I think Hikaru’s strength is playing high accuracy quickly and getting into complicated positions where he can out calculate his opponents. Flagging is just a result of his opponents getting outplayed and them needing to think.

i believe Hickaru's potential.. he is one of the few to possibly defeat carlsen in any time control. Only he shifted to shorter time control in the past few years. Now he is back at longer time control..lets see if he will pursue again the world championship

New player here. I'm at 13:04 and I'm wondering what the advantage is of not moving Pawn to G3 to force the Knight to move and then capture the central pawn with the rook? It's what I would have done by now, and I'm often wrong. But can someone tell me why I'm wrong?
then d2 - then you cant take knight because black would come and check on e1 and then thats checkmate after rook takes rook and black promotes to queen if you move kf1 then nd5 Rxd2 Ne3 and this is alosing position for white - let me know if you want more analysis

People say there's no luck in chess. This is a perfect example of Magnus getting lucky through a Hikaru blunder and then Hikaru getting lucky through Magnus moving too slow
both aren't down to luck. that's like saying a tennis player got lucky that his opponent played the ball into the net. apart from getting white or black, there is no luck involved.
It's both down to both players' skills. Luck is random, Hikaru's blunder isn't random but a result of failing to see the accurate move. Magnus moving too slow is a result of Hikaru's brilliant chess play up to that point where he blundered one single move in the end game.
What a game! Very entertaining Armageddon game by the top players in the world. So many twists and turns… First Magnus fell for the poisoned central pawn trap leading to a losing position. Then Hikaru being distracted by the black knight and central passed pawn failed to find the winning continuation, and shockingly returned the queen plus material advantage leading to a possible drawn endgame (win for Magnus). During the complicated fracas, Magnus failed to watch the clock ending up losing on time. 😂

Traps to spot and hard moves to find everywhere. But Hikaru did an insane job solving every riddle while also advancing forwards, move by move. Just a few accurate moves more and hikaru would have done it. but then he blunders and magnus got in an endgame, wich looks like its a draw but you also know, if black isnt carefull and atleast some precise, he could easly lose. And the only one who can win there is white. But a few moves later, Magnus ran out of time. Just insane.
