I got Studio 15. Its a brilliant combo. Light, sounds great. Its like a poor Man's Drophead.

1 year and 30 plus gigs, still feel the same. The Ashdown Studio 15 is a Poor Man's DropHead. It's a Hard Worker. Straight or use another preamp via the loop. I use the Orange Bass Butler. Just great. I do wonder if it made at the same place they do the Fender Rumble.

I find that I dig these Ashdown studio combos a lot more than the Rumble series. Rumble sounds a bit "brittle", these sound warm.

Absolutely makes no sense as a studio amp. Why would I compromise my low end punch for less weight? In the studio, sound quality comes first and I don't have to carry this thing around every weekend like on a gig. Also, why would I want a shape button and a five band eq? I'll do my sound tweaking after recording anyway.
These things make sense for people gigging all the time who need their sound shaped right out of the amp. But the name is just so wrong.

Interesting. How would the Studio 12 compare sonically to, say, the Orange Crush Bass 50 (which is 4 kg heavier) ?

It's a good sounding combos.I have Ashdown"five fifteen",which have a good sound too, but gain pot in it died after 5 years.

The 15" Model seems to be a fine amp. But:
Too big for a small amp
Too small, sacrificing low end, for a giging amp.
For the "small amp" I actually prefer my trustworthy Ibanez Promethean 5110, for big amps....
    You know the drill.

    • @javierherrera8782
      @javierherrera8782 4 ปีที่แล้ว

I've read only crap reviews about promethean.
Was about to buy one but then said nope

If you have a chance, just try out the first model, either the 5110 with a 10" speaker or 5115 with a 15".
Without extension cab those amps deliver 250 Watt @ 8 Ohm, with extension cab 500 Watt @ 4 Ohm.
Just started out with a new band, two guitarists with Marshall and Engl 50 Watt tube combos for rehearsal, and I brought my 5110 Promethean because he is small and light.
It was enough for rehearsal, had a good tone and was loud enough.
Now that I have established the gig, I took the P home with me, because there may be small gigs where the Promethean 5110 is a real good amp for.
I now use a Marshall Combo, the MB 4410 I bought in a emergency situation for cheap, just because of four 10" speakers on 300 Watt @ 8 Ohm. This is a useable amp, too.
For bigger stages I go either GenzBenz GBE 750 or 1200, or Genzler Magellan 800 or Peavey Vb 3, either with Tecamp L 215" or L 810" or GenzBenz NeoX t 212" - or two custom built 14" + 5" - cabs.
But for small gigs, rehearsal, sessions and so on I still recommend the good old Promethean 5110.
The low end, tone and volume this small amp produces still is astounding.

Class D, must stand for diet. But unlike most diet products, the flavor of these seems quite nice.

Sure, we will all use these timestamps to miss the entire review of the amplifier, making this video turn into just another video of people playing random things.
Thank you very much for taking probably more than the 3:17 of the video itself to find the timestamps!

Actually this times are good for hearing compare like when you listen second time and wanna focus on the sound that helps a lot .👍
