I'm so happy you mentioned the D219 😊
*Solid reviews, we appreciate it!*
Thank you!
I had the Tecsun PL-880 and I couldn't get ONE SW station from my house, but with the XHDATA D109 I received a solid 30 station with just the standard antenna. So the $40 XHDATA D109 outperforms the $180 Tecsun PL-880. The XHDATA D109 also has equivalent sound quality. I returned the Tecsun PL-880 and kept the much superior XHDATA D109.
109 has the chuffing, soft muting?
Great info. Many thx!
The D.-219 is definitely an absolute nobrainer if you want the cheapes radio and not cutting too much corners. Built quality is really good and doesn't feel too weak or cheap. The antenna extends and retracts with not too much force needed and it runs on two easily available AA batteries. It doesn't come with a DC cable though but you can get a USB to DC (center negative) power cable for it to run it on Solar powerbanks if you want to. Keep in mind that radio is using a DSP (digital signal processor) so it doesn't have the analog radio typical smooth scanning but a rather choppy one. However for a DSP radio the short silent breaks when scanning are very short and it's one of the fastest DSP scanners in that price range. I have tested several other DSP based radios who cost way more and their choppy audio breaks when changing the radio frequency, were a lot longer and more annoying. So yeah this thing is definitely a recommendation if it has to be super simple and just radio only.
I've been considering this since it first came out but I have the D-328 which I liked so much I bought 2 more for my grandsons.
Great choice
Good video, cool radios. But was this voice over generated?
The Eton Satellit 750 is actually a rebadged Tecsun S-2000. For not much more money than the Retekess, the Tecsun PL-330 has better sensitivity, LW, and USB. And who wants to carry a radio with 3 D cells? Talk about ancient tech!
Bigger the better. Does a bigger battery last longer?
@@robertthomason8905 No, button batteries in my watch last much longer than the D batteries in a radio. So my scientific findings are that small batteries last longer
Now, here is a well-presented review. I appreciate your rating summary.
Great vid
Thank you!
I,ve had aTecsun 880 for years and own severalother radios (all analog) . There is no comparasion between analog and chip tuned radios as you will see on weak stations.I focus on tuning abilitywhen choosing a radioand thats where analog circuits shine, When your chip celects astronger signal over a weaker one you're trying to hear you'll see what i mean.

Hi, which brand and has best clear sound for FM radio? No need world band
Something to think about
I got both the PL880 and the Xhdata 808. I use the Xhdata most 😂
Thanks for sharing! What is your experience with them?
The communications receiver is the best shortwave receiver on earth. Try to get a used one.
D-219 IS A GREAT LITTLE RADIO
Tecsun 880 overloads near transmitter of just 5 watts.
👍
I have a Tecsun H501x and I'm thinking about connecting a multi-element Yagi antenna for the FM band to it. How will it work?
Why ask this clown? He's not a bloody clue about SW.
Xhdata d808 is great
This chart is a joke. 😂
What’s better ??
Do you actually know ANYTHING about shortwave?!?! With the exception of the AGING Tecsun pl-880 this just is a bloody joke. Freaking outrageous!!!! Who the hell is paying you to shill for them?
What is your shortwave receiver recommendation?
@@eugenecbellThe form factor naturally depends on the use case so for me, I like to keep things portable, the Tecsun pl-368 or the Eton Elite Executive are both solid SSB receivers along with the very expensive and aging Tecsun pl-880 although if I was spending that kind of money, I'd get the more refined Tecsun pl-990. The LC 90 is also an interesting receiver but suffers from mediocre SSB performance.
@@eugenecbell I tried to reply but this channel deleted my post. Nice.
@@STR82DVD thank you for trying.
@@eugenecbell For my money, pick up a Tecsun pl-368 or a Eton Elite Executive as both are phenomenal SSB performers at great price points.
I found Xhdata 808 great
