- If watches are anything, they’re subjective. Without a doubt. One man’s meat is another man’s hideous, oversized, jewel-encrusted poison-and vice versa. If you like one or the other, that’s your deal, and it’s certainly not for anyone else-least of all, me-to tell you otherwise. There are some brands and models I like, for example, and some I don’t-and for Breitling, I think I’ve just found my favourite. Meet AVI.

Gorgeous watch made all the more sophisticated by the usual Watchfinder brilliance. Amazing close-up work, particularly showing the lume inconsistencies. It is these hand applied touches that give additional warmth and character to a watch.

Yet another awesome video which just reinforces why yours in the best watch TH-cam channel bar none. Once again your humor, wordplay, personal anecdotes and incredible taste in watches makes your channel my favorite. Just like I loved your review of the Zenith Elite Chrono Classic, this watch also speaks to me just as does the Breguet Type XX. BTW, I'd love to see a review of the Type XX Aeronavale 3800, maybe the 200M water resistant version with the gold crown. Also a review of the JLC Reverso, my suggestion is my watch, the Reverso Grand 976 in steel or Gold.
This is a new favourite for me. Thanks for introducing me to all these watches and always giving me a laugh with your colorful way of speaking.

Wow, me and my friends were just talking extensively about this watch. Probably one of the best modern recreation of a legendary watch, if only it was a little cheaper. Still great watch.
Give it a little time, I’m sure you could negotiate a nice discount at an AD.
@Tim Write I love mine, I think its absolutely stunning.
But you wouldn’t say if Rolex was only cheaper. In contrast to Rolex this is a limited piece, has history behind it and probably a nicer movement. Breitling is in the right track.

@@TimWrite Personally I wouldn’t have made it limited but I think George Kern might have another perspective he has been slowly but surely transforming the brand and in the next 5 years they are expected to be in the top 5 best swiss selling brands

My favorite breitling is the one I am currently wearing for the past 11 years: Galactic 41 in black dial and big date complication, rotating bezel, domed sapphire with dual AR coating and 200M water resistance. I’ve taken it all around the world with me and have gotten many compliments. My piece does hold a lot of sentimental value so I will probably never sell it.
Having in mind the prices of vintage "grand dads" circulate above 20 grand US dollars even RRPs for steel execution of re-edition unit - 7,900 CHF and 21,000 CHF for the golden one seem to be very merciful for Breitling afficionados.
A very small correction - AVI 765 1953 re-edition is covered by a Hesalite crystal, as per Breitling’s own website. Great video nonetheless and the watch is superb.
Wrong tho aswell as it is not hesalite but plexi, just like on the original Ref. 765
@@covcorp maybe someone should tell Breitling, as the model description on their website specifically states “highly-domed Hesalite crystal”.

Bought the 46 P-51 with strap and bracelet. Absolutely love it. Date, GMT, Chronograph, and able to see it working through the back. Love the tribute to WWII planes.
Such beautiful watch. Just bought the the Superocean Heritage in 42 mm and i really like the 50’s style. Wondering if there is an affordable alternative with the same looks for this Aviator 8 with a respectable brand

Great review, thanks Watchfinder. Good looking watch, but not crazy about the aged patina and low water resistance.
It's not patina, the Tritium used on the 50's was brownish and the new AVI and the Navi lume had it hand applied with this aspect and color.
It's a Luminova re-creation of the Tritium used by Bretling.

This timepiece houses one of the best looking and best fitting domed sapphire crystals I have ever seen.
Alas, it’s Hesalite. Some will love it, I prefer sapphire.
@@fifthpint4571 After a quick google search, I found that they really used a Hesalite crystal. First time I've seen Watchfinder do a factual mistake in their video. In 4:53 he said sapphire, so I simply believed that was the case.
Hesalite is still good here as domed sapphire would possibly give you a ‘milky ring’ on the outer edge. I’m also used to it from my Speedmaster and no longer get upset at the occasional scratch - they seem to ‘disappear’ over time, too.
Except it's plexiglas.

This is the most attractive Breitling to me because of the proportion and the lack of unnecessary detail on the dial.
I have always wished that the watch companies would have nothing but the name of the company or the model on the dial, attractively and appropriately designed and located.
The technical descriptions can go on the back, if needed.
Same with cars.
That’s why I had the “Toyota” and the “Camry” removed from mine.
Please do a video on the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms bathyscaphe in 38mm with the grey dial!!!

This is a beautiful watch. Balance i s a good word to describe it, and not a word that everyone would necessarily associate with Breitling. It seems to share a lot of design elements with the Transocean, but with a more vintage and cleaner look. Wish it was an auto, though.
Auto??? NO!!!!!! BOOOO!!!!!!! lol. Seriously though, manual was the absolutely correct move. Just like the original model.

The video quality makes the color of the watch look a lot better than it actually does. That’s my one issue with watch videos, I would like to see more natural light.

If I may, the glass is Plexiglas not Sapphire and the pushers are not at the same position and protrude a lot more than the original and it's 14 something milliliters like the original not 11 millimeters.
It's a real beauty, like dreaming of having a New Old Stock AVI at a "decent" price (considering the price of the original).

Blemish on the dial next to the 7 marker would do my nut in as well as the printed lume being so shoddy. Looks great from afar but far from nice.

I have been collecting luxury watches for years and years. Never looked at breitling because in my earlier years in colledting they looked awful in my opinion. I dont even know the models but after watching this video I do like this. Probably because it looks like a breguet transatlantique.
Well it's the other way, the Breguet, even the beefed up Transatlantique, are inspired by the AVI.
It's been a long, long time since I have seen a watch that this thoroughly makes lacking wealth feel this BAD. I don't think I'll ever have this sort of disposable income, but this reference made me check the listings anyway.
