Oh man, after the slow and difficult hike up I had to race back down as fast as I could so that I could get out of Garden Canyon before the MPs close the gate at dusk! Never again!
Holy moly, what a hike! I agree, Scheelite was always one of the toughest trails, and is worse now. Great views from the peak, though, and the scenery at 3:12 is so very un-Huachuca-ish. (Looks more like Flagstaff...) -Leonard
Yes, that beautiful section along the fence line is very much like northern Arizona. It was my favorite part of the hike. I hope to get up there again, but probably I'll only do it from Sawmill Cyn once Garden Canyon Rd is driveable again. Scheelite has bumped Deer Spring off its pedestal as the trail I’m least likely to hike again!
