He somehow blundered his b5 pawn, I have to think that’s time pressure because he strikes me as at least a 1600 elo player, though putting his Knight on h5 for the entire game didn’t do himself any favours. Instead of taking the pawn on e5, I thought he had a try with Ng7 and reroute to an outpost on f5. But once the central pawns started rolling it was hard to even have drawing chances. Board 3 just got crushed. Didn’t develop the light squared bishop for so long and allowed the position to open up. Board 1 didn’t play too bad but was just so conservative. H6 was a bad move early after the fianchetto of his bishop and didn’t allow him to castle kingside. But when you create an imbalance with opposite side castles, he has to storm the kingside. That is incredible. In my prime I could play ONE game blind, against another player also without a board. It actually isn't too bad when you are 20 and have been playing all your life. But three boards? And he made a different opening on each one (I assume to challenge himself.) At the speed they were playing, I barely could keep track of the games when they were showing them on the screen. Magnus truly is a wonder.
I also struggled keeping up in the beginning because it was messy. Plays on Board 1&2 then board 1 replies without doing board 3 as I had expected. Mid and end game was easier than the beginning because they started doing rotational which they should have done in the beginning.
Honestly, the dude in the middle played VERY well. Obviously lost on time, but otherwise is dead even with Magnus when the clock ran out. That's pretty amazing.
Man, what a huge compliment he gave board 2 at the end while shaking their hands. If he just had more time he probably could have held on a bit longer.
Yeah his position was hopeless. The only real move he had Kc8, because if he try and block with the rook, Magnus will take with the bishop and blacks rook is pinned from retaking, while magnus bishop is defended so he cannot retake with the king. But even after Kc8 Magnus will trade Queens and then win the Knight with Rxd6

That is incredible. In my prime I could play ONE game blind, against another player also without a board. It actually isn't too bad when you are 20 and have been playing all your life. But three boards? And he made a different opening on each one (I assume to challenge himself.)

haha they lost by different methods. Checkmate, no time and resigning.
board 1 was gonna get checkmated pretty soon if he didn't resign anyway
Yeah his position was hopeless. The only real move he had Kc8, because if he try and block with the rook, Magnus will take with the bishop and blacks rook is pinned from retaking, while magnus bishop is defended so he cannot retake with the king. But even after Kc8 Magnus will trade Queens and then win the Knight with Rxd6

My favourite part was when said “Its Magnusing time” and Magnused all over the place, Truly one of the moments.
6:56 This still blows my mind. Magnus didn't tell him to play c4 on board 2, "board 3 c4." And yet he somehow either figured out where his pawn was and played with no problem, or in his head he had already played the move and just got lucky. It's just a pawn, but it did allow the recapture with the pawn.
I figure he must have thought that is what was played as his opponent moved (so he must have moved/missed a turn) and from his move he must have figured out it was a queen's gambit?
Makes you wonder if all of this was scripted.
@@emilsadykhov123 nah it makes zero sense for it to be scripted as obviously Magnus is incredibly skilled either way and if it were to potentially leak that he cheated in a mere exhibition match or staged in any way that would look awful for him.
