@@cliff1422you’re welcome! Always experiment with your retrieve. Sometimes a very slow crawl on the bottom is good, sometimes a small hop off the bottom, 6” or so. Always mix it up until the fish tell you what’s the preferred method that day.
Hello Adam and thank you for watching! I throw my jigs on a 7’ 4” heavy, fast action rod. I was using 17lb Seaguar Invizx fluorocarbon at this event due to the clear water. If I wasn’t fishing so much wood I would have went to 15lb. If the water was stained I would typically have 20lb line on. I like the heavy rod when jig fishing and the fast tip allows me to get the jig hook buried into their jaw quickly. A medium heavy rod just doesn’t have the backbone I like. I want the heavy so I can control the fish and get them out of the cover quickly. Good luck out there on the water!

Matt I was curious what baitcast reel were you using & what type & brand fishing line? When you hooked a fish it was super smooth reeking in. No line noise etc. just curious!
Hello James! Thank you for watching my videos! I use Lew’s reels and that particular reel was the Lew’s Custom Pro 8.3:1 ratio. I use Seaguar InvizX Fluorocarbon 20lb line. This is my third year using the Lew’s reels and I’ve been very happy with how smooth they are and how they have held up. Good luck on the water and don’t hesitate to reach out in the future!
I did fish a lot of points, but I was focusing on channel swing banks with lay downs. I was using a 3/8 oz green pumpkin/purple jig my friend makes for me at Falcon Tackle in Littleton, CO.
Is the retrieve there on the jig a drag or a full lifting and falling off the bottom?
This trip I was lifting it and letting it fall. They hit it on the fall most of the time.
@ awesome thanks for the reply

What is your rod setup? Action power length and what line do you use? Great videos.

@@Masseyfishing thanks Matt. Appreciate the info!
Looks like you were keying on points. You some leap frogging during this tournament. Looks like you were pitching a jig mainly on the points.
