    I watched several other videos of people talking about how they're gonna show me how this is done.. and then they didn't deliver. Glad I found this one! That last little recap, of the finished puzzle, was all I needed.
    Thank you SO much!!!

    I have a 1987 Ford Ranger Same brakes as these. No video or manual showed that the longer pad goes to the e-brake side. I did one side and after seeing I did it wrong I'm glad I saw this video. That lower spring was a pain. I liked the way you spread the shoes to get the adjuster on. Hopefully your way will be much easier, thanks. Best video I've seen for this. Not much for the old Bronco II and Rangers.

      Hi Ted,
      Thank you for watching!
      Yes, change out those drum pads and be done with it for another 5+ years! This method will work for you and doesn't take very long.
      Thanks again for watching!

      @@AtlanticDrain I bought the truck a few months ago. Someone before me put both the short shoes on one side and long shoes on the other. One wheel cylinder was frozen and the other leaking. Automatic adjuster not connected on one side. I about have it all straightened out. Thanks again for the video. This is quite different from the 15 other vehicles I've owned in the past 50 years. I usually get 4-500,000 out of my vehicles.

    Actually not bad "How to" on the drum brake system for that vintage. I would like to throw in my two cents though, that being the smearing of a ant-friction/anti-squeal lube on the three contact points that are on inside surfaces of primary and secondary brake shoe. Additionally as you are in that deep, it is always good policy to replace the hydraulic parts as well as the mechanical especially when the W/C's are only 17.00 bucks a piece anymore, and lastly also if in that deep, "Always replace the auto-adjust cable as they are small and weak and are a bull's-eye for corrosive winter road treatment compounds that cause them to come apart.

    If you don't adjust the rear brakes right when their replaced.... will this eventually cause the abs light to come on and to me seems like the rear brake are no longer working. when i lock up my brakes at low speeds, seems like only the front tires lock up and the rear doesn't. also iv tried getting the codes by jumping that connector under the passenger dash but couldn't get it to work.

    • @AtlanticDrain
      @AtlanticDrain  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Brent,
      Thank you for watching. Rear drum breaks are self adjusting. When you back up and stop using the brakes. the pads move in closer to drum automatically.
      There must be just a small amount of air right by the bleeder either up front by disc or in rear by drum. But, it will be right at the bleeder valve
      Thanks again for watching!
