In today's episode, I traveled with Lydia, Maggie, and Jerome to the largest lake in the state, Red Lake Minnesota, to do some SnoBear fishing. This was Jerome's big birthday trip and it was our first time fishing out of a SnoBear and this particular one was a $70,000 luxury machine (Cole's Snobear Expeditions: 218-553-0115). We first fished for the evening bite and then we fished again the next morning to try the morning bite. The weather was an insanely cold -15 degrees Fahrenheit but we still caught fish, despite the cold front, and the Snow Bear was about 80 degrees Fahrenheit inside. Maggie, as always, came out with the biggest walleye. We also had a very fun mixed bag with crappie, perch, and goldeye. This was my first time seeing goldeye and they were an interesting artic fish. Yes - they have a very gold eye, too. Quite the party out there on Red Lake and non-natives can only fish the Upper Red Lake and only about half of that. There are tons of walleyes roaming the flats, though, and I recommend the experience!
