What a treat this is to watch! Thank you both for sharing your story and your wisdom. It’s a God sent in a world where so many of us don’t have married couples to look up to and learn from. God bless you and your family! 💗

Having an understanding that the person you married isn't the same person you'll be married to in 20 years is important. People change, it's just key to grow together instead of using it as an excuse to divorce!

Isn't that the truth!! We had to learn a LOT along the way! Seems we had to grow up together. Young people need to be taught this.

Thanks for sharing! This was so good! I loved the part filling their toolboxes or tool bag. I have heard it before, but it never gets old. You both touched on a lot of insightful points and things I know but not always easy to accomplish. My husband & I are believers and run a Christian home and we have had our challenges and overcome and in a very great spot but there is always something to work on or to revisit for sure. We are not perfect parents and the way things go are not what I had envisioned and making small changes to make it better is a challenge but worth it.

I was an older kid who had to watch her younger siblings, administer asthma meds, change diapers etc. Some kids may actually like to do that.
But it’s not fair to use your older kids as your au pairs. And it’s not fair to force the obligation on them because they’re in a big family.
They didn’t ask for it. It was your decision to have 17 kids.
Yes, it’s tougher to raise them without the assistance of your older children. But their childhood is over and you’re just roping them into a lifetime of responsibility. Childhood is fleeting. Take care of the diapers yourself.

As the older child I did too. I couldn't be more grateful to my parents and everything I learned.
