Russian Chess was staged on the stage of Moscow in 2020, this number can be heard in Russian, if you find the "Broadway Moscow" channel on TH-cam, there are excerpts of the performance of the Russian production.

i’m more used to david bedella’s molokov, but i’ll be damned if this one isnt fantastic. i always picture molokov as bald because of this performance..
In fact, this song isn’t new at all! It was featured in the original London production that played in the West End from 1986 to 1989. You must have seen the Broadway production that was staged in the late 80s, after the West End one. The American version was quite different since it was heavily rewritten and one of the major changes was sadly cutting this wonderful song. Luckily, it’s now back in all modern productions of Chess around the world. Also, the bit you recognize is a quick reprise of a segment from the song ‘Diplomats/US vs USSR’ that appears in Act 1.
@@JF-sh2sm Have never been to B/way; saw it twice in London, West End "early doors"; have the double album on vinyl - pretty sure it's not on there; know it almost word for word and went to second show knowing almost all of it. Never heard this bit before. I am familiar with the US/USSR exchange (no-one can deny that these are difficult times....) .. strange...
Seriously, though… so sad that this recording is just going to sit there on a shelf, and not be enjoyed by the people who could not be there in person. Especially in this age of digital distribution, it would be so easy. The artists and writers could even make some money from it, and the fans would be glad to pay for it.
Anyone else here from the new PhilosophyTube video?
BIt by Bit, the pieces fit, THE SOVIET MACHINE ADVAAAANCES
Da, comrade Scrooge.
Zbravstvuyte, fellow workers.
Да, товарищ.
Da Coomrade
Made me discover this, and now it's stuck in my head. Cooking eggs like "Bit by bit the pieces fit♪"
The accordion player is sure enjoying himself!
Oh yes, that's Anders Eljas, by the way. He made all the orchestral arrangements for Chess together with Benny Anderson.
@@ArcticPhilharmonic Whoa!
Every accordionist I've talked to has been straight chillin lol
I'm convinced they've discovered the secret to happiness and aren't sharing lol
I’ve had this stuck in my head since I saw Chess in London yesterday, it’s so amazing!
Yes, is great music isn’t it? Thanks for watching our clip!
Definitely, this man’s voice is so impressive too- I’m so jealous 😂
Спасибо за красивое исполнение партии! Искусство объединяет 😉
Fantastic song! Amazing how they made it sound so Russian. It doesn't remind me of any particular Russian song, but still sounds really folk russian.

By far the best version on TH-cam.
Vortual , happy to hear you think that! Thanks for watching our clip.
How is it even possible that this vid has so few views and likes? It's absolutely amazing!
[MOLOKOV, spoken]
Comrades, why are you looking so worried? We are not dealing with the traitor Sogievsky now. Comrade Viigand is a disciplined, Soviet, chess-playing machine
(sung)
Just in case you feel a trace
Of doubt or even nervous tension
Let me draw the latest score
To your attention
Not the score, the witless score
That commentators are debating
Come, admit, who gives a shit
For Elo rating
No, I prefer
And I'm sure you concur
To see who's ahead
Psychologically, for example
We have on tap
An inscrutable chap
Whose thoughts never stray
From the state of the play
[ALL, spoken]
Viigand!
[MOLOKOV, spoken]
Whereas...
(sung)
It's so difficult to concentrate if
You have left your native
Country for a woman who has plans of her own
It's not easy for a chap to excel
Feeling guilty as hell
Having left his wife to face the music alone
But, even worse
Imagine if his ladies met
Well then I'll bet
The atmosphere 'round here
Would be a little strained
As she explained
[Claps]
How could he do
What he's done to those two
Most wonderful girls
Yes, I love you both
[SOLOISTS]
Most amusing!
[MOLOKOV]
Starting them scratch
They'll torpedo his match
His horsepower dead
On the board and in bed
[ALL]
Bit by bit the pieces fit
The Soviet machine advances
Not one move that
Won't improve our nation's chances
We predict a stunning victory
Both on the board and off it
This will show that traitor
No one rats with profit
But we're going to smash that bastard
Make him wanna change his name
Take him to the cleaners and devastate him
Wipe him out, humiliate him
We don't want the whole world saying
"They can't even win a game."
We have never reckoned on coming second
[MOLOKOV]
There's no use in
Losing
Bit by bit the pieces fit
The soviet machine advances
[ALL]
Not one move that won't
Improve our nation's chances
Hoi!
[MOLOKOV]
No, I prefer
And I'm sure you concur
To see who's ahead
Psychologically, for example
We have on tap
An inscrutable chap
Whose thoughts never stray
From the state of the play
[ALL]
La la la la, la la lay la lay la
La la la la la la la la la la la
Bit by bit the pieces fit
The soviet machine advances
Not one move that won't
Improve our nation's chances
Hey!
We predict a stunning victory
Both on the board and off it
This will show that traitor
No one rats with profit
Ah ah, la la la la!
[MOLOKOV]
From Moscow to the Bering Strait
Citizens will hail our victory
[ALL]
In arctic circles, frozen states
Will join with warmer climes in reverie
[MOLOKOV]
And I can say of this affair
I was there
Did my share
Played my part
[ALL]
And comrades all will be aware
I was there
From the start
Mmm mmm...
[VIIGAND]
Ah ah...
It's actually slightly different here. I've never actually heard a version with all the dialogue at the beginning.
His voice is beautiful
i’m more used to david bedella’s molokov, but i’ll be damned if this one isnt fantastic. i always picture molokov as bald because of this performance..
one of the better Molokovs for sure
It’s a good version to be sure but David Bedella’s Molokov has more malevolence.
Give me your telegram or whatever, I’ll send you the best version
holy shit i love this song, i found it from the philosophy tube video and this is truly and song from the heavens
Glad you liked it 🙂
This was great!!
Who is this Molokov? He's awesome!
His name is Nils Christian Fossdal (Norwegian). Thanks for watching!
Love this - one of the newer songs which came in since I saw it in the late 80s, although I recognize the bit at about 3:20 !
Here is another one you might not have heard: itunes.apple.com/no/album/hes-a-man-hes-a-child/1011662210?i=1011662221&l=nb
Thanks - just had a listen; nice one !

❤ omg! Love your voice!
amusante voorstelling. Echt leuk !!
Is there a full version of this show available anywhere?
Yes, we have the full show, but we are not allowed to release it because we don’t have the publishing rights.
Omg! The dialogue at the beginning was appalling!!
Is the complete production of this concert available for purchase, either as a video or audio recording?
+flybynight no, unfortunately. We have a recording, but we are not allowed to distribute it..
I'm not asking you distribute it. Just let me have a copy. I won't tell anyone. Promise! 😉

Hmmm. Seems Russian dub is not faithful 1-to-1
Still, not sure which one I prefer, both are quite dope!
What Putin is playing each time Donny "traitor" Trump gives interviews.
Fantastic!
