For anyone that's having a hard time: I am so sorry you are having a hard time. Please remember that you are capable of surviving whatever you're going through. Look for the positive things in life that make you happy. Do those things as much as possible. If you can't think of any positive things to do, look for inspiration from others that do. So happy to have been a teen during the 90s. So happy to have been a part of that great decade, and to have had some of the best memories anyone can have during those GREAT times.
My dad suffered with Alzheimer's for 9 years. The last 5 were hard for all of us.A physician who helped people.A great grandfather, father, husband, professional. This song reminds me how frustrated you would get when you'd look at me and not know what to say or how to say it.Your eyes told me everything.I love you dad.You made me who i am today.
My grandma died from Alzheimer's. I think the hardest thing about it when I was a child and she was in the earlier stages of the disease was trying to keep her away from mirrors. She didn't recognise the person in the mirror as herself and would try to talk to it and wanted to always introduce me to the person she was talking to in the mirror. I always had to try to keep the door to the bathroom closed when she didn't need it and tried to direct her away from the bathroom after she was done so she wouldn't get stuck talking to the mirror.
From the Lead singer Raine Maida: "There's a connection between the song 'Clumsy' and it being the title of the album. There's a line in the song that says: 'I'll be waving my hand/watching you drown/watching you scream', it's about seeing something but not seeing it for what it really is. It's about decisions. That image of 'waving your hand/watching you drown,' is about seeing someone in the water, they're waving at you, and you're just waving back, not realizing that they're drowning. Or you think they're drowning, but they're just waving at you. It's those weird situations where you just take something at face value, but you can be so wrong. You have to look deeper and question things. I think it's something that too many people don't do these days. We're so inundated with the f--king media, and you just believe it. How many times, not just to focus on us, have we read an interview or an article where we've been completely misquoted? We're just some small band, when you think about some of the major players and you really have to question how true it all is."
Our Lady Peace was, and continues to be, one of my favorite bands! I am so glad that I can enjoy something in my late 30s that I enjoyed as much in high school. Plus, Raine’s eyes are absolutely beautiful!
Love Our Lady Peace! Finally saw them in concert a couple weeks ago with Live and Bush. I'd been wanting to see all three bands since I was about 15, so it really meant a lot to me.
I totally forgot this song even existed. Almost in literal tears. It’s so weird how a song can take you back to a certain time and place and make you have feelings you haven’t experienced in decades. I’ll never forget this song again…
I've always loved the backing harmony vocals when he sings "as CLUMSY as you've been, there's no one laughing!". Something about that line chokes me up
so. I'm 36. and this song still gives me goosebumps. my brother did a project in jr high, and he used this this song as a skit. during the break at the end. he was shot and died. and wanted the rest to play, but I guess the teacher didnt see that as fit. thank you 90s. or just good music! you're amazing guys.
I'm 45 and yes, I loved this. Still do. Ah, the 90s. The only era where some cute Canadian dude could sound like Billy Corgan but worse, and create great songs.
Throw away the radio Suitcase keeps you awake Hide the telephone, the telephone, telephone in case You realize that some times your just not okay You level off, you level off, you level off But it's not alright now You need to understand, there's nothing strange about this You need to know your friends You need to know thatI'll be waving my hands Watching you drown Watching you scream Quiet or loudAnd maybe you should sleep And maybe you just need, a friend As clumsy as you've been There's no one laughing You will be safe in hereThrow away this very old, shoe lace That tripped you again Try to shrug it off, shrug it off, shrug it off But it's only skin now You need to understand There's nothing fake about this You need to let me in I'm watching you and I'll be waving my hands Watching you drown Watching you scream No one's aroundI'll be waving my hands Watching you drown Watching you scream Quiet or loud
This is honestly a really beautiful song. I grew up with it, but only just realized the meaning of it as I listened to it today after kinda forgetting about it a while. It's so moving and lovely. We need more of this!
I love how to this day nobody questions how tf a tall glass of water flooded a whole bedroom. We just let 90s music videos be legendary weird. LOL. This song got me through some depressing times in grade and middle school. OLP consistently made music that spoke to my soul.
48 year old here.. I miss the 90s very much. I read the headlines of current events on a daily basis... What did we worry about in the 90's? Christ where is this world going. I don't even know what current music is like. Music was always such a big part of my life. Now I reflect, listen and remember. Perhaps it is rose tinted but I'll be damned if someone can say that the quality of life has improved since the 90's.
Wasn't it an amazing performance? They didn't miss a beat. It was just like being back in time. I loved how everyone there was in their 30s, not on their phones, and totally in the moment. It was such a great experience.
44k followers? Proves social media is a sell out to gain attention. Because what Raine has done for not only Canada but the world... He's way more known than that. This band as a whole is way more known than that aswell. This band will forever live on.
Our Lady Peace will always hold a special spot within my soul as they were the first of many, many bands that I saw live. I was 15 and it was a free outdoor concert held on a local college campus. It was an annual festival called "Quadmania". The rest of the bookings were pretty terrible but the headliner was usually a good band that had past their peak. This particular show was in 2001 and it was my first time crowd surfing, among other things. I remember how much fun that day was and now being to hundreds of concerts, that one will always be special because it started my foray into going to as many shows as possible. I miss those days oh so much.
Some would argue it's just as hard but with different obstacles and, at least for me, less original music. Or maybe it just resonates less for me than the our caregiver generation. Yeah, they'll be taking care of us😮
I was born in 88, but I vividly remember hearing OLP, soundgarden, smashing pumpkins and wu-tang clan when I was very young (my mom was a huge grunge fan). The grunge made me and rap molded my perspectives of other cultures.
This song used to disturb me and comfort me at the same time--I was 17. It has the same effect now--I am 43.
Same.
Same can be said for the video. Can't go wrong with Matt Mahurin (who directed it)!
Same here, nostalgia comforts me, yet I'm sitting here crying

I've heard the song before, but never saw the video, Stingray Retro is playing all Canadian music for Canada day..
Gem 9 out of 10 banger. Very underrated, under-known 90s song.
Big OLP fan from the 90's. Their alt-rock was relatively good-natured, which I appreciated.
This was the first song I ever listened to by OLP turned me in to a fan for life.
CreepyPuppyPasta So true!!! I'm pretty sure I heard it off the "I know what you did last summer" soundtrack. The entire Clumsy album was fabulous!
CreepyPuppyPasta same here
CreepyPuppyPasta Yes! A friend and I used to fight over a sampler cd because of this song. 😂😂😂
J'ai 37 ans et j'adore toujours autant cette chanson 2024❤
I totally forgot this song even existed. Almost in literal tears. It’s so weird how a song can take you back to a certain time and place and make you have feelings you haven’t experienced in decades. I’ll never forget this song again…
Incredible singer with such a unique voice and beautiful blue eyes❤️
And to think bands with talent like this were played on the radio at one time.
Yeah, 90's might have been the best decade for good music that also managed commercial success. The abundance of it too
I've always loved the backing harmony vocals when he sings "as CLUMSY as you've been, there's no one laughing!". Something about that line chokes me up
Listening to this after work, what a masterpiece❤ missing the 90s😢
It is a great testament to songwriting but it resonates with me, beautiful.
This song makes me miss the 90s.
So much it hurts
I miss everything lol
Totally
Take me back to the 90's pleaseee! 🙌🔥
You don’t know what it’s like missing a time you barely experienced.
this song always makes me cry
so. I'm 36. and this song still gives me goosebumps.
my brother did a project in jr high, and he used this this song as a skit. during the break at the end. he was shot and died. and wanted the rest to play, but I guess the teacher didnt see that as fit.
thank you 90s. or just good music!
you're amazing guys.
I was at work and one of the cooks was listening to music. She was playing this song and it almost brought me to tears but I also felt happy.
this song deserves way more views then it has
Music isn’t made like this anymore. Take me baaack.
I'm 45 and yes, I loved this. Still do. Ah, the 90s. The only era where some cute Canadian dude could sound like Billy Corgan but worse, and create great songs.
I used to listen to this song over and over again. This is the first time I've heard it in over 20 years. It hasn't lost its charm.
band is still around and making music, haven't listen to any of their new stuff tho
Throw away the radio
Suitcase keeps you awake
Hide the telephone, the telephone, telephone in case
You realize that some times your just not okay
You level off, you level off, you level off
But it's not alright now
You need to understand, there's nothing strange about this
You need to know your friends
You need to know thatI'll be waving my hands
Watching you drown
Watching you scream
Quiet or loudAnd maybe you should sleep
And maybe you just need, a friend
As clumsy as you've been
There's no one laughing
You will be safe in hereThrow away this very old, shoe lace
That tripped you again
Try to shrug it off, shrug it off, shrug it off
But it's only skin now
You need to understand
There's nothing fake about this
You need to let me in
I'm watching you and I'll be waving my hands
Watching you drown
Watching you scream
No one's aroundI'll be waving my hands
Watching you drown
Watching you scream
Quiet or loud
¡Muchas gracias! 🍷
This song immediately brings me back to my old LSU days. Great memories
Go tigers
A song with something about waving and drowning popped in my head and it took a lot of googling to figure out it was this song but I found it!
I played this CD over and over and over and over again in my room. Love it!
Have you ever heard of anger management? If not, look it up. Happy Wednesday!!
CoreyJoe Shipman
Geeez......nicely handled CoreyJoe- some people are just beyond belief.....
I know that's right! Life is too bad ass for the crap!!
Chasity Shipman I have it on cassette (well, it was my dad’s, but I “borrowed” it from him along with his cassette copy of Nirvana’s “Nevermind”)!!!
Your not the only one : ) What about How's it gonna be?
Best band ever. This band has gotten me through so much in my life.
I’ve never met them but I’m sure they are great guys
Signed some washed up loser that used to party with rockstars
I miss the 90s so fucking bad!
Me too :..(
Can we go back
2021 sucks
48 year old here.. I miss the 90s very much. I read the headlines of current events on a daily basis... What did we worry about in the 90's? Christ where is this world going. I don't even know what current music is like. Music was always such a big part of my life. Now I reflect, listen and remember. Perhaps it is rose tinted but I'll be damned if someone can say that the quality of life has improved since the 90's.
Who doesn't want those times back? Awesome everything in the 90's.
THEY INSPIRE ME AND COMFORT ME AND HEARTFELT!!! MISS THEM!!! FAV SONG!!!💯♥️
Their is so many good Our Lady Peace songs, including this one.
I'm 45 now, and yes....the 90's was indeed the LAST great decade.
Yes indeed :) so glad I got to be there. 40 here btw. Doesnt it seem like yesterday?
Just turned 40 and I agree
43 here. Yes, you are correct.
I turn 40 next week and agree with you 100% the 90's was a great decade for music.
I'm 43 and 100% agree.
Just saw OLP and IME in Ottawa with my best friend since grade 9. We grew up to those bands. I have had OLP in my head for 4 days now!
zombiecrush I saw them last night in Halifax and they were amazing!
Wasn't it an amazing performance? They didn't miss a beat. It was just like being back in time. I loved how everyone there was in their 30s, not on their phones, and totally in the moment. It was such a great experience.
Douglas Nowland it was Tim Hortons for us!! ;) growing up pre-2000 was the best!!!
20 years later and still an awesome song.
Classic song
This is a good song I had completely forgotten about.
One of the best albums ever. Almost impossible for them to top it
in a lot of ways I prefer Naveed over it, but both albums are amazing
I love Clumsy and Naveed, but Spiritual Machines made me fall in love with OLP.
This song reminds me of a lost friend that I'll never see again. The memories are bittersweet. Miss you MCM 😞
I don’t know what it is about this song but I can listen to it over and over again
Can't decide which video I like better. Both are strong in their points!
44k followers? Proves social media is a sell out to gain attention. Because what Raine has done for not only Canada but the world... He's way more known than that. This band as a whole is way more known than that aswell. This band will forever live on.
What a great band. And great songs. I never had their album, and I need to buy it now.
good ol our lady peace another great Canadian band!!
I wish I could just go back to the 90s as a kid. I didn't realize it but I had it made back then and I didn't appreciate it
I am a 90s kid (Jan 1990) who only listens to 90s music and artists, and I have never heard of this song or this band before.
I miss those days oh so much.
kids these days will never know how hard it was growing up, and simple songs like this kept us away from the dark, for us to live a nother day
Some would argue it's just as hard but with different obstacles and, at least for me, less original music. Or maybe it just resonates less for me than the our caregiver generation. Yeah, they'll be taking care of us😮
Great song and the album has got so many great tracks still jamming to their album Clumsy great times
I was born in 88, but I vividly remember hearing OLP, soundgarden, smashing pumpkins and wu-tang clan when I was very young (my mom was a huge grunge fan). The grunge made me and rap molded my perspectives of other cultures.
I'm 41, been listening to the 1990s for a week straight.....was magical.....so many great movies and music packed into a decade
Im 44 brother me too.
Still a great song
