Hi lovely Luise. In order to get your bulb pin flat you need to put a jump ring through the thing you are attaching and then loop it on to your bulb pin. I hope that makes sense ❤
If you don't have a jump ring AND the circle is close enough to the edge, you can use a regular (not Tim Holtz) staple as a jump ring. Staple in such a way that half of the staple protrudes over the side of the circle, then put the bulb pin into the half that is protruding (it will likely take pliers). Manipulate the staple until the bulb pin inserts and has room to swing. OR simply insert an open staple into the hole and flatten one side so that it attaches to the hole, then pop the other half into the bulb pin and flatten it to the point that it is secure but can still swing side to side.
Hi Luise -- I'm not sure you realize, but you ARE actually showing us how to "embroider" junk journal elements! Historical tapestry makers approached their artwork in a similar way. They often had a general idea of the tapestry design, but had to adjust their process based on any challenges they encountered (availability of materials, quality of materials, demands of the patron/customer, and so on). I find your ability to adapt to a "moment of chaos" so inspiring...because you always end up creating something uniquely beautiful. So, may I say THANK YOU for the inspiration and your willingness to share your process with us...your efforts are greatly appreciated!! 👏😊
❤ Thanks for your video! I never noticed any one else be so welcoming into their brain. This is a great way to answer the questions that have been asked. Loved the inspiration ❤❤❤ & your processes!
Frequently watch your videos but I do not comment often. This has got to be one of your best videos ever! I loved hearing your laugh! Best ever! Your tutorial, awesome as always. ❤️
In the USA we say “one thing leads to another “ same idea. Also the envelope you used looked like glassine instead of vellum. I love your process and your laugh is amazing. Thank you for sharing! Sasha should visit again sometime.
This is so good for me. I struggle what to do after I make a journal cover. Your struggles along with your humor about it make me laugh 😂. That dvd envelope was a fun process to watch and your mention and kidding around of your friend Barbara. I love what you did with that bird too. Showing your struggles are good to all of us watching. So cute to have Sasha watching you too lol
My "Oma" was an exceptional embroiderer. You couldn't tell the back from the front of her work. Just stunning work....just like your work. Your Oma would be just as proud of your journal/paper crafting. Thank you for sharing your beautiful work!
Your journal is developing right before our eyes and I love being able to watch your true process. I love the bird in the cd envelope…I have those to use in my journals and had forgotten about them….thanks for the reminder. I love the TH background stamp how it kind of speckles the pattern on the page…gorgeous. I too like using stamps off the block but this pattern of stamp is amazing for the look you achieved. Thanks for all this knowledge you’re sharing and say hello to your video friend…he seems very nice and it’s so wonderful he helped you at a time when your creativity wasn’t flowing. Take care 😊
It’s a fairly esoteric process, I appreciate your trying to put the creative chaos into words….reminds me of Kali, simultaneously both creator and destroyer. I think I hear your screws turning in your brain during your pauses. I love to witness your creative leaps…makes MY process feel more valid!
Love your very indepth sensitive introduction to your goal for creating an embroidery journal what a lofty goal you ha ve set for yourself and your detailed uanced thought process about it is so very impressive !!!
0mgosh! Luise!! I beg your pardon I never promised you a rose garden 😂 I use to work for Lynn Anderson (the artist who had the hit with that song) back when I first moved to Nashville. Loving this video and you just brought back a flood of memories when you said that 😂❤
Love your videos, Luise. 1:29:45 One thing to mention, is that as an artist, in order to create, you must continually add to your well of input. It sounds like you found (Sven? I can’t remember what you said his name was…) at just the right time. He is inspiring you by providing new input. I have heard you talk about music being a very special means of inspiration before. Make sure you do new things on occasion, see the same things in a different light, and add to your creative well often so that you don’t end up in that dark place. Take breaks from creating periodically so that you can take that time to rejuvenate your well (your place inside yourself where creativity comes from). I’m using a lot of metaphors here, so I apologize if this doesn’t translate very easily. The call with your friend was so cute, and fun, and it was nice to see you creating on autopilot, and showing your flow without the hard part of talking about what you are doing the whole time. ❤😊
Thank you so much for doing a journal from scratch. I'm enjoying the process so much. Learning your thinking process is so helpful as I'm still a newbie.❤
Luise..beautiful work as usual. You are such an inspiration. Your creations are always 100% YOUnique! So sweet to share Sascha with us. He is a cutie pie. I love your interactions together. Hopefully, one thing leads to another and you both find love. I know that is bold to say, but you are too cute together. Plus I don't believe in coincidence. ❤TFS
Oh my gosh, when u said please hold Luise is searching for something like a recording, I spit my coffee out😂😂😂. Great ideas Luise, loving how the cd pocket turned out. I can totally understand what your talking about for chaotic junk journaling. I am all over the place and papers end up all around me and every surface in my house is stacked with stuff cause I ran out of room on my craft table. Disasterrrrr…😂
Loving this series ❤ Thank you for sharing your process, techniques, and your life. Seeing your call with Sacha was awesome. Loving how the journal is coming along
Hello..I think you both very well with your English. He seems like an amazing person. So happy he helped you. I do enjoy watching your crafting and listening to you talk. Thanks
Luise, love what you create its beautiful. I have such good laughs with you and your stories, I like your Friend, he seems like a very nice person. Keep doing what you are doing.
Luise. I have laughed with you through this video. Your reaction to the CD sleeve folding on you was so funny. I also felt your frustration. I've been there too. You do make us laugh. Loving this journal.
Luise what a great video. I too do my best work when I have no interruptions. If I get into a flow I can get a lot done. Today I just felt overwhelmed with my project so I tidied my craft room and took several pages of fussy cuts downstairs and worked on those while watching your video. I will start my project again tomorrow when I’m more relaxed and can focus.
Sehr cool, so wie immer!! 🤩👍😎 Statt einem Bulb Pin nehme ich gerne einen Draht. Auch für die Bänder, die ich auf einen Tag mache, nehme ich gerne einen Draht in den verschiedensten Farben.
Hi lovely. I am pleased to see you so happy and your muse obviously is helping you. My son is building a railing on my deck at the moment and i just went out to tell him about you and the amazing work you do. I hope that was fog machine!!! Not some other machine that both your accents accidently make fog sound like. I can tell you when Sasha first said .. Machine my eyebrows shot off my head and remain permanently attached to the ceiling. You make me laugh. Lots of love and may happiness continue to fill your future.❤❤❤
Lovely video. Your process is so interesting to me. I also enjoyed listening to you and Sasha talk . I studied German in university about a million years ago, so it was fun to see what I could still understand.
Regarding bulb pins (you called them garment pins) if you want them to lie flat use a jump-ring. Jewelry makers change the orientation of a bead or dangle on earrings or a necklace by adding a jump-ring. You could put the jump-ring through the grommet of the tag and then link it to the garment pin, or put the jump-ring through the grommet of the bellyband to link it to the garment pin. The choice is yours dear Luise!
My unsolicited opinion at around 54:00 min is using just the one piece of trim directly under the bird like feet and cut the rest off. The rest is covering a lot of the texture you wanted as well! Easy for me to say sitting here!🤣💕🇨🇦
Hey Luise. I recently discovered paper embroidery & that would be perfect for you to add some embroidery into your journal. It’s easier than other embroidery as you draw the lines on the page & punch out dots, then use the embroidery thread to bring the image to life. Try Flourishing Fibers - she explains different stitches & designs really well & makes it easy 😊
Hi Louisa! I'm working on the Envelope Notebooks that you showed us in a video (last year)!! I want to send a bunch for Christmas. I wasn't ready last year, but I'm trying my darnedest to have them ready for THIS Christmas!! (But if not, it'll be the next one!) Nobody (except a few people on TH-cam) even knows I'm making them, so they won't miss them.
I use a jump ring to help the bulb pin lie flat. Put the jump ring through the hole on your dangle, then attach the bulb pin and place through the hole of the item on your project. I hope this makes sense.
Hi Louise! I’m catching up on some episodes I missed. You asked if anyone had an idea for the bulb pins sticking out. I use a “jump ring” for making jewelry. The rings that are used to attach things to necklaces or bracelets. Adding the extra ring turns the object so you see it facing you.
Sewing skills aare invaluable to and creative! The gadget crospDile is just an expensive gadget only for convenience I’ve created in many genres for 70 years without one!
I believe Luise has recommended in the past matt photo paper by PDP which really makes her design printables pop. I tried using “normal” cheap card and the images while still printing nice were dull. Xxx
Yes, to turn your pin you need another layer between the charm/hole and bulb pin. A jump ring, oval if you have one, or even a bit of thread wrapped around the edge through the hole in the charm would work with less bulk. Hope that makes sense.
Not giant carpets just like 8x10 or smaller it really worked where he lived he was so close to the next door neighbors lol love ya love the project you are doing ❤️
I think I prefer your solution of turning the exquisite card into a pocket as you did, but you could also have put the card into a pocket with a large window (bare or with a pane of plastic or vellum), especially if you wanted to protect the card more.
Hi Luise. Thank you for all the thought and time you put in to creating your videos. I follow your long videos as if I was a student taking a master class. Thanks for all the detail. Would you consider making a bohemian grunge journal? I'm quite curious about how you would blend bling with grunge.
Hey Luise, this is your 1st video I have seen and I absolutely loved it!! You are such an amazing artist and without even thinking about it, as proved by your call with Sacha (sorry if I spelt his name wrong). Thank you for sharing your thought process too! I'm off to 'like and subscribe'
Just watched you struggle with the hammer and brad. Perhaps a treasury tag may be another method to hang the bulb pin from. Loop the pin round the string part then put both legs inside the tag hole.
I usually make a pocket of vellum, so my cards show through. I use a jump ring sometimes with the ball clip rings. I really don't like them because they don't lay flat.
I have bulb pins but have been thinking of fishing spinners. They come in all sizes and maybe if you use a jump ring, it may lay flat. I have no idea what it would be called in German. Sorry.
Hello Luise. Always happy to look at your videos. I would like to be in your head ! But stay in mine so 🙃 Thanks a lot for sharing your créations. And your mind. Kisses from France.
