Good video Scott. I have the same bow, the AF Archery Tatar Takedown version at 40 lb. with Bearpaw glass, ash and bamboo. It also shoots absolutely great.
Thank you Jarmel, I really appreciate your time my friend. The takedown version is interesting to me. I've thought about moving up in draw weight. I do not think I am ready for it yet though. How is the stability of the takedown? I definitely think this was a great purchase for me. I appreciate the the comment. Have a great evening my friend! Best regards
@@ScottWinters I’ve had the takedown version about a year. Armin Himer reviewed it about 15 months ago on TH-cam. Once strung, you don’t know or feel that it’s a takedown. It is solid. They go up to 50 pounds draw weight. It looks almost exactly like the one that you have and shoots great! It has gone up in price since I bought mine. The last time I looked, the price had increased by $50. I hope this helps.
Thank you for the great information. I might like to try the takedown version at some point. Would definitely make it easier to transport if needed. Price increases seem to be norm for everything now. My friend I appreciate your time. Have a great day! Best regards
Hi Mr. Scott you're shooting great 👍 I love the AF tatar bow. It is with the bow that I began my path of traditional archery. I have the one from 5 years ago and in my last video here TH-cam you can see it. Is great bow and still working. Keep having fun Brother 🏹👊😊

That bow looks really nice. I've been planning to try an asiatic bow, but hasn't happened yet. You and Handy are really giving me the inspiration. Great video as always, thanks for sharing!🏹
Thank you Shane. It's been refreshing to try something new. I can definetly say that it is challenging getting the hang of it, but it is rewarding at the same time. Hopefully you will have the chance to get into it. I appreciate your time brother. Have a great day. Best regards
You should check out Charlie Greenberg. That guy took Asiatic archery to extreme levels. And I'm not exaggerating, he invented a whole new sport of running archery, it's insane. If you want to really get inspired to get into Asiatic and eastern European archery, that should definitely seal it for you.
I agree. I have three of them from 2016. They were longer then with a 130cm/51in string. Smooth, fast, quiet, no vibration/shock. Shoot as well as my friends' Salukis, which really pisses them off. ;)
i quite like my AF bow but mine came in way under weight. it was not until later that i learned AF, and most of the chinese makers, measure draw length to the throat of the grip exactly. not 1.75 inches in front of the throat like the "west". so for example, a 30 pound AF bow will be 30 pounds at 29.75 inches using the western AMO method. order 5 pounds more than your usual weight.
That's great information my friend. I'm just getting started with this style of archery so any information is useful. I think I need to measure what length in actually pulling to with this bow. I've been thinking mybdraw length was longer with this one, but from what you stated in probably still at 30 inches. Definitely appreciate your time and the info. Have a great evening. Best regards
When I looked it up, it specified compound bows as the only times you measure 1.75" in front of the bow... I see plenty of western archers measuring from the front edge of the handle...?
I have always measured from the front of the shelf and tried to make sure I have at least 1 inch of arrow out front. Can’t say that I always do. Really for safety more than anything, especially if you use broad heads. Appreciate your time my friend.
Awesome my friend. I think the next one I purchase I am going to go up in weight. I appreciate the comment and your time. Have a great day! Best regards
I haven't tried that draw weight yet with this one. I would say you can't go wrong with it now matter what draw weight you go with. It's a solid bow, well constructed, and shoots extremely well. If you do get one in a 50 lbs draw I would like to hear your experience with it. I appreciate your time and that you took the time to comment. Have a great day! Best regards
Great video and now. I’ve had mine for about 3 weeks, absolutely love it. Scott, can you provide some specs on the arrows you’re using. Thanks again for the awesome review.
Thank you my friend. The arrows are made by Linkboy. 500 spine and 32 inches in length. Insert is a 50 grain with a 125 grain field tip. Bare shafts at 32 inches are 7.9 grains per inch. Completed they come in at about 462 grains and at a 35 pound draw weight the are approximately 13.9 grains per pound. I think I got the specs right from memory. I did a video about these that can give you specifics. I really appreciate your time and the comment. Have a great evening! Best regards

Is your AF Tartar Bow still going strong w/o any issues? Seems there are quite many complaints of de-lamination and limb splitting???? How is your bow performing?
Nice video and great looking bow. Did that string come with that bow or did you put a new one on? What kind of draw are you using? A thumb ring, two finger, ect... Thanks, Daniel
Thank you my friend. The string came with the bow. I have since made a few for it. I was using a thumb ring I have switch to a leather material thumb ring/protector. I haven’t bridged the gap yet to shoot without something on my thumb. I appreciate your time my friend. Have a great evening. Best regards
I've a question about my draw weight. I'm a beginner, at archery class I shoot with 26, 28 and I also tried the 34. I struggle with the 26, I'm quite short and I feel I can't give enough power to the arrow. When I asked to AF archery, with my size and draw lenght (24) and my height 150cm they advised me the 20, but I feel it will be even worst than the 26. I would like to know, as it's a traditional horsebow maybe it's right to low the draw weight. I'm thinking to buy at least the 25lbs. May I also ask, what kind of arrow should I buy for this kind of bow? thank you!
In my honest opinion, a lower draw weight is good to get the fundementals down. A low draw weight will still produce good results with the right arrows. If you are struggling at 26 lbs of draw weight I would stay in the 20 to 25 range for a while. Actually the 20 lbs weight would not be bad at all for building strength and honing in your fundementals. I would prefer proper form anchor and release over being able to draw the heaviest bow, and doing so with bad mechanics. The goal is to start where you can comfortably draw and for longer periods of time. The long goal is to build up to higher weights. As for arrows look for arrows with a low gpi while shooting lower draw weights. The low gpi will make the arrow lighter and increas arrow speed and perceived power. When you do build up strength and increase draw weights you can move up in arrow weight as well. Also arrow length for your draw length I would stay 30 inches or shorter, but not too much shorter. Look for 600 or 700 spines and you should be good. I hope I helped you and I hope I didn't confuse the question. Feel free to contact me again for any help or advice you need. You can find my email on my website if you need any other advice. Thank you for your time. Have a great day
@@Flyingalpaca If you pull a hard to pull bow (not impossible) a few times on each side, once or a few sets per day... Try and sleep well. You will get stronger very fast. Doing it daily is more important than doing a lot each session when it comes to learning and building muscles... I like shooting a bow that is quite easy to pull, and pulling a bow that is hard to pull for strength. Using both sides as equally as possible is best from a medical perspective as well as is what most traditions teach... EDIT, oh, and you might be surprised how much more you need to eat when building muscles... If you find yourself feeling weak and downspirited a lot when exercising every day, it might be that you just need more calories as your body is trying to build and improve.

Do recurve and horse bows have the same draw poundage feeling? I mean, would you feel the same drawing a 25lb recurve on a horse bow with the same poundage?
Thanks for the question. The draw weight feels the same for both style of bows. The way they are designed is the only variation in how they feel when shooting. Have a great day. Best regards
Kevin, i appreciate the question and your time my friend. Of course you can. You could even use it as a traditional bow. You would just need a leather glove or half glove if you are using your hand as the shelf. Fletching doesn't play well with bare skin. Thanks again for your time. Have a great day! Best regards
These days, TOP SHELF, NAME BRAND, AMERICAN MADE, MEANS VERY LITTLE. there are to many lies, mis representations, and biased reviews. But I can actually say, at the age of 68, and 45 years of archery experience, i own several Asian bows that out perform every American bow that I own. I figured this out before the year 2000. SO IT AMAZES ME THAT AMERICAN COMPANIES HAVE NOT ADAPTED TO THIS. AMERICAN MADE IS THE BEST, BUT ONLY WHEN WE MAKE THE BEST. MANY OTHER INDUSTRIES AND PRODUCTS HAVE FALLEN INTO THIS HOLE. ITS SAD THAT I MAY DIE DURING THIS OBVIOUS AMERICAN DOWNTURN.
Thank you for the comment. I have never had to deal with customer service so I can't speak to that. I have had success with the bows that I have purchased. I hope you have a great day. Best regards
I could see why people would like one or the other, they do feel very different to draw and shoot even though both are similar in draw length, speed and preferred arrow weights... That Sipahi shape with its spring-like feel might be my favorite as well... The Tatar shape is super easy to string, has a softer draw feeling, The Sipahi shape is more like a spring that just stacks more and more towards the max draw... Gives it a springy feeling...

I had and loved that bow! Delaminated on me tho after 2000+ arrows and is now unsafe to shoot. I 100% would have bought another but I found a Daylite Monarq at a good price.
Thanks for the comment. Sorry to hear about your bow. Haven’t had one delam on me yet. Hope I never experience that, sounds like a scary experience.
Thanks again for your time. Have a great evening. Best regards
Really enjoy watching your video your shooting looked fine to me fantastic bow! I been shooting for many, many years, I shoot for fun enjoyment if you will. I shoot a bow of that level, they shoot well & give nothing away to other bows you got a great attitude. Last love your music choice good R&R, FROM THE 5Os

Thank you for the comment and the kinds. I really appreciate the feedback. I try to keep a positive attitude at all times. I do the same, shoot because I love to, no pressure, and I like to work on myself to be better every time out.
Love the oldies my friend. Although I think it dates me a little LOL.
I appreciate you my friend. Have a great day! Best regards
Thank you so much my friend! I really appreciate the kind words. I have so much to learn to even get close to you and Handy, but I am loving the journey. I hope I have as much luck long term with this one like yourself. I appreciate your time brother! I hope you have a great day. Best regards
You seem like a really cool guy. Love the energy and the review. Good luck
Thank you for the comment. I appreciate it. Have a great day! Best regards
great review man, love this AF Tatar, its on my hit list for my next bow. Subbed.
Thank you so much my friend. You will definitely enjoy it. I really appreciate your time and the comment. Have a great day! Best regards
That would be a nice little turkey hunting bow.
Yes it would, although I cannot imagine changing up shooting style so close to season.
Is there a website link we can buy this bow?
You can get them at AF archery online or you can get them on Amazon. I appreciate your time. Have a great evening. Best regards
Nice and interesting video,i really enjoyed it
Thank you for the comment my friend, it is appreciated. I hope you have a great evening! Best regards
179 usd for these bows on Amazon USA shipped right now! Nice bow that I use every day in a 50 lbs version...
Awesome my friend. I think the next one I purchase I am going to go up in weight. I appreciate the comment and your time. Have a great day! Best regards
thinking abot getting this bow. what do you think of the 50lb ?
I haven't tried that draw weight yet with this one. I would say you can't go wrong with it now matter what draw weight you go with. It's a solid bow, well constructed, and shoots extremely well. If you do get one in a 50 lbs draw I would like to hear your experience with it. I appreciate your time and that you took the time to comment. Have a great day! Best regards
I'm quite satisfied with mine👍🎯
Thank you my friend. I appreciate the comment. Glad you are enjoying yours. Have a great day. Best regards
Great review brother
Nice Vid Scott ¡¡¡¡
Thank you my friend. I appreciate it. Have a great evening. Best regards
@@ScottWinters Thanks for the quick response Scott. Recently subscribed to your channel, great content. Side note, have you had a chance to review the AF Turkish Bow?
Holy wow! You have got a ton of views on this video already! I think the arrow pass noise will go away the more you shoot it? I am not sure if I hear that on my bow, or I just never noticed. I will have to check mine and get back to you on that.
Thanks Handy. It's not super loud, the problem I have is that once i notice something my brain is wired to constantly notice it LOL. All in all I love this bow. I definitely want to develope a deeper understand of everything about this style of archery. Not sure how I got that many views on this one. Brother i appreciate you! I'm glad we have connected here. Have a great evening. Best regards. .
Just found this video--can you still recommend it? Also curious what arrows you are using. I am looking for a mid-range horse bow, and I am wondering if this might be it! Thanks!
Hi Scott, I'll get right to it.... What bow string material would you reccomend for the Tatar Bow ?
I pickup one and just looking ahead... Thanks Bill
Mine currently has D97 fast flight on it. You could use either that or Dacron B55 and get good results. I hope that helps. Appreciate your time and the comment. Have a great day. Best regards
@@ScottWinters Thank You Scott for the reply. I am considering both materials to see how the bow and material responds.
Cheers & have a great weekend
Nice 👍
Thank you for the comment and your time.
Have a great day
@@ScottWinters oh my gosh thank you very much for your answer :) it's so helpful and clear! Thank you!
Thank you for the comment. I like using the bag target filled with plastic. When the bag wears out I can reuse the plastic filling in another bag. I really appreciate your time my friend. Have a great day. Best regards

It is a good bow.
Thank you for the comment my friend. It's one of my favorites that I own. Have a great day! Best regards.
If you wanted to, can you use this for a hunting?
Kevin, i appreciate the question and your time my friend. Of course you can. You could even use it as a traditional bow. You would just need a leather glove or half glove if you are using your hand as the shelf. Fletching doesn't play well with bare skin. Thanks again for your time. Have a great day! Best regards
Is this a Kids Bow or can a person Hunt useing this Bow
How far is the target?
Ho lo stesso arco da 40 lbs in forma smontabile, è stupendo.
Thats awesome my friend. It is a joy to shoot. I am glad I added it to my collection. Have a great day. Best regards

No, this is one piece. I have been wanting to try the break down version though. I appreciate your time my friend. Have a great evening. Best regards
Very noisy. Even with a decent katra.
Thanks for the comment. Have a great day. Best regards
AF Archery's customer service SUCKS!
Thank you for the comment. I have never had to deal with customer service so I can't speak to that. I have had success with the bows that I have purchased.
I hope you have a great day. Best regards
Try the Turkish. I prefer it to the Tartar.
Thank you for the suggestion. I will look into that. Have a great day! Best regards
Thank you for the input my friend. I really appreciate it. Have a great evening. Best regards
