My 1st holiday was Dawlish in 1987 and back again 1988. 6am train from leeds called The Devonian. On the beach by 1pm. Happy memories. I can smell the diesel fumes now.
Fantastic footage, thanks for posting. Loved the BR sector era - such great variety traction and livery combinations. You've captured it all very well - including a Class 37+HST drag! And the sight and sound of seagulls and lapping waves make it a perfect video. Happy memories indeed.

Lovely to see double headed cromptons on a inter city working. Didn't realise they ever worked that far west so I was delighted to see em .

9:49 funny looking train that
I think this must have been Laira open day in September 91. The specials fit for it
Two class 33s on InterCity liveried mk 1 stock would have been a special, I expect.
A 37 as well. Must have been some special event on
Laira open day was August 91 or 92. Imagine they would have been for that?

Pretty certain it was 1991 and 1992

Some interesting and quite lengthy Parcels trains; something else that the Americans lost when they took over it all
