That little stove is run on kerosine or desiel fuel , it has an adjustable wick .parts are still available for them it's a perfection stove . I'm 73 and me and my twin sisters bedroom heated with one just like that one . There are videos on how to restore them and restored they are highly sought after . They put out good heat to , where we lived in Colorado it was -20 to - 30 °on warm days soooo.! Don't throw it out !!
Love the idea of refurbishing the cabin. The candle sconces are great. Take measurements and rebuild it to look like the original. Save some of the shelves, table and dishes to put into the refurbished cabin.
That popcorn came from around Valparaiso, Indiana. I met Mr Redenbacher after he and his wife went on an around the world trip. Their one granddaughter was in my class, graduates of 1975. For your gloves look into Duckworth, a company out of Montana that sells their sheep raised wool and make clothing for cold weather. Have a great day.
Gotta keep that stove, it's awesome! There's so much character to it! Clean it up and display it next to the cool little bench perhaps!❤ Oh and keep the candle holder too!😊
It is looking so AMAZING around there. What an awesome journey you all are on. 😊 you must feel so blessed. Thank you for sharing your journey with all of us. It's so refreshing to see wholesome real family friendly content. Our family loves watching all your videos. 😊
Next week time you have open fire throw that popcorn in, fun to watch it,pop. What an adventure in that cabin, don’t you wish them walls could talk. Snow looks beautiful. 😊
If it were me, and I know it isn't, I'd take everything out of the cabin that wouldn't burn, including the windows. Take most of what won't burn to the garbage. Then burn the cabin and anything in it that would burn. Perhaps save the oil/kerosene stove to give to someone who had an antique store - as it would be a great looking piece of decor. Love watching you work on the place.
I remember as a young boy in Michigan my dad getting my brother and I up a 4:30 am to shovel the drive out from the garage to the street. The city snow plow came by an hour after dad left for work so we had to reshovel the drive way so dad could get back in the drive at 5:30. Fun Fun Fun. The cabin could be rebuilt but would take some time and lots of fresh trees. 😅
I am amazed that the crystal whisky tumblers never broke in all those years. They look like Waterford to me and they maybe marked on the base. I wonder if the veg peeler was still sharp? The snow looks lovely too. Thanks for sharing.
I was watching this video again. It looks like it would cost more to repair this cabin than to let it go. At least now you have the video to keep. You can remove anything you want to salvage and say bye. Even the floor is rotten. If pushed on the side, it would probably collapse.
OMG…wow the kerosene heater! My dad had one of those he put in the fishing shanty he, myself and my brother built when we were kids in the early eighties that we would put on Lake Champlain in Vermont!!!
Great look at the old cabin. You could paint that oil stove and use it as a plant stand in the house. It's been fun to see the evolution of your property/ house. Cheers from Canada 🫶🇨🇦
I was waiting for Julie to scream as she was going through the mini cabin cupboards 😊 I know a guy on TH-cam who would try some of those foods you found from the 80’s 😊
a honeymoon cabin is a really cute idea... however that place is way to far gone.... tear it down and build a cute little tiny house honeymoon cabin for yourself... make your own memories in it...
Oooooh my the stories this cabin could tell. I'm sure you will find an ol sourdough that has vast experience restoring beauty's like this. Good luck and thanks for preserving history
That stove is great for decorative painting. Sand, Rust Reformer, prime, paint, and a painting picture of trees and woods and animals and flowers with a cute cabin… is what I’d paint on that. My mom used to paint everything. Definitely see if the popcorn works.
It looks good sitting on the property, but not sure it’s worth totally restoring. You could put some rafters in enough to hold a few new pieces of roofing, may need to prop the ends from inside, to stop further damage
The cabin looks like a loss. It looks so pretty with all that snow. Your place is looking so good every time that I see a new video. Thank you for sharing and God Bless you and your family. 🥰👍👍👍👍👍(🌹🐞🦂🌵)
The trees look so beautiful covered in snow- they don’t look real! Julie you found a few good treasures in the cabin- I loved the old sconce candle stick holders. It will be interesting to see what you decide to do with the cabin and whether it’s worth the work. It still looks very picturesque against your beautiful snowy backdrop! Until next time!❤😊
This video was anudder goodun !!!! Talk about a kid in a candy store I was right with yall searching thru the Honeymoon Hotel !!!! But, listen, let’s not throw the love shack under the bus yet. Call the knuckleheads and Melissa to come join yall to re-vamp it. Talk about a dynamic team ???!!!!! It’s so hard to say goodbye to yesterday’s “things”. Absolutely love this channel 🤗🤗 Happy Thanksgiving !!!!
hi, you should clean the things and the wipe the stuff ,you can wash, and the pots and pans soak, and remove the burn stuff off, and when you finish cabin, built shelf and put the stuff back in the cabin.that is what I would do.
My Kodi was a Husky/Border collie mix and when she hit the snow she would leap through it. My boy, Herc, was Dane/Shepard and he just plowed through it like a tank lol
That old stove is so cute. I see it as a little end table to set a cup of tea on, on the porch maybe. Give it a coat of paint etc. and attach a round wooden top.
45 yr old popcorn !!! Same year of the birth of my first child, my daughter. 5July 2024 she celebrated her 45th B'day on holiday in NZ. ( from Ipswich Queensland Australia)
I thought they'd find Pamela Vorhees' severed head in there for a moment.😂😂 If anyone can salvage this, it is these nice people. It really is a cute little log cabin. Hope they can bring it back to life.
I watch a guy up in Minnesota who does snow blowing with his kubota. He coats the inside of the snow blower with spray turtle wax. He says it does an outstanding job not letting the snow stick to the blower. You should try it on your bucket. Thanks much for the video!
The glasses looked like Fostoria knockoffs. The cabin can be jacked up and new foundation logs placed under. Rotten logs up top can be measured and replaced. Just a matter of time and patience. Wish is was 30 years younger! Blessings and Joys for y'all and your famiy. Sam in Virginia.
Just love everything you 2 are doing, what a inspiration you are to your children. Makes me laugh when your son adds the laughter in the video. Julie I'm sure alaska snow same as Idaho is much easier to drive in than wet slippery Seattle snow. Happy Thanksgiving from duvall wa❤🙏
I’m 78 years old and enjoying you both…especially your discoveries and interactions with each other. Keep it fun as you have been doing. You two sure beat what’s being billed as “entertainment” on TV these days. BTW, I’m an old radio guy, having had a career in the field. Your son seems to come up with music that seems like a theme (5-10 original note melodies). Is there more to his compositions? Or just the themes you are using for background “music beds.”? Thanks for letting us enjoy your life vicariously! Happy Thanksgiving!
After the "dead body under the blanket" comment you picked up the little cooler. That cooler looks like an organ donor red and white cooler 😂 I would have been outta there so fast. I am terrified of spiders (we have big ones here in Australia) I would be making my hubby move that stuff while I stood at the door for a fast escape route. 🏃♂🏃♂That round metal disk looked like a trivet for the bottom of a waterbath canner or pressure canner. Hahaha Jello is only 40 years past it's use by date - should be good 😬 I was 10 when that baking powder was past its use by date, that's wild 😂😂 I love how its so peaceful after a snowfall. It seems so still. The dogs playing in the snow was fun to watch. 🌸🐨🌸
Kudos to you both! I would NOT have ventured inside that cabin! What was under that pile of stuff in the corner that you didn't want to uncover Julie? And did you keep the popcorn? 😁
I would sooooo fix the cabin...soon....they are a pleasure to be in...and do you have any problems with bears?.....that wood stove is worth money don't let it rot
You should get Joas Miller to come take a look at the structure. He is one of the owners of Meadowlark Log Homes in Montana, but Joas and his family live in Alaska now. They build log homes in AK. They have a TH-cam channel too. It’s called Montana Haven (Alaska Edition). Great guy! You two can collaborate!

All the vents let light escape and decorate the room when in use.
You could probably sandblast the thing to get off all the surface rust
Thanks for the info!
Its 1am and found the best part the snow removal to Ethans music. Relaxing
Glad you're enjoying the videos and the music!
That random handle that you found goes to that perfection oil heater.
It’s amazing how much the previous owners hoarded and just abandoned. It is amazing you took it on but I am sure you will make it beautiful ❤❤❤
I see a match in the cabins future
😂
Love the idea of refurbishing the cabin. The candle sconces are great. Take measurements and rebuild it to look like the original. Save some of the shelves, table and dishes to put into the refurbished cabin.
Love the candle holders near the window LOVE THEM !
That popcorn came from around Valparaiso, Indiana. I met Mr Redenbacher after he and his wife went on an around the world trip. Their one granddaughter was in my class, graduates of 1975.

Some of those things should be antique keepers.
Next week time you have open fire throw that popcorn in, fun to watch it,pop. What an adventure in that cabin, don’t you wish them walls could talk. Snow looks beautiful. 😊

The old truck would look wonderful in front of the house decorated with Xmas decorations and Xmas trees 🌲

Time to get a snow blower/thrower... we enjoy your vids... cheers from Northern Ontario, Canada...
Yes! We just got one it works great!!

Great memory. Thanks for sharing!
CUTE??? ARE YOU KIDDING? 😮😮😮
I am amazed that the crystal whisky tumblers never broke in all those years. They look like Waterford to me and they maybe marked on the base. I wonder if the veg peeler was still sharp?
The snow looks lovely too. Thanks for sharing.
My Mom had a complete set of those exact tumblers, large and small. These are the smaller ones.
I was watching this video again. It looks like it would cost more to repair this cabin than to let it go. At least now you have the video to keep. You can remove anything you want to salvage and say bye. Even the floor is rotten. If pushed on the side, it would probably collapse.
Yeah. It's in pretty bad shape. ☹️
OMG…wow the kerosene heater! My dad had one of those he put in the fishing shanty he, myself and my brother built when we were kids in the early eighties that we would put on Lake Champlain in Vermont!!!
I enjoy your channel so much 👍🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽thank you 😊
You are so welcome!
The cabin would look beautiful decorated for Christmas!❤
Great idea! Lights at night would be a cool view from their house!
Save the candle holders
Great look at the old cabin. You could paint that oil stove and use it as a plant stand in the house. It's been fun to see the evolution of your property/ house. Cheers from Canada 🫶🇨🇦
Thanks for watching!
@OffGridInAlaska you're welcome!
The pepper shaker took me back. I think my grandma still has that set
That flat aluminum piece with the holes in it is for the bottom of a canning pot. Some people use it so roasts won't scorch the bottom of their pots.
A trivet i think .
Another great video. I can’t believe that old popcorn still popped. Isn’t that something? Thanks for sharing.❤
Thanks! Yes we were surprised too with the popcorn. 😊
Beautiful transformation from fall to winter, another great video, thank you for putting it on.
You are so welcome!
I love that stove.
Love the honeymoon cabin..i see potential in it..can't wait to see what you guys do with it
Might want to push that snow to the tree line. You are going to need the room.
I came here to say the same!!!
Love the picture you found and the bear target. Can’t wait to see what you’ve going to do the place!
Same !!!!! Can't wait!
Thanks so much!
I was waiting for Julie to scream as she was going through the mini cabin cupboards 😊 I know a guy on TH-cam who would try some of those foods you found from the 80’s 😊
😂 luckily they weren't too bad!
a honeymoon cabin is a really cute idea... however that place is way to far gone.... tear it down and build a cute little tiny house honeymoon cabin for yourself... make your own memories in it...
Interesting finds in the cabin. Lol, powdered beans!
It all looks so pretty with the snow the dogs having so much fun. Love the vintage cabin look forward to seeing what you decide to do with it. 😊
Thanks so much!
Am surprised the mice didn't chew up the books ,oh you guys make everything fun love you guys ,ooohh Julie not the jello
The round thing with holes in it is to put in the bottom of a pressure canner to put your jars on for canning
I really like your land that is beautiful, you talk to us like we are standing right beside you.
Thanks for watching. 😊
The doorhandles and maybe the chair and table would be worth taking out too
maybe save the beams and rebuild it with new foundation and roof and some new beams
Oooooh my the stories this cabin could tell. I'm sure you will find an ol sourdough that has vast experience restoring beauty's like this. Good luck and thanks for preserving history
Hoping you can salvage the little cabin! So fun to watch. Mahalos
That stove is great for decorative painting. Sand, Rust Reformer, prime, paint, and a painting picture of trees and woods and animals and flowers with a cute cabin… is what I’d paint on that. My mom used to paint everything. Definitely see if the popcorn works.
Bear. Foldable is a target
That round metal piece goes in a pressure cooker.😊
It looks good sitting on the property, but not sure it’s worth totally restoring. You could put some rafters in enough to hold a few new pieces of roofing, may need to prop the ends from inside, to stop further damage

Thank you so much!
To easily remove fresh snow from stairs, walkways and cars try using a leaf blower. Keep on your porch and just work your way down to the cars.
Great tip! We will try it.
This video was anudder goodun !!!! Talk about a kid in a candy store I was right with yall searching thru the Honeymoon Hotel !!!!

Awesome idea! Love your comments!
Great video ❤
Thank you!!😊
Such a fun project.
Your precious baby girl needs snow boots ☺️
hi, you should clean the things and the wipe the stuff ,you can wash, and the pots and pans soak, and remove the burn stuff off, and when you finish cabin, built shelf and put the stuff back in the cabin.that is what I would do.
Great idea! We will keep as much as we can for sure! Thanks for watching.
Oh wow save that old stove.
The metal circle piece can go in the bottom of the pan to keep veggies from being in the water and allow them to be steamed.
My Kodi was a Husky/Border collie mix and when she hit the snow she would leap through it. My boy, Herc, was Dane/Shepard and he just plowed through it like a tank lol
Dogs are fun to watch in the snow!
Here’s a little bit of history in there
That cabin is charming.
No place for comments now, so I just want to say thanks, I enjoyed the look back in the cabin
😊
That old stove is so cute. I see it as a little end table to set a cup of tea on, on the porch maybe. Give it a coat of paint etc. and attach a round wooden top.
Great idea!!
45 yr old popcorn !!!
Same year of the birth of my first child, my daughter. 5July 2024 she celebrated her 45th B'day on holiday in NZ. ( from Ipswich Queensland Australia)
So take the curtains down and wash and iron them and put them back in the cabin after you clean and fix it up.
The yard looks so nice covered with snow you could have a good snowshoeing trail weaving through the property.
Very true!
Kenny knows snow removal. Heated vests are awesome. 👍👍👍
Julie loves her heated vest. Heated gloves are next on the list!
Thank you for the tour of the cabin. Would like to see it with all the junk out of it. Maybe it would look more promising for fixing up.
We'll do a clean out video in the spring. 😊
I thought they'd find Pamela Vorhees' severed head in there for a moment.😂😂
If anyone can salvage this, it is these nice people. It really is a cute little log cabin. Hope they can bring it back to life.
Ahhh ha ha Mr bookman lol George castanza live there at one time ,you guys antiquing in the old cabin 😊
Great catch on the Seinfeld reference!
That was a good episode 😅
I think I would have kept the green bottle with the handle on it.
You could also put some corn in the ground to see if it sprouts.😊
I watch a guy up in Minnesota who does snow blowing with his kubota. He coats the inside of the snow blower with spray turtle wax. He says it does an outstanding job not letting the snow stick to the blower. You should try it on your bucket. Thanks much for the video!
Interesting! Thanks for watching!
I had one of those heaters too, here in Scotland. Really effective but got lost in a house move, missed it as it was great in my workshop.
Thanks for sharing and watching from Scotland!
Looks like a dump run is required
Try to plant the popcorn seed, and see if it grows.
I like your son's music.
Awesome!
That's a target bear! Put it up against some stacked straw bales and have at it.
Really? Why?
Happy to hear you are going to fix up the cabin. It looks better without carmageddon around it.❤ Carmageddon video. Nice music Ethan.
Thanks so much!
You are so kind! Julie has been driving the last couple weeks and is getting the hang of it. Much easier than Seattle snow. You are right!
Maybe clean out the cabin and use it like a shed? Or wood store?
Nice place- will follow you on this project♦
Awesome, thank you!
Be able to fix that little cabin up and make it like a guest house
We would love to but it may be beyond fixing.
Please please try to rebuild. I have been watching you both since the very beginning! Love your adventure.
Thanks for watching!☺️

Love the cabin and I would probably contact a log cabin builder and they might know of someone who does restorations. ❤
I love your movie my first time here
Awesome! Thanks for watching.

😂 the funny thing is there are very few spiders in Alaska and they're much smaller then the ones we're used to in Washington!
Please tell me you saved the pretty green bottle with the handle. So many treasures. Yall have really done a ton of work.
Yes we did! We haven't gotten rid of anything. Waiting until the spring to clean it out. 😊
Thought I saw an gas powered push type snow blower in the garage during the garage clean-up starting all the vehicles and machines video
Yes there is. We have not tried to start yet.
Kudos to you both! I would NOT have ventured inside that cabin! What was under that pile of stuff in the corner that you didn't want to uncover Julie? And did you keep the popcorn? 😁
It was just blankets thank goodness and yes we tried the popcorn. Watch until the end. 😊
@@OffGridInAlaska I did. What I wanted to know was if you threw out the rest of the jar of unpopped corn or have you kept it?
If you don't want to change the tires on wyley yet next town look for some tire chains
We just got brand new tires for Wiley. 😀
you should tack down some roofing shingles on your steps so that no one slips and falls.... asphalt shingles work great fro traction
Good idea!
Feed birds with the 40 yr old popcorn? :)
The one was a wood splitting maul and the other is a grub hoe for digging our smaller roots and chopping them out
The shade that is falling apart have you thought of turning it into a carport
I would sooooo fix the cabin...soon....they are a pleasure to be in...and do you have any problems with bears?.....that wood stove is worth money don't let it rot
We have not seen any bears but they are around

We'll take a look. Thanks for the tip
all you need is a match
And I saw there were a book of matches on one of the shelves!
😂
A teapot ? 😂😂😂😂 It's a kettle.
WHY WOULD THEY HAVE AN IRONING BOARD? LOL
That is a great question. 😂
Am I the only one who was really interested in what kind of jeans they were?😂
When we do the actual clean out in the spring we'll pull them out and give an update. 😊
