I’m surprised at the lack of Azumarill. Was a generic and passive bulky water in gen 2. Got Huge Power in gen 3. Got actuall water stab in gen 4. Gen 5 wasn’t as eventful but then gen 6 gave it fairy type, AND Assault Vest as an option, AND let it legally be able to have both Aqua Jet and Belly Drum when they were previously impossible to have on the same set. Z moves in gen 7 let it guarantee a Z BellyDrum.

      Azumarill deserves an honorable mention.

Imagine if we had gotten Larvesta as the fire starter instead of Tepig. Like there was a middle stage between Larvesta and Volcarona that was a cocoon.

I still think it's a crime that Gyarados can't at least learn Acrobatics or Aerial Ace, maybe even Pluck as an egg move. having to use Bounce or Hurricane really is a shame because those other moves aren't even that op imo

Scizor also got a lot better as the generations went on. In gen 2, the best Scizor had going for it was its typing, as its only steel moves were Metal Claw and Steel Wing, and its only options for bug moves were Fury Cutter and HP Bug, so the only thing Scizor was really good for was Baton Passing Agility and Swords Dance. In gen 3 it got access to Morning Sun from XD: Gale of Darkness, but its best attribute was still its typing and Baton Pass. Then we hit gen 4 and things really improved for Scizor, getting access to Technician, Bullet Punch, U-Turn, X-Scissor, Bug Bite, and Roost. Didn't get much in gen 5, but then it got a mega in gen 6 that added 20 points to its attack, 40 points to its defense, 20 points to its special defense, and 10 points to its speed.

I find that Skarmory is an interesting case of a Pokemon getting a notable buff in almost every generation:
    Gen 3: Spikes, Taunt
Gen 4: Stealth Rock, Shed Shell, Brave Bird
Gen 5: Sturdy buffed to be automatic Focus Sash, Rocky Helmet
    Gen 6: Defog buff
Gen 7: ...uh, okay, it didn't get anything this gen
    Gen 8: Body Press
I absolutely predicted Dragonite as #1 though.

    • @fazrilabrarpurnomo2146

    • @arachineatzeer7478
      @arachineatzeer7478 ปีที่แล้ว +1

And Skamory is coming in the Gen 9 DLCs, can't see what new toys it gets but I hope it gets an Evo or something big like stat boosts or fancy new moves to itself so it can get completely out of Corviknight's shadow as the Steel/Flying type of choice like it was for so many Gens prior

What people don't know is how much DELIBIRD has improved since it's inception.
it gets a Gen 8 buffed Rapid Spin that lets it boost it's speed while ridding hazards from the field all while being immune to Hazards itself thanks to Boots.
But that's not where it stops, as the Meta has become far more favorable to it. due to the busted mons it'll encounter frequently.
    252 SpA Delibird Blizzard vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Great Tusk: 384-452 (103.5 - 121.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO (this is a viable Tusk spread, i swear)
    252 SpA Delibird Blizzard vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Dragapult: 290-344 (91.4 - 108.5%) -- 50% chance to OHKO (Adamant/Modest Pult gets outran after Rapid Spin)
    252 SpA Delibird Blizzard vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Landorus: 384-456 (100.5 - 119.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO
    0- SpA Delibird Blizzard vs. Lvl 10 252 HP / 252+ SpD Zacian-Crowned: 178-210 (378.7 - 446.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
    252+ SpA Choice Specs Delibird Freeze-Dry vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Urshifu-Rapid-Strike: 362-428 (106.1 - 125.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
    252+ SpA Choice Specs Delibird Freeze-Dry vs. 0 HP / 0- SpD Iron Bundle: 253-298 (100 - 117.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO
It doesn't end here, Nat Dex Players are gonna love this.
252+ SpA Choice Specs Tera Ice Delibird Blizzard vs. 0 HP / 252+ SpD Rayquaza-Mega in Strong Winds: 360-428 (102.5 - 121.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO
But WAIT you ask, what about Kingambit, the thorn that'll always ruin it's career, uh about that.
252 Atk Supreme Overlord 5 allies fainted Tera Flying Kingambit Sucker Punch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Tera Fairy Delibird: 165-195 (71.4 - 84.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ SpA Choice Specs Tera Fairy Delibird Blizzard vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Tera Flying Kingambit: 432-510 (106.9 - 126.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ SpA Choice Specs Tera Fighting Delibird Tera Blast vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Kingambit: 436-520 (107.9 - 128.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO
Inconclusion, Delibird has only gotten better as the game has introduced more victims for it to take advantage of. It's only untiered because the main man at Smogon go 6-0'ed by one.

Honestly, many Gen 2 pokemon should've been included in this list. For a dex that mostly has pokemon with notoriously bad base stats, many pokemon like Azumarill, Scizor and Skarmory to name a few became significantly better across different Generations after they were introduced in Gen 2.

I don't think that is very fair as some mons miss Gen 8/9 and how Smogon rating is based on usage. Scarlet and Violet made it harder for pokemons to still be viable like how Weavile was between UU and OU in Gen 4-8 but got invalidated by Chien-Pao and dropped to RU in SV or how Tyranitar used to be the king of OU, being in the tier since Gen 2 . In SV Tyranitar drop to RU due to usage.
