Idk how much longer the Clippers can experiment with Kawhi and PG. They both haven't been able to stay healthy all season and it's becoming a problem now. “Somehow” he gets injured? He was diagnosed with a degenerative knee issue. If you didn’t know, that means his knee will never get better. It is constantly getting worse and that will be the case for his entire life. Its kinda like how your hearing only gets worse, but more accelerated because this happened from him playing a sport at a high level and adding miles unto his legs. Imagine if you developed tinnitus, and then you got cauliflower ear, and your job required you constantly blast loud music. You’re hearing jacked forever. You could save it as much as you can by taking time off work or leaving work completely, but thats not an option because you love music. If it is no longer in the best interest of the team to retain Kahwi going forward then they will move on. Kawhi has bad knees, we all know that. But what makes him able to drop 30+ with no signs of injury throughout an entire game and then suddenly he can't play the next game and his only basis for that is "I got bad knees that ain't ever gonna get better man, I gotta sit this one out". Leonard averaged 34.5 ppg in 2 playoff games this year and 30.4 in 11 playoff games in 2021. If he played in 2021, Clippers make the Finals.
But health is part of the game, especially in the playoffs, and Kawhi has let the Clippers down.

    • @mouseandkeyboard1009

But games is not always in playoffs. To become great you needs to play in regular season. And need to maintain health and greatness inside the court. There are so many guys who are also playing on the high level but didn't receive a lot of credit. But media is putting kawhi with James and Jordan in conversation because he plays great sometimes during playoffs? And that is where the issue starts.

He was fighting injuries, especially his knee ankle and knee issues already before he won the ring with the Raptors. All that said, he has some highlights that will shown for as long as people play basketball, obviously his final shot against the 76ers back when.

But consider this.. They rested him all season, and then realized they won't make the playoffs, so they put sudden and immense pressure and minutes on him towards the end of the season just to make the play-in.
0-60 is damaging, and they did that and he's hurt now

I feel for the guy in this regard. Despite how frustrated I am with his injuries and load management. I can understand his personality and what trauma can do to you.. It really turns you inside more than ever.. What left of any "happy go lucky" personality you once had.. It seems nonexistent to most once the trauma happens to an already quiet/introvert personality.

I feel like this also has to do with the trend of nba fanbases and media largely dehumanizing the player by looking at their money and influence and thinking that its impossible for them to be depressed like normal people because its easier to not look at them as normal people. Every player goes through this to different degrees but they go especially hard on kawhi, whether that be because they dont like his introverted nature or because they don't understand there's not much he can do about injuries, especially if he's predisposed to getting them. Overall, I feel we as fans should be more understanding of these players and their issues and the media, like Stephen A specifically, should be penalized for talking down to these guys as much as he does for profit.

I didn't like how Kawhi handled his last months with San Antonio. Once he got to Toronto though he only played 60 games I got over it and was happy to see Toronto get their ring. Seemed he was really trying to hard to navigate free agency and basically worked it so the new team was doing things his way or he wouldn't sign. For sure he earned that on some level but why sell the Clippers that hard if you know your prime is behind you?
