Fun fact: The sword Eggman takes out for his taunt and several of his attacks is Excalibur from Sonic and the Black Knight. Eggman somehow stole Sonic's sword!

I genuinely would've loved to see Eggman in Smash as an actual fighter.
I also feel like he is the character that would fit the most in this video
He was made by one of the best creators for Rivals of Aether so I'd suggest that as a second best or one of those fan games Smash Crusade or Smash Flash 2. I think one of those two have him. Maybe even Project M Plus or wtv tf the new one is.

Hat Kid or master Chief would have been better choices in my opinion. Hat Kid would be a stand-in for indie games as a whole, and Master Chief was the protagonist of the game that changed the FPS genre (for the most part). Heavy would have also been awesome
