I remember when I was a little kid my brother loved Dick Tracy and we never could find The Blank. My mom took him everywhere trying to find it. I heard years later that it was only released in Canada or something like that. I also heard The Blank was Madonna’s character in a mask or something because they didn’t want to spoil that she was in the film. Don’t know if it’s true or not, but I once heard an action figure collecting podcast mention that before.
Love terminator...whatever is terminator past present or future will always love Arnie. I actually like those super7 terminator figures..always wanted that re generation terminator set...it was basically playdoe skin terminators.
Super cool not only seeing these for the memories but also I have nephews that love to play with toys and seeing and checking on some of these online gave me some great ideas for Bday and Christmas gifts for them. Now I won't always go for new in box but man super cool seeing these again.
I'm blessed to be in a city that has 4 different toy shows by collectors each year. Once in a blue moon the local comic book chain will have a 50% sale to make room for new merchandise.
Such a great video, thanks. One that I'm in the process of hunting is Bandai's The Tick. Series 2 is quite elusive but when I find them they are rarely over $30-40 on card
This video was pure nostalgia for me. Irwin Toys actually produced some Dragon Ball Z toys with decent articulation, many were in my collection when I was young. Gundam was also around in the late 90's but mostly the 2000's. Almost all those Spawn and Marvel figures you showed in this video I personally owned. McFarlane also produced anime figures from Akira and original Ghost in the Shell movie. There are toy lines in this video that I am not familiar with. Shocked to hear how cheap several of these figures are. If I ever see them at a show, they might have to come home with me. Really enjoyed this video. Great work and knowledgeable as always.
As a child of 1988, I am a product of the 90’s and early 00’s. Such a great starting point and reference for my collecting journey. Would love to see a 00’s version!
I have been scooping up xmen toybiz figures from the 90s lately on card. I have the entire wave 1 so far first release figures. I LOVED them as a kid in the early 90s.
So many great toy lines in your video. I either had some of them or remember seeing a lot of these in stores at the time. Great memories. Toys R Us was clearancing out 4" Robocop figures for the longest time, and I still kick myself for not picking a few up. I literally had years to grab at least one. I'm not sure what those go for now. I had no idea Irwin actually made a final form Frieza in the DBZ line. I've only ever seen the first and second form versions. I'll have to cruise eBay when I've got a little extra cash. I was born in 1982, so by the time I was old enough for Star Wars figures, they were long gone, so the POTF2 line holds a special place in my heart since it was the first time I had access to that line. Another great toy line from the 90's that's pretty cheap to collect are the Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad figures from Playmates. The 5" line in particular is pretty cheap. I don't really know how much the boxed 8" figures go for because I'm mainly a loose collector, but Zenon and Drago can be expensive unless you buy them in parts lots.
A lot of people don't realize that there are some inexpensive options for vintage out there. And all the while dropping a small fortune on modern figures!
@@OpenByChance Indeed. I don't even bother with modern stuff for the most part because of how expensive it is. If I see something I like at retail, I'll pick it up. If not, I'll do without.
@@OpenByChance I agree most of the figures in those batman lines are affordable I have some of those figures and I've gotten all the cheap ones and am now on to the more expensive ones now
This video was in my recommended, haven’t collected toys in a while but omg I'm about to get back into the game haha so many gems I wanted as a kid and seeing that its still affordable really makes me happy! Excellent vid!
Great video! A girl I dated in high school had a collection of those Sailor Moon figures. She was the first person I met that did action figure photography. She liked to write her own stories and would set up scenes she could photograph to use to illustrate the stories. I think I'm going to see about getting some. Pirates of Dark Water and Earthworm Jim are two I've wanted to start on for a while. I loved those shows. I'm going to have to get started on them. Reboot is the only line you showed that I have a complete on card collection of. The original Spawn line was what actually got me into seriously collecting. There were 34 waves in the line along with repaints and special figures and I have almost every one of them but only a dozen still on card. Most are cheap but there are a couple in the later waves that will cost you over $100 easy. The Tick is another good one you could add to the list.
I remember Bucky o'hare, never got into it though, great buy on the batman animated huge set- Mcfarlane just released a 4-pack at Walmart for $100.00! Hawkeye from the iron man set was the hardest to find back in the day.
Great video! Thank you for the trip down memory lane. I have/had most of these lines thanks to Kay Bee Toys. You couldn't beat those prices. I also had the complete Dragonheart line, the Phantom (movie) figure and the complete The Tick line - it was goofy but alot of fun, especially the Steel Box playset.
Excellent video! I have some of this stuff in my collection including Batman animated, Spawn, Toy Biz Marvel, and Star Wars POTF2. Nice to see these are still affordable!👍
I think I was the first person in the US to have the original Power Rangers figures. I worked at TRU at the time and we got our cases MONTHS early with a STRICT RELEASE DATE!!! the boss let me buy the entire set if I promise not to show them anywhere. Walked out well after closing hours..
Now that you mentioned it...I be interested in knowing what toys came out in 1900,1910,1920,30,40,50,60s and 70s....it be a fascinating subject knowing what was the hot toys back in the day....marx toys and Gabriel had 50 60s toylines I believe.
Thing i noticed about retro figures are they look more bulky, more or less. 90's have better body shape but figures do not stand well or not at all. Retro figures i like about is they're more show accurate. Im tempted to start collecting Neca 80's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles wave lines. Thing making more upset about Power Rangers lighting Collection line is, same old improved bad guys from 90's. Ive said no point of having a large hero toyline if it does not have a equal bad guy line to match. Examples would be the Machine Empire family, Divatox, Scorpious, Trekeena, etc. Aswell as Goldar's battle zord Cyclopsus with Lokar included.
I have a large collection of Playmate's Star Trek action figures and 90's Hasbro Star Wars Power of the Force 2 figures. I haven't paid more than 20 dollars apiece for those two action figure lines. P.S. I also paid only 7 dollars for my semi-mint New Kids on the Block doll.
You mentioned just about every 90s toy line I can remember. There was a LOT of crap back then, wasn’t there? Dick Tracy is interesting because The Blank was meant to be a main release but held back because the figure’s feature revealed their identity spoiling the movie but when it was time to release, the rest of the line wasn’t doing well so they fucked the 10,000 (I think) they made got chucked at a Sears in Canada. Ronin Warriors is also interesting because half of those were re-released in ‘99 but the other half wasn’t so the half that was is really cheap but the half that wasn’t isn’t
I love flash gordon but like superman some figures just suck and don't capture the spirit of the characters just because there's a figure doesn't mean it's worth getting...how many Vader figures are there? Only a few capture the spirit of the character.
...I just wish someone would tell me why Street Sharks have gone up in price 2-3x in just the past 6 months. I heard Super7 might do a line and also heard something about a new show. That could be it...

Yes, in the movie the Blank turned out to be Madonna.
I remember the Nightmare Before Christmas line of toys at the Sam Goody's at the Willowbrook Mall
It's a line I'm considering tracking down again.
The Batmans, The Shadow, The Mask, Robocop & Terminator 2 1s
Skeleton Warriors Playmates were my favorite from 1994 .!
It's a great toy series!

Nice!
I remember owning a Chuck Norris figure from earliest years. Its from a cartoon off Chuck Norris and i think the show is now on Tubi.
"Karate Kommandoes"
Not only was the Robin Hood vehicles retooled ROTJ, Friar Tuck is a Gamorean Guard figure with a human head.
That's correct!
Shadow and predator were fun lines...Shadow I love basically before batman...

Definitely suggest doing this for the 80's toys if you know of lower priced toy lines back then.

It likely won't. There are too many options and the line has been redone too many times.
