    Amazing video as usual. I was in Reykjavik two weeks ago for a business meeting and did have the chance to do some sightseeing. We visited some waterfalls, an active volcano, black sand beaches, a glacier: all stunning vistas. Also sunset being at around 10:30 pm and sunrise around 4:30 pm it was an incredible experience. Unfortunately, or fortunately, I tested positive for Covid-19 the day before my return flight and had to spend another 5 days in Reykjavik but did not get to do much during that time. And one more thing, I bought a bar of chocolate at the lobby of the hotel I was staying at and the package had the very familiar photo of Borgin, Grimsey.
    I will definitely go back.

      Hopefully you are ok, the Borgin Chockolate bar is one of our favorite.

    A friend of mine that spend many years with puffins says: 'it's not flying, but controlled falling' :-)

    • @GudmannAndGyda

      Exactly! Good explanation. The short wings of the puffins are great for diving, not so much for flying. If there is no wind they are in trouble. :-)

    Those winds are terrible for Gyda's brother abseiling. Wow!

    Haha! I can so relate to napping on Grímsey. It's the best! Great video. It's fun to see the puffins in the snow. The whole video makes me want to go there during similar conditions some day. Personally, the photo of the puffin in the snow in your Grímsey-book is my favourite. It's a magnificent shot. Incredible also to see how the locals descend from the cliffs.

      Thank you Jeroen, napping is a must in Grimsey. ;-)

    Not sure I like the idea the eggs are collected? (In Norway it is not allowed I think) Was it for research or consumption?

    • @GudmannAndGyda
      @GudmannAndGyda  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Collecting eggs is a old tradition and is only done very early in the season. Yes, it is for consumption, mostly by the locals.

    • @zcurtiss2899

      What is meant by the eggs being harvested early in the season is that, just as if a regular predator took the eggs or young, the puffins would mate again and produce more eggs that would yield hearty offspring capable of enduring the elements at the critical times. I am not sure that the reply needed further explanation for your comprehension, but in the event that someone else read the comments, I thought it would be helpful for people to have an understanding of how things work in the bird world.

      We will make more videos this summer. TH-cam has been on the side for the past few weeks since we have been very busy in all kinds of projects. There is more to come ;-) Best wishes from Iceland.

    sad that i traded in my D850 for a Sony A1. i am looking at a trip to iceland later this year. landscape i guess or wildlife. not sure if i should rent a camper or how to approach this.

    • @GudmannAndGyda
      @GudmannAndGyda  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      We still have the D850 - thinking about what to do... go for the A1, the Z9, the Z7II or...? If you are making plans for Iceland, just go. It is not really complicated to travel in Iceland. Rent a car and use the campsites, or make reservations. .... our book Photographing Iceland - A photo guide to 100 locations covers this extensively.

    At 2.40 minutes. Is your camera tracking something, or the tripod just losing it's grip on the camera position? 😳
