      Really I don't give a damn any Democrat that want to steal cheat and destroy America is wrong. But when it's time for them to give up there seats they will do anything to keep it. Just because you got the power to do anything. Well let me tell you this Mr. Jason you don't see what I see. And what I see is a lot's of Democrats and including Yeng is in Congress for the money and not for the American people and that's how it is. Got it. So don't say a damn thing to me until you get your damn brain check out. And why you at it pick up a history book and read it. But until now I'm going to block you out my mind.

      I urge you to listen to a long from interview with Yang like the Joe Rogan podcast. Your concerns with Yang will all be answered there. @Dalton Taylor Fair point, but also this is just a surface level interview to introduce people to Yang's ideas, and those things you're talking about tend to be more deep-dive style topics included in longer interviews, so I don't really mind that they weren't there.

    It's interesting hearing people say Yang's plan takes away from "being an American", because "Americans work for their success, they don't take handouts" yet a majority of Americans struggle while trying their hardest for a system that is built against them. 1000/month is not enough for anyone to stop working and that's a fact, but it's enough to help out millions of people who legitimately need it. #Yang2020

    This really is the future! When jobs disappear to automation, there's these people saying "there will always be new jobs". Obviously this will not work forever. Is it really fair that companies who previously needed to employ 100 employees and now can employ 10 because of automation will keep their profit for themselves? Of course not! It's only reasonable that everyone gets their fair share of the economy, and then we can all share the jobs left to do. Work less, having better lives. From Wikipedia: "It depicts a dystopia of automation, describing the negative impact it can have on quality of life. The story takes place in a near-future society that is almost totally mechanized, eliminating the need for human laborers. The widespread mechanization creates conflict between the wealthy upper class, the engineers and managers, who keep society running, and the lower class, whose skills and purpose in society have been replaced by machines. Many people discuss the idea of UBI under an ethical spectrum, and while it isn't incorrect, I believe it's far more effective to discuss it under a practical spectrum. Not a single minimally-informed human being would deny that automation is on the rise, and that more and more human jobs will disappear as it grows and evolves.
      If you take this assumption to its logical endpoint, eventually most, if not all, human jobs will be automated, meaning most, if not all, humans will be non-productive and, by extension, non-consuming (since currently, productiveness = money = consumption). Now ask yourself: what good is having an automated factory that can create thousands of products in minutes if only a handful of people worldwide can afford them? It breaks offer and demand, which breaks our whole capitalist economic system.

      @@ftw5064 -- UBI is so much better than this current trickle down economy. This trickle down economy has always assumed the rich would redistribute wealth by creating more jobs. That just isn't happening. There is another business principle that isn't working today because of the rich. The market place runs because people buy things therefore putting money back into the market place. Rich people really don't spend much. Rich people invest but a majority of their money is safely locked away. UBI will give the population spending power. That $1000 a month won't just get thrown in savings accounts. That $1000 a month will go directly back into the market place. UBI is a very good step away from trickle down economics. In the last 30 years CEOs have increased their salaries over 1200% while the average citizens salaries have increased incrementally. Money is sticking not trickling.

      $12,000/yr would make them homeless and without healthcare.
      But it is a good point most people neglect with their "3 trillion" .
      It would eliminate 1.5T from the hundreds of bureaucratic programs it replaces.
      And the funding side starts balancing even more simply due to economic growth and offset from rich people who will pay the $12,000 back in taxes.

      @@kimvansandt2906 Heck, it would be life changing for the vast majority of Americans. Imagine completely erasing or reducing your rent every month to 60-70% of what you were paying? Thats like having an extra payheck of disposable income every month. Thats: Pay off all your debt money. Thats: Go back to school money. Thats; Leave your crappy job that you feel trapped in money. Thats; Actually start saving for retirement money Thats buying a new car and being able to play the monthly payments or maybe just paying for it completely in cash. The vast majority of the reason people are stressed is because of money issues. If money wasn't an issue you'd have a happier society overall. Less crime, less drug dependency which means people will be more charitable and helpful to one another instead of cut-throat because of a lack of resources.

    • @Kit-se3zs
      @Kit-se3zs 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      --because (I should've elaborated) first we need to "get the economic boot off of our necks". UBI would allieviate the rampant scarcity mindset. Most people, like me, who may care and worry about the future of the planet are too focused on putting food on the table and getting or keeping a roof over their heads to have time or the will or energy to get involved with climate change, environmental, or conservation activism. I really believe that if people had some financial relief we'd be able to breathe and then be more prepared to give of ourselves and help out in our communities and be better human beings in general.
      That said, what i do worry about with UBI is by giving everyone more buying power we'd remain stuck in a vicious consumption cycle and only continue polluting the planet with disposable goods. We'd have to collectively be even more vigilant about how and what we consume.

      @Bruce Schram you make very compelling arguments against his platform. Please elaborate

    • @shanmantv
      @shanmantv 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Bruce Schram the tax Yang plans to put in place wouldn't be noticeable under his program as you'd be getting that money and thensome back through the Freedom Dividend. I won't explain all the complicated math right now but you'd have to spend $120k+ a year for the tax to start negatively affecting you, which is the point to begin with. He also wants to remove the tax from more consumer goods like groceries, diapers, etc. It makes more sense for you to be penalized through taxes when you buy a yacht instead of groceries.
      The tax is about being fair. It's not fair when trillion-dollar companies find loopholes to pay 0 in taxes (less than you) while benefitting off of new technologies as regular workers get left in the dust to deal with the consequences. Besides, these massive tech companies already make millions off you. If you have a Google account (which you do) you are signing partial ownership of your data to Google. They are allowed to sell it to third parties. Data is valued higher than oil now. This means companies are already leeching off of you for profits. It's only fair you get compensation.
      If you give that money straight to the people, it will only stimulate the economy as that money would circulate through your local communities. We would start building the economy form the ground up rather that the "trickle-down" system we have right now that doesn't work as displayed by the wealth disparity. Milton Freidman, the grandfather of conservative economics who wrote several textbooks on the subject, said that our current trickle-down system was only meant to work with a Basic Income. This makes sense as a means to prevent the wealth disparity.

    • @AlliFalli

      Can you explain how you think Bernie sounds like Yang in any way?
      The only reason people like Yang ever even got the idea to run, is because Bernie showed that people want progressive policies, Bernie is the sole reason for why candidates even dare to mention m4a, free collage, higher taxes on the 1% etc. Everyone in the democratic primary has leached off his proposals, which is great if those candidates will follow through with their promises (Warren), he has brought leftist ideas into the mainstream and to suggest he is somehow looking towards Yang as an inspiration and copying him is ridiculous and a very politically illiterate way of understanding.

      @@AlliFalli yang supported Bernie in 2016 so chill. other candidates definitely, and sanders possibly, have used yang's talking points recently. I counted three when warren was on Colbert. as yang said though in this interview, he fully expected this to happen and welcomes it in a sense.

      @@AlliFalli I think it's important to realize that Yang and Sanders are both very much fighting for the same goal; improving the everyday lives of the majority of Americans. They just have differring opinions on how to get there. Yang was a Bernie supporter '16, just like many of Andrew's core supporters. Many of the YangGang will often have Bernie or Tulsi as their number two choice so it isn't as though the two bases are that far apart, it's just that they're equally passionate about their candidate.
      The most egregious instances of candidates sounding like Yang are Pete, DeBlasio, Tim Ryan, and Tulsi. Marianne as well, has adopted UBI but she outright cites Andrew's book for her inspiration in doing so. Tulsi is talking UBI and automation, but not necessarily mentioning Andrew.
