    So sad more people didn't give Andrew Yang the attention he deserved during his run. One of the most down to earth, knowledgeable, and fair people to ever run. We had a huge opportunity to set some regulations on AI in place but people didn't think it would come this fast. If we don't start soon it will be so far gone we will have missed the chance to keep it in check.
    Best of luck Andrew. I'm still hoping your voice will make a difference.

    • @jmhorange
      @jmhorange ปีที่แล้ว +8

      There's stuff happening with regulations and people across industries fighting for it. I'm glad Yang has been talking about AI for a while but it's hard to write regulations before a new technology or new changes in society comes to pass. Courts are very reluctant to speculate for the future as there might be unintended consequences. We haven't missed the opportunity. The opportunity is now.

      In the words of Donald Trump, "The media treats me so unfair" - In Yang's case, it is true, they set double standards for Yang and demonize him for things that they wouldn't do to his opponents. They cut his air time and limit his exposure to the public as well. In the presidential debates, he was given a few minutes to answer questions and debate while the other more popular candidates were given way more time, like Biden were given what seems like forever to barely answer anything. Even in the NYC mayoral election, Yang was vilified by progressives because of his political views of Israel while his opponents who share the same views got no heat for it at all.

      It is cheaper to convince people of a short idea like "I'm not crazy like my opponent" (basically the platform that Biden ran on) than to try to convince someone of a more complex argument like, "smart computers that don't exist yet are coming for your job in a few years". • @brunhildewagner1198
      @brunhildewagner1198 ปีที่แล้ว

      Another bad idea with good intent by a man who has probably never read Adam Smith's Wealth of Nation or Milton Friedman's Freedom and & Capitalism. When you give everyone $1000, it basically raises the prices of things in the market, because people are an additional $1000 flush with cash. This is simple economics. In other words, the $1000 becomes the new zero. As an example, the covid era "stimulus" (which Yang himself mentions were basically tax credits and child care paychecks etc) was one of the factors in the inflation that soon followed. Also, there is a moral issue - the government will be coercing the high/middle income earners to chip in for the Basic Universal Income for the others who do not have income or have low incomes. What gives the government the moral right to force a benevolence for the low income group out of the rest of the citizens, with the tax collector's gun to their heads? I am sure this idea is well loved by all the moochers & looters in the crowd (which is the unfortunately majority of you Americans who do not have *any* knowledge of basic economics, history or civics). There is no such thing as a free lunch people! Basic Universal Income is merely wealth redistribution not wealth generation.

Personally, I'm not even considering marriage or kids knowing the way things are now and where things are headed. Thanks Mr Yang! I think a 4 day work week is necessary for health. To have one day for chores, one for relaxation or recreation, and one for food prep. The latter could lessen the reliance on fast junk food which causes health problems. Community centers could have cooking classes geared to educating on healthier food options and how to’s..I also agree on someone’s comment about education finances/money management in public schools. Universal income would be great, but considering wealthy corporations are good at dodging taxes..putting money overseas, how to pay for this? I do trust Mr. Yangs creative ideas and ability to work with others on this though.I agree the structure of most social programs can be an oppressive trap, and hard to navigate, possibly at least some of those jobs can be transferred to administrating the Universal income if that became a reality. Hopefully we will not hear the last of him, and I like that he is not polarizing- I’m tired of sound bites and cliche’s from politicians pitting one against another..Can’t wait to hear more from him.

      True. The reason why wages at the lower end have stayed low is because Democrats have been using nonstop immigration year after year, high taxes, over regulation and the phony global warming scam to put slack in the labor market and drive down wages at the bottom and increase housing prices at the same time. To the point tens of millions of Americans don't have any money left over at the end of the month. Which gives all the power to employers. And its the lack of power in the hands of employees that allows the excesses at the top, causing the wealth gap.
      Minimum wage makes the incomes zero for people that have low skills or bad work records. Raising the minimum wage is sadistic.
      Compare that with the conservative model of using low taxes, less immigration, and less regulation to tighten up the labor market. Which raises wages, allows mobility, allows for advancement, allows people with lousy work records or low skills to get decent jobs, and gives people dignity. If liberals were capable of empathy and compassion and cared about the little guy, they would be Kennedy/Reagan conservatives.
      "The ever expanding power of the federal government, the absorption of many of the functions that states and cities once considered to be responsibilities of their own, must now be a source of concern to all those who believe as did the great patriot, Henry Grattan that: “Control over local affairs is the essence of liberty.” Commencement Address, University of Notre Dame, January 29, 1950.....John F.Kennedy

If the hourly minimum wage gets raised, it's only the small business owners that will get hurt. If UBI gets implemented, it will help not only my workers, it will also help the homeless who dont have jobs. It will dramatically uplift the economy from the ground up. People having extra money will help the small businesses as well since people will shop more. I still remember when people got their stimulus checks, it definitely helped my business.

People who get paid minimum wage usually have trouble with not just purchasing producs but also with rents and utilities. raising the hourly wage will barely help the small businesses in the later future, because it doesnt really give more "buying power." just barely. plus with income tax and such, theyll still fall victim to taxation n still be under financial struggle. @@lamorthonyfairyfriend4082increased participation in the primaries would be a step in the right direction. I think people's issues with Trump and Covid following after overshadowed all of the other candidates' policies.

    Andrew Yang as president would be so refreshing. He actually has solutions and isn't even 80 years old. Blows my mind how so many argue about which grandpa should be president.

    No one bargains harder than the house. His theory that having your basic needs met gives you better staying power in job negotiations seems fine but the house always has more resources, more staying power, and other people lining up to take what you won’t. But the phrase: “no one should be working and be poor”, I like the spirit of that and I agree. Some of the most physically exhausting jobs pay so little, and create a culture of working overtime to really make ends meet. We do need a change, but for the life of me I don’t have any great ideas and I’m open to listening and exploring.
