Good to see this run. I myself haven't completely walked away from brushed motors. You don't have to worry about a thermal shut down with a brushed motor. And I use the cheap brushed motors like the sport and torque tuned. No hassle or fuss with them in my eyes.
Thank you! I don’t fully understand the hype around brushless motors yet. I haven’t had any issues with my brushed motors at all and you can get decent ones for cheap. I still need to try out a torque tuned so I can compare it to the sport tuned, I know the sport tuned has a little more top end speed but I think some people say they actually prefer the torque tuned motor
@@BargainBashersRc My favorite cheap brushed motors are the Dynamite 15t and 20t. Both can be had for around 20. A good cheap brushed motor esc is the Hobbywing 1060. They can be found around 20 if you look deep enough. And I have started using 4mm gold bullet/banana connectors for my batteries. You will need a soldering iron for this.
I’ll definitely look into the dynamite motors, I have not heard of them. Hobbywing 1060 I feel like is the gold standard of brushed esc’s in the hobby right now. I have a soldering iron but it’s a cheap one from harbor freight that doesn’t do that great of a job, I’m not sure if it gets hot enough or something but when I was trying to solder the wires onto my WPL motors it was a big pain
It’s a great kit John! The Grasshopper and Grasshopper II are just really fun kits to drive and are very easy to build. Plus the gearbox is bulletproof practically so you’ve got a winner!
They are so much fun! Definitely my favorite rc to drive that I own right now, unpredictable but also controlled at the same time..idk to me it’s like what they say in Tokyo drift something along the lines of being in control but also letting go and not being control..it’s kind of a unique drive and a nice easy build. I still want a candy green grasshopper but then all my Tamiya kits will be in the grasshopper family lol

Oh my gosh, such an epic RC! Wish I still had mine from back in the day
You should pick up a rerelease! They have the same look and feel except with modern electronics
Looks fun great video
Thank you! It’s such a fun car
I like driving my grasshopper
They are so much fun, it’s definitely the most fun rc I have in my collection
Definitely don’t need a brushless motor…
lol, yeah I think it’s fine without one but I’m also still new to brushless
