I think this would be a great and logical acquisition for Sony. Not a diehard FromSoftware fan, but the Souls genre kinda started on Sony with FromSoftware making Demon Souls for them, and then there's Bloodborne, so they had a pretty strong relationship with them, and I think with development time taking longer for studios getting some extra studios could help, and that would really further help drive PS console sales if their games went exclusive.
The concern here isn't FromSoftware as others have stated. Kadokawa is a major publisher of anime/manga and as you said, acquiring a publisher is very different from a single developer.

The difference is that Crunchyroll and Funimation were anime distribution platforms, they didn't actually own any IP. Kadokawa actually produces anime. Sony might be banking on regulators seeing this more as a horizontal acquisition provided they continue to license Kadokawa IP to other platforms like Netflix, Hulu and HiDive. Similar to how MS got the ABK deal done.
Generally I'm just not a fan of big mergers honestly. However if this does go through, I'd be VERY curious to see what happens from a gaming standpoint.

Tbh Microsoft didn't buy Bethesda, they bought Zenimax which includes Bethesda. This deal with From Software is not Sony buying From Software. This won't benefit us much. If fromsoft and sony were interested in partnering up for bloodborne they would have done it already. I don't think fromsoft is interested in bloodborne which is why nothing happened with it and if that's the case then forcing them to work on bloodborne won't be good for us. Fromsoftware have a good thing going, it's best to let them keep doing what they're doing instead of risking the influence of sony or whichever other corp breathing down their necks.
East vs. west. When MS bought up large companies like Bethesda and Activision, Sony wasn't going to idly sit back and just let them absorb the industry freely. This might not be best way, but MS left them with this being the only way if their buyouts continued. All of MS acquisitions were cash. The problem with borrowing money is you add more liability and risk to your books. Just look at Bungie. They borrowed to get Bungie and that has been an absolutely disaster for Sony. It might seem uncanny, but I'm excited that Switch (or any lower spec hardware) won't be considered as a lead platform in future development (strip it down and port it if necessary). Knowing great studios like Monolith were purchased by Nintendo and forced to work on their under powered hardware never sat right with me. Anywhere (outside of MS' mismanaged operations) the creatives can create freely with the fewest hardware restrictions possible, is always a win in my book.

If this happens I hope to see PC releases of the Games. If not I'm still never buying a Console again. I haven't owned a Console since the Xbox 360. I'm not buying a Console for 2 Good Games a year when I can play the best versions of everything else on PC. Consoles are not a good value for those of us that do actual Highend Gaming on PC. To date only Demon Souls(original version) is the only game I wished I had played that's exclusive to consoles(TLOU and Uncharted didn't move the needle for me. I have not bought the PC releases). So in15 years I only have 1 Gaming Regret vs MAXING EVERYTHING!! I am happy with my choice:) I hope Sony keeps PC in mind if they purchase From but I'm not going to lose sleep over it. This won't benefit us much. If fromsoft and sony were interested in partnering up for bloodborne they would have done it already. I don't think fromsoft is interested in bloodborne which is why nothing happened with it and if that's the case then forcing them to work on bloodborne won't be good for us. Fromsoftware have a good thing going, it's best to let them keep doing what they're doing instead of risking the influence of sony or whichever other corp breathing down their necks.

It might seem uncanny, but I'm excited that Switch (or any lower spec hardware) won't be considered as a lead platform in future development (strip it down and port it if necessary). Knowing great studios like Monolith were purchased by Nintendo and forced to work on their under powered hardware never sat right with me. Anywhere (outside of MS' mismanaged operations) the creatives can create freely with the fewest hardware restrictions possible, is always a win in my book.

If this happens I hope to see PC releases of the Games. If not I'm still never buying a Console again. I haven't owned a Console since the Xbox 360. I'm not buying a Console for 2 Good Games a year when I can play the best versions of everything else on PC. Consoles are not a good value for those of us that do actual Highend Gaming on PC. To date only Demon Souls(original version) is the only game I wished I had played that's exclusive to consoles(TLOU and Uncharted didn't move the needle for me. I have not bought the PC releases). So in15 years I only have 1 Gaming Regret vs MAXING EVERYTHING!! I am happy with my choice:) I hope Sony keeps PC in mind if they purchase From but I'm not going to lose sleep over it. Too many other games to play.

Black Myth Wukong is made by Game Science which so far only had one game in their portfolio. Not only that a majority of the dev team working for Game Science are temp workers, that means that once they finish making the game and got paid then they left the company since a majority of them were from overseas.

Yeah, we should see the FTC get involved with this; because this would be bad not just for the game industry but also for Manga and Anime. It wasn't bad enough that Sony bought Funimation, Crunchyroll AND RightStufAnime, cannibalizing them into each other which we're still feeling the aftermath of.
Personally; I hate acquisitions. It's basically ensuring a company stays with the publisher under threat of completely absorbing them. You remember what happened to Psygnosis? It's basically like that. We saw Japan Studio go under right after they made a few great video games, almost punishing them for daring to do what they were paid to. The ABK deal? It couldn't have happened to a worse company. The only way Activizion Blizzard was going to change was if somebody bought them and kicked Bobby Kotick out, the single man who was ruining the company and the shareholders protected like a fat kid protected a Snickers bar.
What Microsoft and Xbox have been doing is honestly despicable and I don't want Sony to make the same mistake again and do what they did: keep acquiring studios until the entire game industry collapses.
