Ok if you came across this video, let me put your mind at rest. Today I had IV sedation for dental work for the 3rd time in a few years. The worst part is ONLY your OWN anxiety in the waiting room before you are called for your appointment. Once the sedative is administered, it's a totally different ball-game. You likely won't actually remember anything from the procedure, more likely to just remember being woken up and taken home by your friend/partner/parent/etc. So other than that it's just the usually numb lip sensation you have for a couple hours afterwards. Honestly guys, the worst thing about all of this is simply your OWN anxiety during the morning just before you go to the dentist, because it's all running through your head, and then you have it down, and you think "what on earth was i worrying so much about??" It almost makes you wish you could have sedation for every procedure, although I don't know how ethical that is lol.
I lot of people with dental phobia are also scared of needles. I can't get over the fact that your answer to this is is to stick a needle in them. I've yet to have it explained to me how IV sedation is of any use to people who are allergic to local anesthetic, and who have severe panic attacks due to the symptoms caused by that allergic reaction.
@@barredfrompup Lobby the government to reintroduce GA in dental surgeries, or refer people like me to hospital to be put to sleep, not that the NHS will do it unless they consider you to be, after a month of psych evaluation and form filling, to be a mental vegetable.
Wait so if I don't feel nervous I don't need IV sedation for extracting my wisdom teeth for example? One of my wisdom teeth has been extracted by my dentist because it was rotten and was hurting, he only numbed it with a couple needles, no IV sedation. I was fine no pain at all, so maybe I don't need IV sedation for the extraction of the remaining three wisdom teeth?
Eek I'm getting IV sedation in August to have all my top teeth pulled 😫😭 this video has chilled me right out I was worried I would be aware of everything during the extractions. Hopefully I fall asleep too like the guy did🤞🤞

Thank you for this. Going in tomorrow and I'm absolutely terrified I'm going to die. I needed this.
Woken up? But sedation isn't supposed to put you to sleep.

What do you want them to do?
