@ADKMuskyFoolonFly63 glad you asked. For me the new TFO Solution has blown me away. I'm doing a video for that rod soon and I'm going to do a variety of flies and test how well and how accurately it places those flies. I've been using it for a few months and it's out performing my $1k rods!
I have some nice $1000 rods too but personally won’t pay $1000 for a rod. Bought many great rods used for much less. TFO hits the sweet spot of great quality for good price. Looking forward to your review. Does it have as much backbone as Axiom II? Does it cast the variety of bass streamers as well as axiom II??
@ADKMuskyFoolonFly63 it does! But what I really like about it is that there are no dead spots in the cast. So it handles the line as well at 20ft as it does at 40 ft, and it does at 60ft. But this rod has no trouble dumping all of the line off the reel. It's a Dynamite stick that sets the bar for any rod made over seas.
@@LostAngler thank you so much for all your feedback. One other question-have you been able to compare it to the Blitz?? and how do they compare if you did?
@ADKMuskyFoolonFly63 I am a huge fan of the Blitz and I used it all last fall for Redfish. What I'll say is that the solution is a nicer rod, not taking anything away from the Blitz. But that makes since as it does cost more. The Solution bends deeper into the blank and that to me makes it a better streamer rod. The Blitz is very very fast has more of a distance game mindset. That's a great thing in Saltwater where I'm trying to be as accurate as possible at a further distance while sight fishing. So different environments in mind in the making. But I wouldn't hesitate to use the Solution in the Saltwater or for Redfish and if you're fishing in stained water where you're having to present a bigger fly closer to the boat, you might prefer the solution. I don't think you'll be disappointed in either one. There's not a big price jump in the rods so I suggest casting both.
Great review, thanks for putting this out there. This review is so much better than most reviews where they are only casting fly line and trying to make it go 80 feet without a heavily weighted fly, just like you said. A question: Do you have any comment about this rod fishing for bass with intermediate fly lines or sink tips? Thank you!
Yes, it does very will with both. An intermediate line won't really change your casting as the grain weights are the same. However what you gain stealth and sensitivity you will lose in your ability to make repetitive casts at a distance without false casting. This is true for all intermediate lines. A sink tip will change the grain weight of the line and the casting action of the rod. So going with the bass taper which is a full line weight above a true 8wt taper kinda gives a feeling of what it would be like. I have no doubt that it would perform extremely well!
My local fly shop guy just tried pushing me to buy one of these. He says he cant keep em on the shelf. He sells a bunch of them. It's just funny I looked at this thing then you posted a video about it. They're super light. Couple more paychecks and I may be paying him a visit
@@LostAngler Hey ...... a really great review, but......in my picky, sometimes too picky mind, one subject is missing.....LEADER info......length/pound/diameter/material. What were the specs? Would have been nice to know your leader formula or brand of commercial leader used to accomplish the turnover you achieved.
Crazy how the price has gon up on these in 3 years i thought it was the other way prices drop as they get older and new atuff comes out i didnt pay full price but they are 450 now good thing i get a discount i got mine for 155
Great video, thank you. In 2020 the Axiom II was your ultimate bass rod. What is your ultimate bass rod now in 2024??

Great vid man, live to fly fish myself. Mainly upper delta. Haven’t tried any salt stuff. Keep the vids rolling man.
Thank you sir! Will do!
Love to get a comparison to the Axiom ll-X. Thinking of getting the X in a 7wt for a little extra backbone. Thanks!
Did you ever get one? The 2x is fantastic. I never use my 2 or bvk anymore. It is only 2x or if I want a little slower the Orvis Helios 3D.
This might have sold me over the tfo clouser rod, the axiom II looks like an incredible rod
I love this stick. Currently it's my favorite in their lineup!

They are sick. I'm planning on picking up one in a seven weight for myself

@@rongranneman9361 so no worries, in my other videos I did a video on my leader formula.

I have the 7wt. It's a fun casting rod!
Great review!
