It's very inspiring to see young film photographers having the same passion I've had for over 50 years. Keep up the good work, don't always agree, but most of the time I do. Great job!
A film vending machine is mind blowing! Also, you should look into renting one of the old Phase One digital backs and mounting it on that RZ. People forget about the versatility that body has with the Phase One integration.
Owning the Pentax 67 and the RB67, man I gotta say I love both. It’s hard to say which one is better but there’s a time for both for sure. Their are situations where one is better than the other. Currently shooting the Pentax and for my style of shooting, I’m enjoying it the absolute most. I know I’ll own both in my life at the same time for sure.
Sold my RZ for the 67ii and I’m never going back. The RZ was great to me but the Pentax is just a bit better in a lot of categories for me. I think the older Pentax 67 cameras aren’t as good as the RZ though
@@Siillky is the 67ii more clearer than the regular camera that you had? im having a hard ass time picking a medium format camera to upgrade from a 35mm man🤦🏾♂️ can you let me know
Man I don’t know if you’ll see this but I just want to say thank you for being you and showcasing US and just life in general through your lenses. I’m not a film photographer but you have inspired me to jump into that medium of expression - so I will this year. I will continue to support you and your channel and take in all the game you give. Peace and blessings to you man I appreciate that. That really means a lot dude and feels good to hear man. Excited for you and happy for you and happy I could be a source of inspo that’s what it’s all about! Happy new year bro! 🤎🤎
Hey young buck…. I was around when it was introduced. The 6x7 is a great format. I had an RB. However, I got tired of hauling it around. Therefore, I switched to Hasselblad 500CM which was my last film camera before switching to digital. However, I will leave you with this old tired saying…. “It’s the 6 inches behind the camera that makes the difference.” Keep shooting.
I use the RB67 Pro SD with the 127mm F3.5. I'm one of those weirdos who digs the all mechanical cameras. I hope people learn from watching you to get out and actually make photos. You're not constantly chasing for the perfect camera to make you a good photographer. You have a camera that works for you and you use the heck out of it. That's how it's done, y'all.
I don't know if that makes you a weirdo, although there's certainly something wonderful about fully mechanical cameras. I've got the original RB67 Professional and I absolutely adore it.
YO VUHLANDES HOW HAVE I NOT SEEN THE PHOTO @7:55??? That composition is sooooo good and completely removed from the actual location. I love when people are able to construct an image in a location that I've been to but I can barely recognize it. That is for sure the best image to ever be made under those two bridges. LETS GOOOOOOOOOO
This was and still is my favourite camera, maybe as it coincided with going professional . It slows you down, so you spend time framing, but really allows you to see what you're doing with your composition. I used to most prefer the waist level with the side grip. It's too bad polaroid isn't around as that was where it shined, being able to quickly switch, check your exposure and I loved having a book of polaroids at the end of the year to go back over and remember. 665 and 669 and shutter speeds under 1/30 ( it went cooler) were outstanding. I might travel with a hasselblad ( smaller and no batteries needed) but I'd work with this one, the 6x7 was a more natural fit for magazines. The still life guys used to use the larger Fuji but it mostly lived on tripods, and there you wanted being able to shift your focal plane with the bellows. But I very rarely saw anyone handholding, and if they did not for long ; ). Your work is lovely and I can see your voice forming and becoming stronger.
I thought you were yanking our chains at "film vending machine"! And you were so casual about it. Everyone should have one just down the street. Great tour of your medium format thinking. Thanks!

recently moved on to a rb67 after using a pentax 67 for a little under a year. little bit of a learning curve, but I've been enjoying myself nonetheless. can honestly say in certain portrait situations id pick it over the pentax.
@@ReclusiveEagle you'd need to buy bellows or something because the RB lenses are bellows focused and dont have a focus ring. Can't do it the other way around because the lenses that most ppl like on the 6x7 like the 105 2.4 don't have leaf shutters and the p6x7 has a shorter flange distance.

You realize most of these cameras had zero value till people started using them on YT? Before Willem, an RB67 was like $200 for a full kit. There are cameras right now that should be 10x their price. For example. The Mamiya c330 is far better than a Yashica 124G and in a lot of cases on par or better than a Rolleiflex 2.8f. Pentax 67ii is better to me. I love the ease of using one. They weigh the same, or maybe the 67ii is a little lighter, but the built in hand grip makes the camera really simple to use. The 105 2.4 and 90 2.8 are unmatched as far as medium format film goes imo
I used that camera at a portrait studio back in the day. It's a good camera but it's too much for wedding photography. For weddings I used Bronica the square format. Now I shoot M43.😂😂😂
Personally I don’t like the 6x7 format cuz you’re losing 2 extra shots per roll if you chose 6x6 instead. Plus you don’t need to rotate the camera for orientation (yes I know the RB & RZ have rotating backs). 6x6 cameras are abundant and are not lacking in quality vs a 6x7 camera
I agree. I also love how they make the most of their size because they use as much of the image circle as possible. Bronicas and Hasselblads are hardly larger than their 645 counterparts. Personally I still want 6x7 because I feel like the 6x6 cameras prioritize size a bit much and find the lenses to be slower than desirable, theres not a 105 2.4 or 110 2.8 of 6x6 that is fast and a bokeh beast. The 80 2.8 is good but its too short to provide something that the 6x7 lenses can do. Still unconditionally love my Bronica though.
My Bronica SQA is my main 120 shooter, but portraits on 6x7 are so fucking beautiful. And with the RB/RZ you can focus insanely close. As much as I love 6x6 for the very reasons you described, 6x7 still hit that sweet spot for me. Only thing better than that is portraits on Large Format. My god!
