I live in Maryland and have been to Harpers Ferry many times, I've stood on top of those rocky cliffs on the other side of the river. It's so cool to see it in game like this.
Ahaha I live in harpers ferry! It is such a beautiful and historical place, I just don’t like it when some people make a joke of the place, it is a very historical and important place.
Stonewall Jackson’s temporary headquarters in Harpers Ferry was in a house that is now a B&B. You can sleep in the same room he did, it’s pretty cool if you’re a civil war buff.
When people complain about historical games maps 'not being fair'... heres a heads up for you. War isn't fair. in general there wasn't a battle unless one side held an advantage, or at the very least perceived they did
I'm from DE i vacationed there, it looks very realistic. On my time there they showed us the hill across the bridge that the Confederates and Union would swap ownership. They still have the gun emplacements there. It is very steep and you can imagine troops charging up the hill and how challenging the terrain was.
@@NightShadow_digitalphotography it’s more exciting then for example the rebs break through the union front after a melee and the union counter attacks and retakes it then the rebs push them back even more and so forth
There attention to detail is amazing. Its incredible seeing this. The old stone rail road bridge is gone but stone pillars are still there and they look exactly the same.
im suprised that for a game that requires so much cooporation and were everyone can talk that there isnt more toxic players, just shows what a good community is behind this game
I'm sure that if the Confederates get artillery for this map it will lose it's current status as a UNION BIAS map. That said it isn't that difficult to defend the railroad or the pontoon bridge with organized Union players.
Dude you and these vids you killing me fam i wish i could get this game! This shit is absolutely beautifully detailed and from what it looks like the mechanics are simple.
So got to say, every one on this game wants to be accurate, which I appreciate. However what kills me is the officers giving commands that are not a thing. For instance "fire at will" was not a period command it was "independent fire". That command was never usually given for the simple reason, after the first group volley it was an automatic independent fire situation. Second the command load should not be said. your men should already know to get loaded after they shoot. If yall want to know what was what i have a copy of Hardee's rifle and light infantry tactics with me.
And if you're in Virginia Infantry or Infantry trained by VMI Cadets than they use a manual written by Gilham. The manual of arms is similar to Hardee's, but it has more of a 18th century flavor (1700s) to it. I like the 1st volley drill with the muskets raised up real high in the air before being lowered. Kind of intimidating. th-cam.com/video/L9mADbpSWJs/w-d-xo.html
Great looking game, hopefully soon they add more maps, would love to see some of the lesser known battles of the civil war, i live in southern WV and i know of a battle that happened here that was pretty crazy, princeton wv the north and south met and battled over the railroad, actually the majority of the city of princeton was burned, theres still one house standing today that survived, i think the south won the first couple of battles but eventually the northern mountain brigade came and won it
Interesting, I’ve been interested in the Civil War all my life. My Great Great Uncle received the MOH for his part in Andrews Raid or The Great Locomotive Chase in 1862. I’ve been a Civil War reenactor ( 16 Ohio Volunteer Light Artillery ) and have played Civil War miniature tabletop games for forty years. How do they determines who are the officers?
I was actually in that game, nice video where we were defending as the Union against the Confederate onslaught. By the way, I’m Pvt. robert9670 of the 5th NY Company A, you can see me talking in the chat in this video.
Reading the chat is funny in this, sometimes. One thing I noticed is I saw one guy say: "The only way the rebs can win is if they fix bayonets and charge right at the beginning" which is in fact what some of them did. Is there any truth to this? If there's balancing issues I would hope they actively work towards fixing that. Also it's staggering how many times people are team killed in this game but I guess it happened a lot IRL too, there's something problematic I guess about having uniforms that are like one hex code color away from each other. Grey and Blue. I mean for God's sake, one of the greatest confederate generals of all time Stonewall Jackson was team killed IRL, it was at night and he basically accidentally walked into an accidental ambush, killed by his own men.
Jeeze you guys had more casualties in 20 min then they did in reality through the entire battle. Then again we lost 44 men during Harpers Ferry before the general surrendered the army of 12,000 men
Everyone is scared to death of this map now, after that 1st day, lol. Now, Whenever I'm on server browser there's only people back in Antietam. I know the devs say they made some changes like increasing the morale of the confederates and making artillery more intense, but I think if they want to keep testing the map they're gonna have to include it in the map rotation for the Antietam server. Too much PTSD. We'll see if anyone is brave enough to go for round 2 this weekend. The only time I made it across last weekend was while firing and moving. The rebs didn't put any pressure on the union, and you have to do that when the bridges are long enough for the yanks to reload twice and fire. If you aren't firing back, you're giving them free shots.
The thing that the Confederate Officers did wrong on the other side was sending them in small clusters, and they just got mowed down one at a time. Should've formed up and gone right in.
I live about 2 hours from Harper's Ferry, WV and have been there a couple times, and I actually recognize some of the buildings from the actual town as well as the terrain in this map, so GJ to whoever made it. :)
Hey General Cody, I got a question about War of rights; If I buy the Captain rank, will I be able to play now? Or will I have to wait for a closed beta or something?
Make sure you are only exposed to the direction you at looking by looking at what you can see. If you can see it you can get show from there. For that entrance under the bridge instead of making a single line in the door way they can set up back from it with rifles aimed at choke point like this \\\/// instead of |||||| in case confederate line volleys the large doorway entrance from far while confederates push close. Could also do it like this \\\| |/// to divide the fire with the 2 straight line guys crouched on corner. The confederates will at some point try to use the range and small concentrated fire of the door way to kill lower ground defenders. Same concept for on top of the bridge supporting lower entrance defenders, make sure you are the least exposed to far angles incase of volley.
"If I miss this shot" lol looked like you either sneezed or using a wii remote but gg always
Christopher Goodwyn wii remote LOL
Christopher Goodwyn ca
yea once our side lostt in hell let loose coz the commander had to take a dump
I live in Maryland and have been to Harpers Ferry many times, I've stood on top of those rocky cliffs on the other side of the river. It's so cool to see it in game like this.
That is awesome man!
History man.
I’ve also been on the cliffs. You can see all three states
Ahaha I live in harpers ferry! It is such a beautiful and historical place, I just don’t like it when some people make a joke of the place, it is a very historical and important place.
Same here! Im right outside boonsboro. The detail is amazing!
Stonewall Jackson’s temporary headquarters in Harpers Ferry was in a house that is now a B&B. You can sleep in the same room he did, it’s pretty cool if you’re a civil war buff.

every map can't be totally even :P
If war was fair we would of lost already, you have to sacrifice men to win.
Also this is a siege battle, ofc it aint gonna be fair for the attackers
The reason they complain is in the real battle, the confederacy had artillery to support their attack
WoR needs Union drummers
Oli M hopefully soon
3:40 I feel abd that was me :(
G_mill99 haha, I’m sorry!
Officer DOWN!!!
How did the Confederates take Harpers Ferry?!
Edit: oh I just read online. Lots of artillery.
Sean Taylor yep haha
Lmao.. boliver, loudon, Maryland heights... arty!!
So the CSA won’t take it till next patch 😂

It's crazy how detailed and exact the mountain is and the bridge itself
this game looks so fun. I may have to join the PC master race just to play
Right on man!
Get yourself a high refresh monitor and come to the dark side
@@matthewtaylor3301 now you’re just saying big words
The only way to balance the map out is get twice as many confederates than the Union...
Soviet Union or more artillery
Who cares about balancing the battle?
@@NightShadow_digitalphotography it’s more exciting then for example the rebs break through the union front after a melee and the union counter attacks and retakes it then the rebs push them back even more and so forth
This game is such a hidden gem
Sure is man!

Did you hear about the train that derailed the weekend of dec 20th in harpers ferry? Right into the potomac. Lol.. no injuries, but weird.
I live near Harpers ferry and I’m amazed at how historically accurate this game is.
That’s awesome dude! Thanks for watching!
Hey that’s me who got stuck in the little shack as the flag bearer
I bet this game is fun, especially with general Cody himself on your side of the battle.
im suprised that for a game that requires so much cooporation and were everyone can talk that there isnt more toxic players, just shows what a good community is behind this game
I know I’m late but just found these videos great job man had fun watching
Thanks, PNW! Appreciate the support :)
I'm sure that if the Confederates get artillery for this map it will lose it's current status as a UNION BIAS map. That said it isn't that difficult to defend the railroad or the pontoon bridge with organized Union players.
Jeremy Bain with all regards to historical accuracy, it should sort of be a confederate bias map, considering the outcome of the battle
Pistol Pete agree------>big time!!
Its so cool seeing this i used to got to Harpers Ferry every year and walk across that bridge.
That’s awesome man!
I've been to harpers ferry and the game really nailed it, it looks exactly like the real thing.
That is awesome!
Dude you and these vids you killing me fam i wish i could get this game! This shit is absolutely beautifully detailed and from what it looks like the mechanics are simple.
John Brown would be proud
:)
I'm a huge Civil War buff, I gotta get this. The graphics are so life like
This game.... few match it. If any. This channel is brilliant.
I live in West Virginia and in 4 grade we took a trip to harpers ferry and this is so cool to see
right on man!
was really fun to watch thx for showing that ;-)
Thanks for watching, Daniel!
I live in Maryland and its so weird cause i have walked around the same area they were fighting
pollux that is badass man!!
We live in Missouri
Been to HF 2 different times. Stayed aa week. Beautiful scenes.
I con sider this the boiling point of the CW due to John Brown.
Leon Bradley it is an awesome area I must agree
Some people need to look before they shoot.
hey remember me i cant stop playing this game

Jesse Staszewski thank you for the valuable information!! In terms of playing the game, we try to creat our own ways to win over our competitors.

Joshua Gouge thanks man! I really appreciate it. This game will only be based on the Maryland campaign.
HUzzah!! HUrrah for The Union!! :D Merci, Mon General!
Great video! Very cool game.
Thanks, Andrew.
I've seen this video from the other side's perspective aswell...both sides did a damned good job
They sure did!

A.P Hill Don't look me like that, as a French, I must break this panel which says whites are strong. X)

Those southern boys were real smart. 😜

Jeeze you guys had more casualties in 20 min then they did in reality through the entire battle. Then again we lost 44 men during Harpers Ferry before the general surrendered the army of 12,000 men
Question: If shooting long distances does a person need to aim higher and add some "Kentucky windage" if the target is moving?
Correct! You can even adjust your sights to account for added range.
5:13 what is with that shifting texture on the wall to his left?!?!
GunmetalGaming they fixed that now :)
Wow this reminds me of empire total war
Geeze how many deaths can the South take :D Can't they take a hint, General Cody doesn't want you in Town :D XD
haha, a lot of loses, river!
So many ppl in this game are shooting with the barrel next to a friendly head and doing muzzle flash damage to team mates
how do you zoom in on your sights like that/
I live right by harpers ferry cool town!
Yeet Yeet Yeet another point of view!
F#ck yeah

WWWWWWHHHHHHHYYYYY WHYYYYYY ARE U UNION (good vid lol)
lol. Change it up a little.
Is there no hit indicator or kill indicator?
I live in Harpers Ferry and it looks pretty much the same not really some point I wish I could play this game
Is it possible to be an artilleryman or will that be handled by the AI? ( I used to be one in a re-enactment group)
Cool man! So far it is controlled by AI, but will be later controlled by real players.
when is this available to steam
Beautifull map, though it seems a bit impossible to win as a confederacy, without artilery
Looks great. The confederates are getting better at it.
Hey General Cody, I got a question about War of rights; If I buy the Captain rank, will I be able to play now? Or will I have to wait for a closed beta or something?
you can play it right away if you get captains.
oh, thank you! I was just really curious because this game looks like loads of fun
Very interesting game, wish I had a PC
Prince Of The North it is
You could build a cheap one.
I’ve been to harpers ferry twice
Silly question but is Harper's ferry the place where a dam flooded the place? And is it the place where a man led a small group to steal weapons?
I'm not sure, sorry!
Harper's Ferry is the location of John Brown's raid, but idk about the flood
There are historic markers regarding a flood. Cant remember details.
The flag catrier lasted 0:00 second lmfao
Cody do you like Harper's ferry? And should I get war of rights
Yes, and yes. lol
Also I see you mostly play as Confederate but can you also play as Union?
Harpers ferry is bad ass!! Visit with your girl!! Trust me!! The chicks love the Ferry @night
12:36 he survived cause he listened😂
Edited: I think that was him that fell off.???? It looked like it.
I love this video and is this a new map
thanks! Yes it is.
It should be called, "The War of traitors."
That’s what the Union was
Yes
cant wait to play that map
I hope soon I can get this
hope you do!
How do the battles work? Is the game constantly running, or is it like countdown to each battle?
The attackers have 45 min to take the objective or kill all the enemy tickets. Defenders must hold the objective or kill all the enemy tickets.
Weren’t there like only 22 union that raided harpers ferry?
A lot more.
about 18k defended Harpers Ferry
Who made your intro i want one like it?
I actually met you on this map Cody
Cool!
Dope ass channel name 💯🔥🔥✌👆
Love ur vids
The resemblance to the actual location is uncanny
That is awesome to hear!
This game is amazing xD
It is.
A little bit strange that there is a pontoon bridge.. Couldn’t they just destroy that bridge with artillery.
I have the game plz somebody tell me how to get into a battle
How do you know you killed someone its sooo freaking hard
I know it goes against the spirit of the game but I really hope they have a kill feed or at least some sort of hit markers as an option in the HUD.
Jeremy Bain I’m not sure if they will
They should do what Squad does - have no kill feed in game but show how many kills you got at the end of the round.
the building's interiors could use a little more love
Nice vid again(Let me win the next giveaway)
Oooh i like urban battles
