It wasn't mentioned in the video, but when I was a kid, late 50's or early 60's, when mom and I went to grandmas on 7th and Sealy, the bay was frozen by tiki island. They had ropes marking where the edge of the ice was, and people ice skating, and kids running about. That was a sight to behold.

Christmas Eve 2004 I was in Webster TX and got 6 inches of snow, I heard Galveston received a foot of snow on the beach…probably the only time I will wake up to a white Christmas in Southeast Texas!

Thank you for the information. I remember when I moved in to Texas City, and my neighbor commenting that he had seen Galveston Bay frozen. And I also remember the white Christmas we had also. And the when it snowed 6 weeks after Hurricane Ike. It happens. Not often, but it does happen.

In the early 1970s as a kid growing up in Galveston, there was a rare snowstorm and we kids built a small snowman in our front yard. Good Times.

Whenever I experience the freeze in 2021 my house did not lose power. My city was actually mostly still powered.

This is so interesting. Great photos and information 😊 I am planning a trip there soon, mostly interested in historical stuff so I am enjoying your videos with so much info to give me a better perspective of the history there, so thank you 😊
