GUARDUS™ Overtube Esophageal and Gastric - Set-Up Video | STERIS

This video shows the setup procedure for the GUARDUS™ Overtube, available in 25cm (esophageal) and 50cm (gastric) lengths and developed explicitly for enhanced protection and safety. The GUARDUS Overtube System features a tapered tip to protect against mucosal damage, while its insufflation cap helps protect against leakage of body fluids.
This product is a two-tube device in which the tapered tip inner and outer tubes must be assembled together. Select the correct GUARDUS Overtube device based on the endoscope’s size. Both esophageal and gastric product options are available in different size variations to work with scopes with an outside diameter of 8.6-10mm or 9.8-11.7mm.
In the video, the physician prepares for the procedure by lubricating the device. Use a water-soluble lubricant on the tubes' inner and outer surfaces. Once the tubes are assembled, the GUARDUS Overtube is inserted through a 60FR bite block to the desired location. Next, simultaneously remove the inner tube and scope while holding the outer tube in place. An insufflation cap can be used to minimize the backflow of bodily fluids and maintain insufflation. Finally, the endoscope can be reintroduced to begin the procedure.
