Excellent info, you two! Truly enjoy watching your videos....so entertaining. "Doing the tent thing.....which is called 'camping', by the way." Hilarious. Thanks.
2000 watts of roof solar (self installed), and 600 watts of portable with a Bluetti AC300 with 4 B300 batteries (12,228 watt/hours) with transfer switches for both ac and dc. It's simple math.
Love your channel. What is really bumming me out is that everywhere they talk about solar and off-grid, it is all Battle-Born and Victron. There are very few channels out there that give other options other than those. No doubt that if you have the money, you can just buy these components and put them in...they'll work. The thing is that there are other options out there. I've designed and built my own system and have used NONE of those things. I am using lithium, but not BattleBorn. Using not one Victron product. Not that these are bad companies, but they are EXPENSIVE. I made it my thing to learn how to make a system for myself and I did. Great topic, guys. Thank you for sharing!
@@ThisNomadicIdea As quite possibly the WORST vlogger ever, I haven't posted a video since right before CHRISTMAS on my build, but I think showing a non-traditional electrical set-up would be something that might help people out. Do you think it would be interesting?
We are big time boon dockers (in fact we have only camped in a campground one time in all our married life of 25 years) we always go where there are no neighbors.. I have filled many ruts and holes with rocks and even fire wood to be able to get the truck and trailer somewhere... No one has ever bothered us or our stuff when we leave the site leaving our trailer sitting there all day. I think it's because people think we are kind of crazy lol... We don't have Solar because we live in the pacific north west, we do have a two smaller generators that we can connect when we use one it's not very loud. We are going full time in two years.
When we “dry camp” we have to make sure the gas tanks are filled, water filled so you pay for those and with gas getting to almost $7… Yes, you named it gas prices have risen in California!! We love our generator but that takes more money because takes gas to run boon docking too!😂 We fill extra tanks up too for our fire pit too! Finding free places to dump and fill water helps and know there must be apps out there. Such as Campendium. Many truck stops have these too!
The investment in solar and lithium batteries adds value to your rig as well as the quality of life while you are using the rig. You may be out there utilizing it 6 months or 6 years but you don't make that investment based on the assumption that you are going to fully use it all up all by yourself. You use it as long as you want to and then sell it to the next guy that wants a system like that.
Maybe, but the price of Solar and Lithium are dropping in price. So you may not ever get your initial investment back. My system is already old compared to cheaper better systems sold today. But you make an excellent point. Thank you 🙏
Opinions are like a-holes, everybody has one and and they all stink. Do what makes your life easier and better and ignore to negative comments. They don't want to pay what it's worth but someone will.
I just bought an 83 Holiday Rambler Ambassador 24 with a Ford E350. I have never owned one and don’t know what I am in the nomad categories yet. It is not free. I’m still in my apt and not slept one night in Ambassador Happy Dayze and he is already costing me 2 Gz for tranny, power steering, fuel pump, fluids etc. Nope not free rather just a new category under the shelter umbrella. 🤪

Have no idea what your post means. ??
I believe they are talking about the fact that its fairly easy to determine your energy needs.@@ThisNomadicIdea

Any suggestions for cheaper batteries?
I love these Sunday podcasts. I love that you have a schedule. I've got my Sunday night planned now.
🙏 Ok, you just made our day.

Awesome 👏 We are right there with ya. Although it is a bit tougher to find boondocking real estate that is secluded lately.
Good to hear from you!! I sooo miss your Thirsty Thursday live streams....
Hey Mama Mack!! Yea, us to but it killed our channel views. We go live every other week on Sundays. Hope to see you there. Thank you 🙏
Free isn't always "free", but it's far better and far less than a KOA.
Sure is!
$250 generator running an hour or two a day can recharge batties for next to nothing

Ansolutly NOT. You will never get back even 25% of your investment in solar should you sell.
Pfft that's like adding a supercharger to my vette and thinking it's worth $8000 more now because that's what the super charger cost !

Why are solar panels so trustworthy?
They don't work in the shadows.
Good topic. nicely done.
