and white glean.
I love your magazine zine and beautiful doodle flowers. Oh Audrey in magazine too ❤
Thank you Janet and thanks so much for taking the time to watch!
Love those flower & leaf doodles! Thanks for the tips!
You are so welcome!
Glad you made a video! I enjoyed seeing your picture of Audrey with her friend and love your zines (both old and new).
Thank you so much!
Hi Shannon! Awesome zine refresher! Love your humour and how you keep art simple for everyone. Yes…my inner doodle has been unleashed and inspired with your library of videos 😁TFS🌸
Oh that makes me so happy!! I sure do appreciate you taking the time to watch 🥰
This looks like such a fun project. Can’t wait to try it.
Go for it!
I’ve never seen you before but I love this tutorial and I’m sure gonna try it out. Nice one to do with granddaughter! Fun 👍❤️❗️😘
Oh yes, it’s perfect for the grands!
Thank you for including the step on glueing the borders of the zine pages together. I like how that gives it more structure. And my new favorite saying is “Sharpie don’t care“ 🤓
😂😂😂
So glad you're back!! Miss your videos. I'm in Oklahoma and I can't come to Arkansas to see your arts classes any longer but I thought about it! I'm too crippled up to make trips anymore but we both watch your videos congrats on getting your paper dressmaker model published locally! I stole pics of the page 12!!
😁🥰😁 thanks so much!!
Such fun! Thank you for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it!
So happy to see one of my fave TH-camrs uploading again ❤❤❤
Thanks Shona, so happy to upload again!
So cool!!❤
Thanks so much!
Great Idea .. Thanks for showing how you do them
You are so welcome!
I absolutely love this process! I just discovered your channel and I love it! ❤
I’m so glad we found each other!
Great to see you!😁
Thank you! 😁
YAY! Shannon's back!
Yay! 😁
Congratulations Shannon being showcased in the library with “Audrey” and in the publication👌you are amazing with your creations and art…and making such informative and entertaining videos… so glad you are doing classes now 👌‼️ You are my art guru that inspired me to start doing what I wanted to do but I just didn’t know how! Thank you for showing me how to be free and create my own style…I’m in need of making a “big Bertha” that should help me keep my mojo alive and moving! You’re so fun ‼️💚💚💚‼️ps… I have a confession, I didn’t follow your advice about keeping a basket of fodder and never go over that amount by saving excess. You said to use up that supply… well I have boxes of excess papers, envelopes, flyers, and cardboard plus cereal boxes😩All this excess fodder is taking my time away from fun crafting, because now I’m having to sort thru everything and eliminate 🤪 … Craft as you go, but I stock piled and lost control, time, and fun! Keep sharing your craft please, thank you!!!💚💚💚‼️
I’ve been right there with ya! Sometimes there’s a fine line between collecting a good supply of fodder to work with and having so much that you get overwhelmed by it.
Oh my goodness, Shannon you crack me up. Thank you for sharing your creativity with us. Love your zine ideas and your doodle flowers are awesome. Your workshop from your idea is going to be amazing. Happy crafting, Cheers, Deb ❤🥰🤗
Thanks so very much Deb!
I remember the Gleaner zine! So glad to see you back here! Zines are like art journals I guess! This is a very cool idea. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Oh wow...love your use of idle class...love your interview in it...Mainly I'm thankful my ipad screen didn't suffer from my mis- hearing🤩😉
😂😂😂
It is always good to see you when you grace us with your presence! You always inspire us.
I appreciate that!
Those flowers are awesome. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you like them!
I have missed you so much! You are such an inspiration to me.
You're the best!
Shannon, you are delightful to listen to. I love to hear you laugh. You are a hoot!! Thank you. I just had to look at your doodle video after I watched the one on My Vagabond life and she credited your video that she saw. Looks so fun I'll get around to it once I find my Roundtoit, don't know where I put it, probably hidden on my craft table (kitchen table).
When you find yours see if mine is with it! 😆
So nice to "see" you, Shannon! Love your zine. I lost most of my art supplies, I have to start hoard.. I meen collecting again. And I made a personal record and lost half of my junk journal 😂 Off to find my inner doodle, tfs, Fia
Oh no! I hate to hear that you lost your supplies but starting fresh might be a blessing in disguise. It’s nice to see you as well Fia!
Exactly the type of fun and relaxing craft I like doing while watching TV. 😊 Tfs.
Perfect couch craft!
Shannon I'm glad you're back. I love this tutorial and now have to add "zine" to my list of things to do, like it's not long already. LOL Thanks for reminding us how to make these and sharing your cute little doodle flowers with us. 🩷💮🩷
Thanks so much for watching!
Beautiful Shannon! Flower peddles aren't exactly the same in nature. I love how you make everything so clear. Today's Quote: ""Kindness is giving hope to those who think they are all alone in this world". Huge hugs. Namesta 🐞🐞🐞
Love that! 🥰
Compleat Shannon Green. Lovely to see a video from you again.
Thank you my friend!
Shannon I love love love these ideas! You are such an awesome inspiration ❤❤❤ LUVnHUGZ, Rita Donnelly
Thank you so much Rita!
Oh! I need to try this Thank you
Thanks for watching!
Good to see you create on YT. We have used your JB5 method of journaling on my channel often.
Oh that makes me so happy!! 🥰🥰🥰
❤ TFS, " inner doodle" lol!
I’m convinced it’s a thing! 😆
Great fun to get a video from you any time. I guess I need to go find the doodle I have inside and get it out 😆
Yes! I know it’s there! 😁
Hey Shannon! I haven't seen you in forever. Glad to see you back. I didn't realize until I watched this video the last journal I made is a zine. It's made from one sheet of paper from my health insurance. I've made the tiny zines before but never thought about my last one being one.
You were all trendy and on point and didn’t even realize it! 😁
I don't get gesso, either. The napkin liner is a good idea! These flowers turn out so nice!
Thank you! 😊
I live in Fayetteville and I’m
So excited to go see your work at the Faylib ❤. Would love to know about your workshops, too.
Oh I get so excited to meet new local folks!! For local workshops you can follow byShannonGreen on Instagram or subscribe to my newsletter here: eepurl.com/cOuc8n
Zines have been around for almost 100 years now and they go through a lot of trends. In the 90s when I first became familiar with them they were an alternative scene thing and had stuff about bands, teenage political opinions, things that were relevant to the grunge scene. Stuff like that. For us, they were black and white because you did them on the copy machine at your parents work. Sometimes in the 2000s, I saw them start getting professionally printed because the internet brought easy access to color printing. I've read ones that were basically someone's journal. They came in all sizes. There are no hard fast definitions to what a zine is. I did see a big change over to them being more artsy once colored printing was accessible.
I love how things evolve over the years!
@@ShannonGreen It is really neat and I think they say a lot about different parts of American culture at the time.
So glad that you are back! Us OG's missed you. What FUN flowers.
Awww, thank you!! 😊
Oh yes! Just what I needed. Listen - keep having those retreats and one of these days I'm gonna be there. It'll take me some time - but keep it UP!! Please!
And thanks for this wonderful video - really needed this today.
I sure hope we can meet in person some day!
Loved the photo of your Audrey. That's my daughter's name. Wish I could see a close up of her.
I’ll keep that in mind next time I share pictures of her!
So glad to see you here! You have been missed! Come back again anytime.
Thanks so much!
I stood in store, looking at magazines…I said to myself, “a new medium”
Zactly!
Shannon I saw the news about the tornadoes ripping through the Southern US. Hoping Taylor and you and family are okay. Of course I hope everybody there is okay but you know what I mean❤
Yes I do and all is well here in Fayetteville. A little to the north, not so much 😬
Shannon🎉😊! "Fast forward 20 years... " - isn't that one of the strangest sentences to say?! (So, if I rename and reformat my husband will everything be fresh and new again? 🤔 Enquiring minds want to know🤣.) Greetings to you and the fam from sunny and warm Toronto, Canada.
PS. Soooo glad that Audrey is being admired and appreciated in a public setting.
You might be on to something. I’ll start calling Jayson Steve and let you know how it goes! 😂
Young lady, did you come to us for a long time or so... for a quick visit? (LOL) Don’t you really have time to make a video? Of course, I also really miss you and your creativity, so I ask: do not deprive me and all of us of this pleasure.
Thank you my friend! I hope to see my TH-cam friends a little more often 🥰
So glad you woke up and decided to do a video. Made my day! How do I go about getting on your mailing list to attend any retreats or workshops you are going to be doing. I just retired and I am ready to travel and create!
Just add your information at the link below and I’ll keep you updated!

Thanks. I can’t wait to come and do a workshop with you in Fayetteville!
Shannon and Jayson oh my goodness, be still my heart you are here. I have missed you so very much. Hey to Taylor, is she still in Calli??? So incredibly good to see you once again.
Hi Judy, it’s good you “see” you again as well! Taylor is in Houston now which I’m very happy about since we get to see her more often!
Ooh you could doodle the flowers on the plain text page to put on top of a colorful zine background for contrast and you wouldn't have to do the napkin or gesso to knock it back.
Where were you when I was making it as difficult as humanly possible?! 😂
@@ShannonGreen well now you can use that tidbit in your workshop. Saves you a messy step that needs set time.
I started to watch said video. Then you mentioned losing my zine - so i had to turn it off...
🤣🤣🤣 It’s here, I just don’t know exactly where!
You are right about the Zines. Part of their definition is they are printed. A one-of-a-kind anything will never be a zine no matter how many youtube twinkies like the term so use it indiscriminately. Words have meanings. It would have been better served to explain, then NOT use the term incorrectly. It's NOT a zine.
Thanks for watching!
Looks like a zine is a glue book, maybe I'm wrong.
I can be printed as well. Zine is kind of a catch-all term for these little single sheet books.
Your link to the magazine doesn’t work
Thanks, fixed it:
