Thank you very much. I seriously think about buying a sitar, and this tutorial will help me to not look like a fool while checking out the instruments at the local shop. Great !
This is so far the best video tutorial ever seen by me on holding sitar and the posture one needs to maintain. I personally find it very difficult to position both the legs as described by you (and which is an absolutely needed perfect positioning of legs). Pls make more and more videos giving us step by step growth in learning sitar.
This video helped me very much! Thank you for the excellent explanations. I see that I will need to limber up my legs while I'm saving up for a sitar. My legs DO NOT lay like that!
Excellent demonstration Mehbbob. Many thanks. My teacher in manchester always used to comment on how tense i am playing DA RA DA RA.(i used to put the sitar tumba next to my foot or in front of my foot). He never corrected where the tumba was positioned. i always had difficulty with higher octaves. now with your help things are looking much better.I woiuld to get in touch with you over skype(i live in wirral). Agree with classicalgem Really really excellent demonstration sir... @madyham - I am learning RS style sitar but struggling with the sitar position from very long...I didnt find a single video with such a beautiful illustration.. But I suppose there is slight change in the Sitar angle in the RS style and Vilayat Khan style.. Sir can you please confirm if there is change.. One more query - I have tried lot many different positions of my hand and now ended with pain in my elbow..
