    Good management, Sophie. The repair work is more important than the videos, much as we enjoy them🙂. As a carpenter, I spend more time than I would like, repairing houses with poorly designed/implemented waterproofing and drainage issues. You fix what you find, according to best practice, as quickly as you can. It is clear to me that you will be an exemplary tradesperson. Cheers from NZ🇳🇿!

    It's your life so you don't owe anyone anything. You're a hard and dedicated worker so you should rather be proud you are still at this project given the circumstances.

    You do great fab work, young lady !!! Your welds are really nice where you are welding only new metal !!! Rusty material is really difficult to weld !! Keep up the great work !!! Stay safe and God bless you and yours !!!!!! Eddy

    The stars shine on you Sophie! Here in Spain the old discos and range rover classics live a long a rust free life and I love seeing them on the road. Keep up the great work.

      Thank you for the kind words! That sounds incredible, unfortunately we very rarely see them these days. The salt they put down on the roads in the UK during winter has wiped most of them out. It’s great to hear they are still going strong in Spain!😄

    I couldn’t weld plastic. That’s fantastic. Love watching every episode of yours. One of my fav channels and I don’t have a Landie.
    Would love to know how things are going a Aston Martin. Would be a dream job for many of us.

    Sophie, glad to see you back! It would really help your rebuild if you would consider using weld-thru primer. This prevents flash rusting and protects the metal in the weld process. then when the weld is done and you have ground it back smooth, spray on some primer to protect the entire weld.
    Great to see you are back on the project and your work is coming along well!

    • @LandRoverSophie
      @LandRoverSophie  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you, it’s great to be back! Yeah I sometimes do use it, but for me it’s a bit more trouble than it’s worth. Plus I know I’m just going to spray over with proper primer more or less immediately after anyway. I’ve even been using a Schutz gun to inject cavities with paint before waxing as well☺️

    I love your methodical approach to replacing the rotted out ares, so much easer to do small sections when you are fabing the metal yourself , I do it exactly the same way. just finished the front windshield channel on my 1980 VW Vanagon, that was a tricky job, but did it in short sections so I never lost sight of the original shape. each section was hand formed, came out awesome, now I dont have a rotted and leaking windshield frame!

    Good to see another update. Your voice makes this like an ASMR video 😂
    I can’t believe how badly these these rotted out. My dad had a Disco II for a few years and the roof and rear gate were rusting and the truck wasn’t even 10 years old. I don’t even know how bad it was in the areas we couldn’t see.

    • @LandRoverSophie
      @LandRoverSophie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha thank you!
      It’s incredible how much they can hide! Discovery 2 will be exactly the same (from what I have seen anyway!). It’s a shame about your dads previous Disco, though you’re probably right about some concealed rust elsewhere!

    Thanks for another great video Sophie and glad you’re still working on it. Thanks for sharing the journey and your knowledge. Just started working on a five door 1995 discovery V8 in Australia with my 4 year old and 2 year old finding it great fun so far. It unfortunately has some rust issues too so finding your posts very interesting. 👍

    You asked for questions, What do you do at Aston ? Mechanic, Bodywork or ???, I once visited Aston and had the privilege to see an engine almost completely assembled an you could turn the crank by hand it was so smooth and precise. Beautiful cars and mechanics.

Yoke has two original turn wheel sunroofs (never leak) and too much to list (can't find!) . Tricky round those footwells. You made a super job of. Have V8 radiator and a massive outside intercooler if your going to go daft turbo/fuelling etc. Also 2 brand new genuine front door regulators. God knows what else. Let me know. Good luck. Great work. Jc

      Hello! I have uprated the steel in some areas, though this was more to make it more resilient against corrosion than anything else. Since this vehicle was never designed with proper crumple zones; just uprating the steel thickness alone will do little to help it in a crash. I think it would take completely re-engineering the entire vehicle to help with that haha☺️
