To make a smaller tree look taller, you can make a higher box and add a simplle interior shelf perhaps 6 to 8 inches up from the bottom. I would have to do the math, but it would work to elevate a 4-5 foot tree and it would not look out of proportion.
I love the boxes, especially the dark one under the Christmas tree. I also like your idea of filling them with potted plants in the summer. Probably on a porch instead of outside in the weather. Did you put your name and date under the boxes you made. You should with a black permanent marker for posterity especially after doing suck a good job. I love the X's on the front of the boxes. What's the name of the tool that was hammering in the nails so easily? I need to get one. Thanks for the video. (Looks like you had a good helper too.)
