PLs don’t compare SPB and Yesudas. Oru Penn Pura is a beautiful song and yesudas is best suited for that song..
True both can not be compared with each other. But in my view though KJY is a singer with divine and melodious voice, still can not emote enough for a given situation as SPB does. I still hold KJY as one of the greatest legends of Indian film music.

@@manjuvn1757 sorry I disagree. spb has more limitations. he is loud but lacks layam. For music the most basic quality is 'laya'. Listen to spb closely, you will see the weight and agression in his voice, but it will lack layam totally.
Not just layam, he lacks in may areas that are core vocal , but dont bother to analyze at that level. Cant help, people are mostly ignorant about the core areas. They just want hummable popular numbers for which spb will definitely fit well.

Spb is a very good singer, gifted with a solid voice. Spb is also a very very lucky person. Didnt go through any difficulties in coming to limelight unlike many others who were stalwarts as musicians.
One thing I observed is, layman people in general think music means film music. That is pathetic. Music is much much more than just film music and just emoting for situations.
Spb was naturally gifted to suit film songs, but that is his limit also. Please dont say he can sing anything. He definitely doesnt compare not even close to some of the legends with much more vocal talent. We should not compare the wholistic musician with just film songs playback singer.
Even in film songs, we know that spb over does and overkills emotions. He always tries to give too much spoiling the class of the song. Most people just look at the overall sound, the scene, the actor and just gives all credit to spb.
People, music is a lot more than just film music and spb is just one of the top persons in film music which is a very small part if the world of music.
He has not proven anything outside of filmy music. All his devotional songs will sound like some pathos songs from movies only. He cannot show the difference between movie songs and non-movie songs where much more talent is needed. He has also shown weaknesses in trying to sing bass and more complex compositions.
So lets give spb the due credit but not make the god of music and all.....please...be realistic.

U may be a good musician. But there is a time for saying words. It’s not a good time . Pls use words at a correct time
Stupid in one word....which singer lasted or sang for more than 50 years..SPB is a legend accept it than finding faults..SPB himself admitted that he is not a trained singer..but knows the knack of Singing...he is a genius and will always be...
