Audi RS6 2024 review: Performance | More V8 power for BMW M5 and Mercedes-AMG E63-rivalling wagon!

- The 2024 Audi RS6 Avant has arrived in Australia in its new Performance flagship form, which is aptly named. Now, the much-loved five-door wagon already delivered incredible straight-line speed in the premium Large Sedan segment, but it's now levelled up - again.
Of course, the Performance nameplate is no stranger to Audi's RS series, where it's previously signified an even more powerful version of a particular model. Thankfully, it's a similar story here, with the RS6 Avant's 4.0-litre twin-turbo petrol V8 engine increasing its maximum outputs to 464kW of power (+22kW) and 850Nm of torque (+50Nm).
In this expert review, CarsGuide Senior Journalist Tom White takes the new BMW M5 and Mercedes-AMG E63 rival for a drive on- and off-track to find out just how much better it is than its already fantastic predecessor.

Long live the performance wagon!
I can remember a time when the ' bottle holder ' wasn't a issue in a car.
Glorious machine and sexy as, wouldn’t remotely contemplate a E-Tron GT over this, nice car for an EV for sure but I’d have the RS6 all day every day particularly in Performance spec.
Id buy this if money was no object
Would buy this over RS7 😃
cool!
so the bottle holder is narrow?
There are two bottle holders in the centre console with a folding tray lid to hide them away, but they aren’t huge. Bigger bottles would have to go in the door bins, but even then they’re a bit height-constrained.
i just cancelled my order.
thank you for your investigative journalism@@carsguide
What size rim and tires are those
This RS6 wears 22” alloy wheels in 5-Y-spoke design, matt grey with 285/30 performance tyres. Cheers, CG team
Having seen a RS6 person, I think that the stock rims on this car are the nicest stock rims that I have ever seen on ANY car. Actually the nicest rims I have ever seen.
Really etron GT. They depreciate like rockets and no one wants them
It has everything except ' value '😅.
Blame the triple dipping by fed and state gov for that
They fall apart, costing a fortune to fix. Nothing to enjoy here.
At $260k its stupid. These "luxury" cars should be mid $100k at most, and "normal" cars be $30k cheaper. Australia is becoming such a stupid country
On average the price for Australian cars is $37k. I'm not sure how average cars can go $30k cheaper.
No idea where he got that number from. If it’s in USD, starting price is 125k.
Australian currency which also adds a brutal "luxury car tax"@@ggNotSuree
40k in federal luxury car tax and same type of state tax in QLD for 15k. Total in luxury car tax is 55k
.least it's not electric rubbish but only for elitist, so no interest.
Waste of money. Stuff like this is worthless a few years later.
