Thankyou for doing these videos.. I just had my L5/S1 surgery in Perth wa And watching your videos gave me good insight into what was about to happen.. and was happy to hear my surgeon essentially say all the same things.. Pain free at the moment.. able to walk, and feeling comfortable.. now to take the week and recover slow and careful. Hoping I can get back to my brisk daily walks ASAP.
@@Aurelia642 two years on and doing well.. I ended up having two surgeries one in Feb of 22 and then March of 22 as it had herniated again and was unable to walk or stand. Lived on my floor for two weeks whilst waiting for my surgery.. and the inability to sit or stand was beginning to affect my ability use the toilet.. (and that seems to be one of the triggers for surgery) Discs take a long time to heal so all the physio or chiro won’t fix the issue.. so I would say get it done.. but your mri scans and symptoms and doctors will determine what should happen.. Now I went in as an emergency patient the first time I was having sciatica for around 8 months before surgery and seeing a physiotherapist weekly. (It helped but didn’t really touch the sides) And then one day I was getting out of bed and I felt it pop. And my leg lit up with pain.. 24 hrs later I couldn’t handle the pain any longer and called an ambulance.. had surgery that day luckily enough and went home 2 days later.. The surgeries worked pretty nicely I’m still pretty cautious when doing more physical things like lifting but I walk everyday and try to be vigilant about posture. But two years on pain free.. still get some minor things here and there. But overall a million times better from where I was!
I had lumber herniated microdisactomy surgery, I just want to know that teared annulus is that also fixed and nucleus shouldn't come out with the teared annulus for ahead right?. If not , how to fix the tared annulus? And how to increase volume of nucleus
i have a moderate broad based disc bulge with left and right lateral recess impingement l4/5 so i’m having constant sciatica down both legs. i understand that bulges are different to hernias but do you perform surgeries on this? just need to get the pressure off both sides
I'm not a doctor but hell no , once the lesion is there it's there for life , heavy bending and movements will damage the spine more , especially if your grappling
I've been advised against the op'ON THE NHS O COURSE)I HAVE THE CONDITION FOR YEARS DOC IS HAPPY (AND SO I MANAGE IT AS INTRUCTED BY HIM .SHOULD I NOT TRUST A DOCTOR.I Have heard very concerning opinions.

I am dealing with this now. Considering surgery. Extreme leg pain. How was your recovery & how are you doing now?

Hello Doctor so if my pain is only on my back but I have a disc problem and also stenosis would you recommend surgery
I’ve had twitching of the bladder. My sciatica pain has got a lot better but still got a big disc bulge in my lower back.
I had lumber herniated microdisactomy surgery, I just want to know that teared annulus is that also fixed and nucleus shouldn't come out with the teared annulus for ahead right?.

My only question is will be able to go back to Judo and Jiu Jitsu after a year of recovery from surgery on my herniated disc?
