Travelling through Babata Passage, South New Georgia, Solomon Islands 🇸🇧

We went from Munda to Marovo lagoon in the Western Province of Solomon Islands through the Babata passage. We were told that some parts of the canal was bombed in the past to extend the length of it until it reaches Marovo lagoon. The passage becomes shallow during lowtide, often causing difficulty maneuvering through the narrow parts. During bad weather, it can be challenging at the entrance, since waves and currents can damage boats and even endanger lives.
