It took total 20 days. Beyond Manali if you will go by hired bikes then it will be a problem in Leh, as the tourist car owners won't allow you to ride other states t permit bikes in Leh and Ladakh region. If you want to ride bikes then my advice would be take you car till Leh and then you can Hire bikes at Leh and go to Pangong lake, Nubra Valley on bikes hired from Leh. This would be a much convenient option. And from my view point the best way to go to Leh is via Srinagar and comeback by Manali.
The total cost on per person basis was Rs.35000/- which includes fuel, food and stay. We didn't consider spare parts and general repairs and maintenance before the trip. That went to around 1 lakh.
Daksh mr I am using the car since 6 years. For the price which Mahindra is selling the car is best in class I would say. Ride quality is pretty well and compared to fortuner, I found XUV better. But take a test drive and only then decide.

XUV is a good car. Feature rich compared to others in its segment and price range. Mine is a 2012 model and using it now as well. Comparing between XUV and Innova will be very difficult as you can see many tourist do prefer Innova. The best way to see both of them is by their handling ability and price comparison.
@@dparapid for this particular trip the car was hassle free to us. Maintenance wise being a Mahindra it is quite easy to maintain and spares are easily and cheap compared to other brands. We could unnoticeably drive at 160kmph but due to speed limiter set by the company the car started giving warning indicator. Sudden braking is also good but depends upon the driver as well. It has ABS and EBD which does not allow the car to swing alot on sudden brakings or high speed turns. Mileage wise on this particular journey of Leh trip it gave an overall mileage of 11kmpl which can be the best possible considering the road conditions and weather conditions. If set on cruise control on long highway journey at between 60 to 80kmph you can also achieve a mileage of 18kmpl

Total budget for our trip was 35k per person including food, stay, spares and fuel. We were 3 people so overall it went 1,05 000. And the total trip days were 20 days. If have a month in hand then you can cover sonamarg, gulmarg and nearby places of Srinagar. If you need any help for booking hotels we can advise you on that. Our 1st halt was at Jaipur so Noble house is a good hotel and is on the national highway only.

Hrishikesh Mahant we would suggest go by a diesel car as that will give you a good mileage and see which is more comfortable in driving. Mumbai to Udaipur will take a maximum of 12hrs including all the halts for breaks and fuel stops. We would recommend you to drive at Night time only because the whole highway will be empty as at many places you will have to pass through small villages which will be a bit problematic during day time. NOTE:- PLEASE DRIVE CAREFULLY AS LOT OF STRAY ANIMALS ROAM ON THE ROAD and may jump infront of the car at anytime once you leave the express highway. We have personally driven twice on that route and that too at the night time only as you won't be facing any sunlight blinding or hot weather during afternoon time. Moreover your car will also not heat up too fast due to cold winds.

Sumit Ranshoor yes you will need 20 litres minimum extra when you are travelling to Nubra, Pangong Lake and Tso Moriri as their is no petrol pump for approx 400kms. We had extra fuel and we did refill the car at Pangong Lake.
I would suggest when you are leaving from Leh for Nubra and Pangong do carry 40 litres extra to be on a safer side as the local villagers sell diesel at Rs.100 approx per litre
Bhai humari front wheel drive hai. Aapko All Wheel Drive ya 4*4 ki zaroorat nahin hai but road ko aache se navigate karna toh aap Nano se bhi jaa sakte hai
malhar mahagaonkar from my experience, the car is totally reliable. I am using it since last 6yrs and didn't face any issue at all during the whole trip related to car. Only the underbody engine cover broke because we hit a stone and not a single issue.

malhar mahagaonkar I can't say how good will be the 2nd hand car, but XUV brand new of mine never gave me any major problem or maintenance. If you get the car regularly serviced then it wont give huge maintenance cost. Being an MUV it does most of the things which an SUV can do, Their are few do's and don'ts with the car because it has a very delicate electronic system. And even I am thinking of swapping my car with a new Automatic XUV. It is a FEB 2012 model W8 FWD.
Yearly maximum cost of maintenance is not more than 7k to 8k if you are replacing the whole engine oil. And if it is only top up then maintenance will be more cheaper.
CRIC EXPERTS i20 Active has 190mm ground clearance so it can easily be driven if the person driving the car navigate the roads well. Locals drive altos and have seen them going to Pangong but if they make a mistake then car gets stuck in streams.

Fitness Club best month is rainy season. Starting from June till September. If your car has around 200mm ground clearance you can go easily. Local people also travel by Alto so it is not a big issue if you take any car. Just be carefull while driving and no big issues. Roads are rough and you need experienced drivers.

Vishal Panchal hi bro, the route which you should opt for is Ahmedabad-Srinagar-Kargil-Leh-Nubra-Pangong-Tso Moriri(if you wish to go)-Manali-Ahmedabad.
Vishal Panchal per person the cost for the whole trip was Rs.35000 and we had booked hotels only upto Srinagar and later on from Kargil onwards we searched and did spot bookings only. If you like to drive and have a good company then please take your own car because this is a lifetime experience. Take a car which has good ground clearance.
Vishal Panchal carry lots of water and drink it too. A day before ypu reach Leh take Diamox Tablet half 2 times in a day so that you dont get mountain sickness.
Vishal Panchal Car & Bike Spares like air filter, fuel filter etc. Tire Inflators, battery jumper cables, torch, tire repair kits, a very strong rope (in case you get stuck somewhere), additional Fuel Can of a minimum 30 ltrs, engine oil. Diamox Tablet for preventing mountain sickness (Take half at a time twice in a day, start 1 or 2 days before reaching Leh) Snacks and lots of water (incase driving in your own car). It saves a lot of money over there. Car Navigation or Mobile would do but pre download the offline map of the whole region, Power Bank( It is a must when going to Pangong and Tso Moriri as most of the tents does not have sockets for charging gadgets), car and bike mobile charger, spike guard(to multiply charging socket) and laptop incase to transfer photos and all A simple mobile phone with BSNL SIM CARD other than your smart phone (Smart phones do not receive signal at Pangong and other areas). Lots of warm clothes, Camphor Tablets (kapur tablets:-in case you get breathing problems smell these tablets and your problem will be solved) In case of some emergency please carry your general medicines to cure your sickness.

@@abhidasandroid5326 if you are going via Srinagar you won't need any permit till you reach Leh. Just at few places your car papers and id card would be checked and at Kargil you need to register yourself at the checkpoint itself. But when you want to travel to Khardungla, Nubra, Pangong, Tso Moriri, etc and then towards Manali that time you will need Inner Line Permit from DC office Leh. While applying for the permit keep additional days in hand. Because we had decided a total of 3 days and added 2 more days but due to weather conditions our permit had expired and we were out of options as well. So atleast take 6 to 7 days permit as it costs very less but then it will be a saviour for you people.

From Mumbai we had started and I will give you our night halt places and thats the route we had followed. Mumbai-Jaipur-Jalandhar-Udhampur-Srinagar-Kargil-Leh-Hunder-Leh-Pangong Tso- Tso Moriri-Sarchu-Manali-Chandigarh-Jaipur-Mumbai
That was the whole circuit in the particular order. You can also go via Manali but if your body won't be acclimated with the sudden change of climate then it will be a problem so the suggested route is to ho via Srinagar and return via Manali this way you can enjoy whole circuit and see the scenic beauty if J&K as well as Himachal Pradesh.

The overall mileage which we received was 11kmpl. This is the fair mileage as the road conditions were pretty bad and ac was on continuously.

malhar mahagaonkar from my experience, the car is totally reliable. I am using it since last 6yrs and didn't face any issue at all during the whole trip related to car. Only the underbody engine cover broke because we hit a stone and not a single issue.

malhar mahagaonkar I can't say how good will be the 2nd hand car, but XUV brand new of mine never gave me any major problem or maintenance. If you get the car regularly serviced then it wont give huge maintenance cost. Being an MUV it does most of the things which an SUV can do,
Their are few do's and don'ts with the car because it has a very delicate electronic system. And even I am thinking of swapping my car with a new Automatic XUV. It is a FEB 2012 model W8 FWD.
Yearly maximum cost of maintenance is not more than 7k to 8k if you are replacing the whole engine oil. And if it is only top up then maintenance will be more cheaper.

Fitness Club best month is rainy season. Starting from June till September. If your car has around 200mm ground clearance you can go easily. Local people also travel by Alto so it is not a big issue if you take any car. Just be carefull while driving and no big issues. Roads are rough and you need experienced drivers.

Vishal Panchal hi bro, the route which you should opt for is Ahmedabad-Srinagar-Kargil-Leh-Nubra-Pangong-Tso Moriri(if you wish to go)-Manali-Ahmedabad.
Vishal Panchal per person the cost for the whole trip was Rs.35000 and we had booked hotels only upto Srinagar and later on from Kargil onwards we searched and did spot bookings only.
If you like to drive and have a good company then please take your own car because this is a lifetime experience. Take a car which has good ground clearance.
Vishal Panchal carry lots of water and drink it too. A day before ypu reach Leh take Diamox Tablet half 2 times in a day so that you dont get mountain sickness.
Vishal Panchal Car & Bike Spares like air filter, fuel filter etc. Tire Inflators, battery jumper cables, torch, tire repair kits, a very strong rope (in case you get stuck somewhere), additional Fuel Can of a minimum 30 ltrs, engine oil.
Diamox Tablet for preventing mountain sickness (Take half at a time twice in a day, start 1 or 2 days before reaching Leh)
Snacks and lots of water (incase driving in your own car). It saves a lot of money over there.
Car Navigation or Mobile would do but pre download the offline map of the whole region, Power Bank( It is a must when going to Pangong and Tso Moriri as most of the tents does not have sockets for charging gadgets), car and bike mobile charger, spike guard(to multiply charging socket) and laptop incase to transfer photos and all
A simple mobile phone with BSNL SIM CARD other than your smart phone (Smart phones do not receive signal at Pangong and other areas).
Lots of warm clothes, Camphor Tablets (kapur tablets:-in case you get breathing problems smell these tablets and your problem will be solved)
In case of some emergency please carry your general medicines to cure your sickness.

@@abhidasandroid5326 if you are going via Srinagar you won't need any permit till you reach Leh. Just at few places your car papers and id card would be checked and at Kargil you need to register yourself at the checkpoint itself. But when you want to travel to Khardungla, Nubra, Pangong, Tso Moriri, etc and then towards Manali that time you will need Inner Line Permit from DC office Leh. While applying for the permit keep additional days in hand. Because we had decided a total of 3 days and added 2 more days but due to weather conditions our permit had expired and we were out of options as well. So atleast take 6 to 7 days permit as it costs very less but then it will be a saviour for you people.

From Mumbai we had started and I will give you our night halt places and thats the route we had followed.
Mumbai-Jaipur-Jalandhar-Udhampur-Srinagar-Kargil-Leh-Hunder-Leh-Pangong Tso- Tso Moriri-Sarchu-Manali-Chandigarh-Jaipur-Mumbai
That was the whole circuit in the particular order. You can also go via Manali but if your body won't be acclimated with the sudden change of climate then it will be a problem so the suggested route is to ho via Srinagar and return via Manali this way you can enjoy whole circuit and see the scenic beauty if J&K as well as Himachal Pradesh.
