Wondering if Vortex will take it to a 3D build. #CheaterKwad is growing and I cannot wait to see what pilots with more skill than me are able to pull off.
So i was browsing TH-cam just before Xmas and stumbled across a rotor riot episode , never heard of fpv before now i'm hooked and just got back from a practice session....keep up the good work guys
An improvement to freestyle! I enjoyed too much with the final footage, a really good step forward. There's no stop, makes me wonder how's gonna be like in a yeaar or two from now... guys, I loved it! keep it up!!
daaaang that was cool. so exciting to see new things happening in flight. i mean 3d hasn't even really become mainstream and we're doing things like this, now if only there were a way to switch the camera not only back and front but upright and upside down, for when you transition to 3d. some very strange things could happen lol
You miiiiiiiight want to check that #CheaterKwad i can confirm two people are uploading footage of 3D CheaterKwads. Myself and Bobeshoz. I know of 3 builds in existence. #CheaterKwad on instagram is starting to grow.
oh hey. its you again. thanks for the help on how to get started and what gear matters/ more money should be spent on on the rotor riot fan club on fb. what a coincidence!
This will be the standard in 6 months. Tricks will harder to authenticate and respect. Thanks a lot Dividingbyzero FPV. Thanks Rotor Riot for shedding light on this. My technology budget unfortunately is still on 4S. Thanks! You guys are fun to watch.
Pulling this off around some very large tall buildings it would definitely show some of the effects of like backwards flying or doing some rotating around things in reverse would give you a fact that's different or when doing a dive on a building
my first quad i ever built was this, on a chameleon, with a simple av switchboard and the mixing compliments of either pain360 or blue falcon i believe. crazy thing is i have yet to fly it. my maiden was los on my front lawn, never set rates, went to check a flip and only 180d straight into concrete. next flight after thinking i fixed it 2 esc's fireballed on first takeoff. i have restricted my self to whoops or 3" since 2016 lol it still sits on my desk to hopefully inspire some other crazy ideas before you guys think of them
The knife edge tree gap at 9 minutes and 10 seconds when switching cams in the middle was great. Very hard to tell if it was a great save or a cheating cam switch, lol. Great job, low GoPro tilt made a world of difference
Something else you could do so you knew whether you are flying front camera or back camera instead of using the momentary switch is turn on the back camera's on screen display if it has one and do the name as back That way every time you switch to the back camera you will see it says back on your display
Ohhhh ohh oh. Fond memories of PlayUAV Osd -- that's an independent OSD from the time before OSDs were integrated into the FC and it had two camera inputs, so I'd use one for the fpv cam and the other for the Gopro-clone-on-a-gimbal tv output. It's still a badass OSD, really recommended, much better than all the minimosd derived current OSDs. It can draw graphics like maps, radar screen type of thing and what not, imagine running through a quad racing circuit and seeing where you are on the circuit like in the old car racing video games.
I'm loving all these comments about how its "cheating". The fact is flying one of these quads is WAY harder than you think if you wanna get usable footage. It takes a totally different mindset to know what the gopro is pointed at all the time. It is also very disorienting switching back and forth. It takes a whole different skillset to fly one of these smoothly.
Exactly. It is not a tool for trick replacement. It just isnt. And the video hints at that pretty good which is whybI think maybe Drew was underwhelmed by it. It makes flying backwards or upside down easy. But it puts a high load on you to practicr enough to know what kind of shot you will get when coming out of a transition. But the chase/follow footage has the potential to be really good if you communicate with another pilot or driver and it is the number one thing I want to work on going forward.
@@dividingbyzerofpv6748 Totally agree. It sounds easy to do and the public perception is that it is some magic unicorn quad that allows you to do all the hard stuff easily. This couldn't be further from the truth. It is a tool for the exploration of a completely different style of flight. You cannot be qualified to speak on the subject of what it is and isn't until you have flown one. Then you understand. You sir, understand. 😉
@@CitraFPV i am hoping Drew tries it more because I really appreciate what he does in terms of flying and artistic editing. I am wondering if he got his expectations set a bit too high and then maybe it was a bit of a let down. But as a tool, especially one to challenge himself, I think he needs to adopt one and push with it a bit. One of the best compliments I ever got was with one of my 3D edits where the person seeing it told me they were almost able to suspend disbelief. Then he said "oh yeah this is a cheaterkwad". To people who are not doing this and just viewing for the first time from outside the hobby, the ability to blow minds is definitely there. That was the kind of feeling I have been shooting for all this time and finding that balance of transitions to help ease the viewer's mind where I want it rather than having a chaotic roller coaster ride with no sense of purpose. And I am not even really that artistic of a person. Or maybe I am and I just have stupid fingers. Kinda like Fry and that deal with the Robot Devil. @@kduemose no need. Bicks Multiview Duo is a switch the size of your pinky fingernail. @@funKdatFPV there was a Reddit post for how to do betaflight setup for the I/O control of an available pin out. But if you are using a Crossfire Nano, you have those other outputs. So if you have Grd/Pwr/ch1/ch2 all lined up you set your Ch1 and Ch 2 to ouput CRSF TX/RX as normal. But you can run another wire to the CH3 pin of the Nano. That you can assign to put out on whatever channel you want, so my CH3 of my nano outputs like Ch6 that goes with my channel inverting on the radio. When I brought in a 2nd switch for my 3D builds(for up to 3 cams) I used CH4 of the nano and had it set to output CH7. So on my transmitter, CH 6 and CH7 are purely for inverting the required channels on the radio and they also trigger the Bicks Multiview Duo video switches. I can also tell you that Bicks has a Trio switch coming out which will likely work with a 3 channel switch. when you switch the camera does the FC also switch and your forward on your transmitter still the same or you have to fly it with reverse on transmitter in mind?
Always as if you are flying normal and forwards... hence cheating. When you switch from front to back it is also inverting your pitch and roll on your controller. So basically you are just remapping what is the new "front" for the drone. But the gopro perspective is now totally different. Works for 3D and using 3Cams as well which means switching to the inverted cam when in 3D mode redefines upright. Now you can shoot gaps upside down and backwards.

Forgive my ignorance, so this is illegal in racing FPV (assuming from the comment under the video)? Just got my first non-toy grade quad a few months ago, have only flown FPV (using the phone in a headgear mount) a hand full of times.
No. The cheat comes from the mixing done on the control side of things. Basically when younflip the switch going from front to back camera you are also activating a mix in the controller that inverts the channels that need inverting. Compared to somebody like Cricket which has a gift for flying backwards blindly, the 2nd camera is like cheating because while the gopro thinks youbare flying backwards everything else with the activated 2nd cam is just flying forwards. It also applies to 3D flying by having upside down cameras and flying upside down/backwards. The cheat is in the mix and making it so that you are always flying upright/forwards despite what the GoPro represents.
