We also do both, tailgate out a load or spread with a machine, and it depends what's around us, wires, trees, etc.. and you'd right, if it's your equipment, then do what you want, that driveway, I'd done what you did,, dump and spread it

    Steve it sounds as if the customers neighbor might be a little bit jealous of her driveway looking good. We have a lot of that down here in Bama. Neighbor really likes it but too dang tight to spend a little bit of money to improve his place. LoL I've had that same thing happen to me and then next week he called me and hey come give me a price on fixing my driveway because my wife seen it and is on my ass now about our driveway. LoL. The classic "Cape Cod" look would be a far closer look like your own home driveway and I don't specifically what stone you have in your driveway that is available in the Northeast, but I really like your own driveway stone which has a lot of white and tan colors..

Base was 4 +/- inch then 2 +/- inch then 3/4 B gravel. I find fabric does not stop weeds and a pain to work with and when pieces poke through years later.

    i believe the best way is to dig out enough dirt to place used tires down, but also cut the sidewalls on each side of the tire out then dump the gravel down, the tirers will keep all the gravel in place, use cement blocks as borders all around. you will never ever get any pot holes and will last forever or until you dig up the gravel and tires.. it is so strong as well that you could driver an 18 wheeler over it with no problesm...just my 2 cents.. your job looks great thought...you will never get any rain water build up because the water will seep through with no problem as well..

    Your comment at 19:45 is the reason you forward spread your stone from the pile. Then your tracks are always on stone. Can't believe you didn't roll a base layer. Even if the customer doesn't want it, it's your responsibility to educate them on the whole process and why you need to do certain things. If you can't convince customers what needs to be done properly then walk away and let someone else be a hack.

    • @DirtBrute
      @DirtBrute  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Forward spread? Oh, so you’re the guy that just pushes the pile over knocking them into the woods making a fucking mess. Besides, you’re always going to have some dirt that falls off your tracks. The driveway already has a pretty hard base layer of clay, rock and stone. Why would you rip off the customer by selling them something they don’t need ? That was one of the hardest based driveways I’ve worked on plus the dense grade material we use packs like concrete. It’s been almost 2 years now and the driveway still like the day we left it so save your speech for something you actually know about.

    I don’t know if I like it, just sayin, if she wanted country she should have used natural looking gravel, not black asphalt. But I’m no expert, just sayin (smirking) ☺️

      That’s not black asphalt. It’s crushed blue stone that is wet . It’s what she already had there for years in most spots. Also native to our area . Thank for watching

    12 tons on that truck, not safe at all, and i bet not legal at all.

    • @DirtBrute

      Actually, it is legal. Truck has an aluminum frame . It’s lighter than it looks when I built the dump all day I took out the ribs to reduce weight in the passenger side tank is completely empty. Dummy tank just for looks. I also took out the spring suspension and put an air ride because it’s significantly lighter. Truck is a custom built Truck that is completely legal in my state .

    Like they say, a fool is born every minute. I have never been a student to stupidty. I am a student of what needs to happen, and asphalt guys would be laying in what's needed. All that vegetation within 15 feet of the driving would have been dugged out for various icy n debris falls and failures from heavy snow and ice. The stupid gene of it looks cute don't run in my veins. What's safe and easily maintained does. Gravel don't fall in that catagory.

      Sometimes you have to do what the customer is paying you . It does not matter what you suggest they do or don’t do . It’s their property and their money . As long as. It’s legal and up to town code you just do it or walk away . If I walked away from every customer I didn’t agree with I’d have no business. Thanks for watching

    Big Tip. Watch Andrew Camarata repair roads and driveways before you do another.

      🤦‍♂️ Andrew is in New York. Not the same material or soil conditions. Plus Andrew doesn’t do anything special or different.

    That driveway will wash out in a year or two, poorly engineered. Looks good cosmetically, but it won't hold up!

    • @DirtBrute
      @DirtBrute  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It still looks the same today . she was just looking for a touch up . There was no engineering. 😂

    Not worth a shit. Need to dig down, remove that soupy crap, play down geotech, they compact 3/4 down limestone in 2" lifts. Waste of time.

      @DirtBrute  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      😂😂 we don’t even have lime stone here. I don’t know where you’re from, but dense grade the best material here. Nobody’s gonna put down Geotech and import limestone, to fill in some pot holes on a gravel driveway 😂 what do you expect me to charge this single mom $100k. ?? I’m not geologist, but from what I understand limestone breaks down over time anyways. Thanks for watching.
