Love to see my two first precons mentioned in the end :) but I'm rather surprised that no Eldrazi precon has been mentioned. Even the MH3 one has a huge potential out of the box, an amazing mana base, and not even with the most expensive Eldrazi spells (be it creatures or anything else) there are ways to make the deck significantly better...
@@adamallen8840 It's good but there are PreCons that are so much stronger. If you have tough creatures and maybe even can remove the strongest Enchantments, the deck can be countered pretty easily. Try Virtue and Valor - it shits on pretty much every other PreCon. The card draw is absurd and if your luck isn't horrible with what you draw you're going to roflstomp your opponents. Put in some stuff that gets you more mana to use all the cards you drew and it gets completely nuts. At high powerlevels it probably starts to get worse as people basically just throw removal in their faces and Tribal Armor won't do against Exile and Sacrifice but there are even multiple Auras that come back or bring your whole Aura-based Graveyard back when casting them. I don't like to play at high powerlevel because, like I've said, the game switches from 'Everyone does nice stuff, let's see who wins' to 'Let's just shit on everything the others are doing' and I'm not enjoying that as much. I currently own around 30 PreCons and, out of the box, none of them is as powerful as VaV.

That Elven Empire deck seems really awesome! Im curious if you have messed around with Enduring Enchantments Command Masters Precon and what you thing of it? Its the second of two decks I own and I really enjoy it.
Hi, a question, I'm torn between jump scare and mothman. I know they have different playstyles, but which one would you recommend taking considering the starting deck and the competitiveness while investing relatively little? Thank you
Veloci-ramp-tor is the precon I wanted to buy but I got completely turned off when I realized even the LGSs were selling it at scalper price. Almost turned me away from the game completely at the time,
Define scalper price, because there is a general market price. Every LGS I know of sells older precons at their general market price, and not the usual $45 new Precon price.
Great list and probably similar to how mine would look.... I notice a lot of comments about other decks that are potentially powerful but most of them rely too much on their commanders to be consistantly powerful in an experienced play group making the choice to not have yhem on this list correct
I wonder why Omo's precon wasn't on the list, the reprints were off insane, the deck was extremely powerful and pretty complex and fun to learn how the deck works together.
Searched and searched in my area for the velociramptor precon. Almost paid for one at a game store an hour away. Went into my lgs one day just to buy a few packs the manager im really close with we grew up together. Brought me out the precon and told me Merry Christmas bought it for 65.
I think Animated Army (with Bello Bard of the Brambles leading it) is a great mention for this list!! I bought it back when it came out and I’m yet to lose a game with him! I’ve won every game I played with the precon and 3 cards swapped.. insane
Sporocyst is probably the strongest card in the Tyranid Swarm deck once you switch to Magus Lucea Kane. I normally win the turn after unless someone kills the commander, but then I have enough mana to recast her until I do.
I've never really liked Elevn Empire. Maybe I should try it again. I do have the ramptor and merfolk decks as well and they're incredible. Not even in the same hemisphere to me in terms of fun or how strong they feel out of the box.
I have the tyranid precon deck, and to me it is just so slow. Because of X+Y cost and ravenous the X only starts to work lategame. It's not seeing play often. My favorite precons are Peace Offerings along with Food And Friendship. Both get into swing of things quickly, and they have given me many enjoyable games as well as wins or near wins.
Yoooo Tauna, I'm Brenden, who you played at GUF. That deck was actually pretty strong, it was definitely one of the stronger boards I've played against. Was great playing against you
Yeah man, was super fun. While I definitely don't think I won that mat h alone (thanks to that counterspell saving my board lol) being able to constantly get more Knights out for free and have them be invincible and unblockable was insane
Prismari Performance should absolutely be in this list. Is it as strong as Stella? Absolutely not. But its storm turns (yes there's storm cards in the box) go absolutely insane. Zaffai is a super underrated precon commander spawning an army of 4/4s, and with the scrying it's scary consistent
Not sure if people agree with me on thia but i think the ruinous power should be in this list. The deck is amazing. And goes absolutely crazy with upgrades like leyline of transformation and anger. Put in a bit of counterspells and you prettymuch become death destroyer of worlds😅
Love the list, but would take out the party time and put the endless punishment on its place. The deck out of the box is a machine in terms of dealing damage, put the game in fast mode and always menacing, and u can use either valgavoth or lord of pain as comanders and stays as powerfull as it is, also is very easy and cheap to upgrade If u want.
The merfolk deck is seriously good and upgraded it makes me feel bad for my opponents. Especially if I get a wandering throne out and doubling season or even hardened scales.
@@coralguy7470 I have the graveyard overdrive precon too and it isn’t that strong if it isn’t upgraded. It’s really slow straight out the box. Might just be time to upgrade your own deck if you’re having trouble with it
Definitely agree with a lot of the choices here (Merfolk, knights, Necrons). Though imo 2 of the strongest Precons are missing. „Enduring Enchantments“ and „Urza‘s Iron Alliance“. Enduring Enchantments overpowers most precons by being more synergistic than others. It runs very well (lots of ramp and repeatable card draw) and triggers so many times per turn (with all those constellation effects since most nonland cards are enchantments). It’s not unusual to play multiple enchantments per turn and trigger like 4+ times for each one. Plus you can recur enchantments easily so it‘s really unlikely your opponents will somehow stop this deck. Urza‘s Iron Alliance is insane. I played it against a tuned deck and only lost because my opponent used a lot of artifact removal and wipes. The board got wiped five times, just in time before I would have overrun him. Even then, the fact that this precon can consistently recover from 4 wipes and rebuilt a wincon in just a few turns again is crazy. I even witnessed how this overpowered the merfolk precon.
I have the merfolk precon that I've upgraded, and my friend also has an upgraded enduring enchantment deck. This depends on the table, but I think the only reason that deck would be stronger than merfolk is if no one in the table have any ways to remove enchantments or the graveyard, both of which rarely happens in my mid PL pod. Even the red magda player in my pod usually have some ways to exile other player's graveyard 😂 But even then, my friend still hasn't won a single game with that deck even when no one is playing white or have the tool to remove graveyard early on. People usually start to band together and beat him up once he starts reanimating the scary expensive enchantments and with merfolk it's actually very easy to make everything unblockable via herald of secret streams, islandwalk from lord of atlantis/master of pearl trident + tide shaper, or even the merfolk that makes other merfolks fly. That way, unless my friend can setup both the greater auramancy and sphere of safety/ghostly prison he will lose. For a precon only game it's definitely a strong deck though just because most precons usually don't have enough way to interact with enchantments or the graveyard.
I think you're exaggerating quite a bit there on both decks to be honest. Urza's is nice but very slow and highly susceptible to removal. If Urza is gone, the main power source of the deck is gone. Idk what your opponent did there with their deck but if he needed to wipe the board five times before he could beat you, it certainly wasn't an upgrade if your deck was out of the box. As far as Enduring Enchantments goes - I agree on the synergistic part and card draw. A big problem is that often you have 10 or more things out that basically do little to nothing for you in terms of staying alive or even being able to attack. The immense card draw should solve that problem but surprisingly often it doesn't. If the opponents know the deck and therefore know you're having to stall until you get something going, you're in trouble. If you like this deck, though, perhaps try Virtue and Valor. It's basically the same but Aura-based and much stronger.
(Enduring Enchantments and Virtue & Valor) , As I played both of them, they do different things. Yet What I love most Virtue & Valor is it has lots of backbones for strong enchantments card draws cards, I put these into Mazzy Truesword paladin. If Enduring Enchantments does it's own things well, it's a beast
@@style0vertalent191 Virtue and Valor is also good but it is weaker to removal than Enduring Enchantments imo. If the creature dies the auras also go to the graveyard.
@@style0vertalent191 Those 2 are obviously not perfect but for precons they are crazy. Also, just a few upgrades can solve the issues those two decks can face sometimes.
Got to unfortunately disagree with a couple of these. Namely the inclusion of the Tyranids and Sauron precons anywhere near the words "Most Powerful". I own the Tyranid precon, and used to own the Sauron precon before I sold off the cards due to lack of interest in the deck and wanting to upgrade others decks I owned at the time. They're both incredibly clunky. The Tyranid precon is filled with big creatures that need high X values to draw cards, but lacks the ramp or cost reduction needed to effectively play them even against other precons. It's card draw outside of ravenous is dreadful and yes while you can run Lucea as your commander and you should, the deck doesn't have enough protection for her to stick around long enough to do anything as it has barely any removal and no counterspells. The Sauron precon I just found jumbled between several cards that had little synergy with each other, as it's half army deck, but those cards don't work with what Sauron wants as a reanimator effect, and what big creatures they do have aren't impactful enough with the notable exceptions of Scourge of the Throne for extra combat steps with your 9/9 commander or the dragon that creates treasures, but that one already reduces it's cost to the point where it's not really too big a deal to cheat it out. They're both just not up to scratch, especially compared to their sets.
Enduring enchantments not on this list is a crime, easily the strongest precon I’ve ever played with and against, completely dominating even with a mid starting hand and downright oppressive with a good one. Also the Sauron deck is garbage compared to Frodo and Sam. Food and fellowship has infinitely more synergy, Sauron is trying to be a spellslinger, reanimator, burn deck and does none of those efficiently enough to warrant any spot on this list. Solid list besides the Sauron deck and enduring enchantments not being on here. Also no eldrazi mention is questionable.
I think "upgraded" can mean anything from "I'm switching out some of the tapped lands for better duals + remove some odd inclusions to make space for a couple obvious inclusions" to "I switched around 60% of the cards" so it's difficult to base a precon's power level on "powerlevel after upgrades". At some point it's not a precon anymore and just a highly optimized deck with whatever commander. In the end, I think there's a ton of commander precons that get incredibly strong, after you switch around, say 20 cards and at that point it's basically taste and your own meta when it comes to "what is the strongest". Eldrazi will always be a bit busted in low interaction slightly more casual metas. (as you said, kill on sight.) But a lot of upgraded precons just go nuts, if someone gets to untap with their commander in play.
@paulszki Zhulodok is a colorless commander, so no duals. The mana base is pretty great out of the box. My point was that it is a very powerful pre-con out of the box. That's what the list was about. The latter addition was just emphasis since Tauna talked about upgrades in the video too.
