Aw, I liked this Mario wants Luigi to succeed thing. It's a lot nicer than "Mario is secretly a dick" even though, there's still some evidence to support that. I like thinking Mario actually cares for Luigi, like at the end of Luigi's Mansion. Not like how he was in Luigi's ending of Mario Tennis.

Well no, it's not official evidence, after all it's a theory for a reason. It's meant to be taken with a grain of salt. In the end it's all just for fun.

Mario and Luigi are brothers (and more specifically, twins) through and through. And like how brothers typically are, there are bound to be times when sibling rivalries come into play. Sure, they may occasionally mock one another and/or annoy each other (Like how Mario annoys Luigi at the end of Mario tennis, or Luigi's Death Stare in Mario Kart), but deep down inside, they would literally give their life (lives) to ensure the other's safety if it came to it.
This is all coming from my own experience with having a younger brother. Sometimes we act like we're going to tear each other apart, other times we will gladly fight somebody if the other is in trouble. The thing is, he's my brother, and I his. Brothers should always be there for one another.

If you look at their development cycles then JSMB2 is the rush-job expansion-pack (of relatively good quality) due to SMB2's engine not meeting the deadline and DDP being the retooling of the engine that allowed SMB2 to be revived in time for America.

I have 3 theories. Number 1. Mario was working for a long time and fell asleep. Number 2. He went on vacation and was sleeping and dreamed about the whole thing. Number 3. He was dreaming because Luigi was going to save the princess.

That end part got me thinking. In Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon, Luigi gets the ghost dog as a pet. But in all the games after that one, we see Luigi, but not the ghost dog. Is he just left at the house to starve to death?!

I think all of the games of Mario are dreams, all of princess captured, And that is his fear... Losing the princess the first time... It scarred him and he always had nightmares about losing her... He is scared and lost. Sad and depressed about losing her and that is my Theory about Mario. Thank you

In Japan, Super Mario Bros. 2 (aka the lost levels) was released first. Following that was Super Mario USA, or in America, Super Mario Bros 2. The lost levels were never released to the USA because of it’s immense difficulty, thus being the reason we accepted Super Mario USA as Super Mario Bros 2. None the less, it’s still a good theory.
