I hope it goes well for you! The 'embarassing' real life things are why so many people love and appreciate what you have to share. It's real and something that so many of us struggle with. We've found that decluttering and minimizing our belongings helps to keep things more manageable. Also an evening reset is a great way to end the day and get the house ready for the next.
I love that you addressed the example of the parent! It’s so easy for me to blame the kids when I am not setting the example. I have to force myself to ”do it for Future You!!!” Don’t put it DOWN, put it AWAY! Etc. ❤ from Iowa
Such a great idea :) I remember when I was 5 I had a friend of the same age who told me that she was not allowed to take a new game out / play with something new until she put the old thing away. I did not have a lot of boundaries at my house so I remember asking my mom if I could have that rule at our house too lol I think deep down kids like it too
I'm due to have my 7th child this month and that's the number 1 mistake I made with my oldest 2 who are teenager was that I constantly cleaned up everything after everyone including them so they never did it themselves. With my youngest 4 I have taught them to clean up after themselves and they do a good job at it. I was a teen mom so I wasn't super experienced with my oldest, but now I'm older and wiser and I know better now 😊
I love your honesty in this video Nancy. Some say minimalism is the key and i do agree it is helpful having less. I do think there is a balance though and the system where everything has a place and kids learn to return things to that place supports the balance of kids being allowed to own things while having the responsibility to manage them. Thanks so much for your honesty and humility in this video.
Large family here as well. I’m pretty sure my family motto is “Don’t put it down. Put it away or throw it away.” If it is a child that really struggle with to follow this rule, I will remind them 2 or 3 times that if they continue and I find their things, then I get to decide what to do with it. Whether I call them to me to out it away, or I throw it away. I am very clear when I am on their last warning. After that, what I find, I throw it away. Within reason of course. I always tell them at the end of the day that I threw away XYZ. It works VERY quickly to correct the behavior. Some things that we follow to make the above process achievable: We are as minimalist as possible. I make sure each child does not have more possessions than they can keep up with. This is different for each child depending on age, maturity, and motivation. Also like you mentioned, being the example. I don’t want to preach it, if I am not following it myself.
Good luck with the spring break cleaning project! I enjoy your videos, I only have two kids and seeing your nice attitude and demeanour with 17 helps me keep my cool with my little family :)
Love these tips. As a mom of 9 I have found the kids are motivated to get their chores done with the incentive of free time. As soon as they finish their school and chores they have free time. I like how you said to not put anything down anywhere, but to put it away.
I love it! Congratulations on having such a beautiful family and Baby number 17!!! Thank you so much for sharing !!! I have the same problem with not putting things away
This is great! I can’t wait to see how you and your family do with this. We have 8 kids and live in a 3 bedroom, 1500 square foot home. The messes are a never-ending struggle!
Oh ladies! That is a real struggle. Our home is 1800 sq ft for 8 people. We are moving next week to a new home and I’m very thankful! When we had an our last, twins, we went to ikea and found lots of great solutions for storing things like shoes and toys etc. that go up the wall. In case you don’t know about that.
I love this idea! I'm going to definitely follow along and implement them into my life and get my kids on board also! Thanks, I can't wait for all the future video's❤
My mom had 6 kids all under 18 and I asked her how she did it she said she doesn't remember. My son is 11 months with a second one on its way. I don't know how I'll manage. Y'all have some much. I admire you for the honestly
Thank you so so much for this video and your honesty along with it. This is so simple and feels attainable. So happy to see you posting more on TH-cam.
Maybe a helpful tip? 😀 I heard once from M is for Mama, that they have a rota for chores with the kids. However instead of the chore changing every week or month, they have a set chore for a whole year! So ‘Lucy’ is taking bathroom trash out the whole year, ‘Daniel’ is loading dish washer, ‘Mark’ is sweeping the dining floors after meals, ‘Amy’ is wiping down the table. She said it gets them really really good at the chore and also sometimes it can help some siblings bond where they might not always have be drawn to have that time together- for example- if ‘Mary & Chris’ are stacking dishes and drying cups for the year then they will be side by side and have that time each day to talk to eachother and bond. Adjust according to your family! 😀😀❤️❤️❤️ I prayed for you all that God would help you all do this 😀❤️
This was so helpful!! You are so nice to listen to… I think you would make such a lovely friend for the people all around you. I love the “I will have a campaign “ idea. Haha! Large families need to implement it differently… rally the team members, and run a campaign 😂❤ love it.
Thanks for sharing! 😄 I understand the struggle. Something that we do is "resetting" twice a day. After lunch, we ALL contribute in picking up the living room and bedrooms (we live in a ranch where those spaces are near each other and most commonly used). This means every single thing is put away- even something as small as a coin. Then during nap I clean the kitchen (the kids are too small to help). Then we do the same thing at night, where they help with picking up the living room and bedrooms.
I love your channel and appreciate all your helpful videos! Your laundry system changed the way we do laundry and we've stuck with it for a couple years now!
Thank you I appreciate your project as a grandparent. I raised a large family also. The habits of organization and discipline and certainly your faith walk are very important for generational healthy habits. I used color coding, I used milk crates for home educational books and supplies and certainly each child was responsible for their own belongings and their own room.
Oh my goodness yes! I was just thinking about this last night and this morning, trying to decide how to tackle it. I just had a miscarriage and I learned how inefficient my house is while I'm not running it. It became a mess so quickly. I praise God for giving me the desires of my heart and showing me they are His own too. Can't wait to take this spring break journey with you ;)
New fan. By chance it’s March 17th my youngest sisters birthday (4 beautiful children) we Live in Australia… you are so close to being my sisters Doppelgänger ❤❤ I’m a mother of five and we clean house like your sister 😊 It’s how we were raised in a family of 6 children. We were taught it’s better than sleeping outside 😂
I’m so grateful to have come across this video I’m constantly cleaning after my kids they won’t pick anything up unless it belongs to them 🙈I’m going to make changes , very late for my oldest 3 children but I’ve still 4 here and 3 grandchildren who live with me I’m gonna make them sit and watch your video haha 😂
Such good advice! Would love for you to make a video showing us how you do your hair and makeup. Maybe you have already...I'm new 🙃 I struggle with taking the time to do that with little ones. Need a simple plan I guess! Thank you!
I was in a work field where I had to train individuals to be productive. Key is doing the same pattern each time, like your sister does. Also teach your children to look at the space around themselves and ask them what needs to be done. It becomes a habit. Clean as you go and your home will never be messy. BUT make it fun! Keep us updated!!
Yes! Let's work on this together! I want to simplify more (we've been extreme decluttering for years but i think we need to take it even a step further) and get the kids to get into the habit of picking up without being told. The book atomic habits is life changing for any habit you want to instill.
Would you be willing to do a video about why you and your husband have so many children, how you do it, etc.? I’m genuinely so curious because I do glean knowledge from you. Children are a gift from God, arrows in one’s quiver. I have multiple children myself and when I think of having more, sometimes I feel so overwhelmed. I marvel at you and would just genuinely love to hear more about your mindset, etc.
Great idea! I will be doing a video about me and tell a lot more info. Not sure how soon that one will come out but it’s on the list 😊. Thanks for watching and for your comment
When your busy with the kids its so easy to be distracted with their next need and not finish the task like put the towels back etc i also find if im always on top of the kids i end up stressed and pestering them non stop, i prefer end of the day tidy ups, wish there was magic way of grtting them to tidy easily etc. I find sometimes saying ive chosen a special toy in the pile an whoever finds that toy gets a treat helps
This is great! I only have 3 kids at home right now and a granddaughter who stays a lot…but it’s always a mess 😅 I’ll try to do what you’re doing lol good luck to us both!
I use baskets to catch the random stuff and then put it away at the end of the day. Sometimes life happens and toddlers get into things, you can’t always do everything immediately. Nice baskets help lol Definitely having a place for everything is a must and cleaning as you go!
I would REALLY love a video on your parenting style. Particularly with babies as I just had my first baby 4 months ago. Do you ever feel like you’ve finally figured it out? I feel like you should be an expert after having 17. Also how do you manage a large family and a baby? It’s hard enough managing just my baby alone right now! She demands 100% of my time. In another video you said it is possible to spoil a baby. What does that look like? My husband and I are anticipating a large family so I have so many questions for you! Please please please do more!
I love your vidoes. It has help me a lot my two little ones . I truely love the budgeting vidoe honestly second hand does really help a lot saving money.
It would definitely be helpful if everyone would clean up after themselves... 😊 But, my house will always look lived in during the day, because we have a small house and the kids are always doing crafts, Lego etc and they play on the kitchen table as well as the floor. The littlest one likes to walk around with the toys so naturally they end up anywhere. For us, it would not be a realistic goal to have clear tables and floors because it would mean the kids wouldn't be able to do much...
Thanks for sharing!! That is very true and even for my house when the kids are in the middle of a project or in the middle of playing with something, of course it will be out and on the counters or table or wherever they may be playing with it, but the goal is the second they are finished playing with it, that it is immediately put away. Our family tends to leave it out when they are finished.
Hi, I appreciate you sharing your wisdom and experience with us. I’m a mom of 6 & don’t know how you do it. I do homeschool and breastfeed & was wondering if you do too. If not, maybe that’s what makes a full time job possible? I’d like to have a job for income, but haven’t figured out how to possibly take on more. I already feel so overwhelmed. I am very blessed though, thank God!
You are an amazing Mom! Even if your house is messy. We all do our best with what we have. I’m learning to be tidy at 39 and hoping teach my children the same ways. Progress not perfection! Only Jesus was perfect. :)
Parents need to remember they have to lead by example. If you want your kids to help out around the house, they have to see you practice what you preach. With so many people living under the same roof, that sounds pretty complicated.
Its alright. I've watched your videos ever since you started. Your kids are so cute. Do you just have one sibling? Also for ideas on videos i would love to see day to day lives videos of you and your kids and also grocery haul videos. Also videos of like what you made everyone for breakfast through dinner.@@RealMomRealSolutions
Can I ask what you have said or thought of people who have been rude when u tell them how many kids u have ? I have 8 possibly more . Also have u had any back pain ever from all the pregnancies? I'll so what has helped ty
Depending on how people ask the question of how many kids I have I answered a differently. If they ask, is this your first one I usually just say no I have several others and I don’t give them a number if they ask specifically how many I have I do tell them, but most of the time they are just in shock and don’t even really know how to respond. But every once in a while you do get those rude comments but I just ignore it walk away and think they have their life, this is mine and I try not to let it get to me. As far as back pain goes, I have had back pain during pregnancies. Sometimes it is a pinched nerve that eventually has gone away. Sometimes my back has been out and I have a chiropractor that I go to to have it put back in. One thing that for sure does help is when I am not expecting, I try to exercise as much as possible and strengthen my back, because weak back muscles, definitely make it harder to carry a heavy baby all throughout the pregnancy.
@RealMomRealSolutions I know u are busy so I just want to say ty for responding so nicely to my question, also how often do u think u see a chiropractor usually??? N when do u know u need to see one ? Ty again
Nancy could you share how old you were when you had your first set of children? Also how do u get back into shape postpartum if you fall pregnant early postpartum? Ty ty
Hi, I'm just curious. I just stumbled across your videos. Now that you have 17 kids, do you still plan on having more and why. Also, what age did you start. In an economy like this, how do you and your family cope. Please, I really want to know. It seems that you are or might be religious, are you. I'm a Christian, and I trust God with two kids, boys. I can't cope as much the bills are. High food prices are ridiculous. But they eat us my husband and I out of house and home lol. We live in an apartment, and we struggle to pay every bills. So I just want to know do you guys do it.
My problem is I choose to do certain cleaning because I feel if I do it’ll get done to my liking but I can easily feel like a maid if I’m sweeping, washing dishes etc. multiple times a day. My children are expected to keep their rooms up and they rotate each week on cleaning their bathroom but I do everything else which is exhausting and I still can’t keep a clean house.
So going off the comment I made earlier with my kids picking to tasks each cuz there's two of them and then I do the rest you have 12 living at home count how many rooms you have and then try to divide that by how many kids you have or you know each one get a room and then you do the rest you know that's another way to balance it out
Oh my gosh. That is all so true! My friend has lots of people and her home is always in perfect order. She starts from the littlest kids and makes sure she says "Who left the toys outside?" "Who left the toys in the living room?" "Who left their plate in the bedroom?" and they have to put it back where it belongs. Pretty quickly they learn to do it automatically. My other friend will take a sweater out of the closet, decide on a different sweater and lay it over a chair. Pretty soon she has 4 sweaters hanging on a chair. It takes just as much energy to hang it back up. Everyone's home gets out of control, especially if you have lots of people 💖💖💖
I agree! My husband always asked why I would put a spice back etc., because what if I needed it again and I said yes but what if I don’t.
Glad to see your posting more often,I really do enjoy watching them!!
I hope it goes well for you!
The 'embarassing' real life things are why so many people love and appreciate what you have to share. It's real and something that so many of us struggle with.

Thank you for sharing this. I only have 9 kids and have really been struggling with my house lately.
This is great! I can’t wait to see how you and your family do with this. We have 8 kids and live in a 3 bedroom, 1500 square foot home. The messes are a never-ending struggle!
Thank you and I can’t wait to see how we do with it either. Lol we will for sure share our results all along the way though.
I can relate to this struggle! We are a family of 10 in 1,900 square feet. Keeping items to a minimum, having homes for everything helps tremendously
Yes, so relatable! We are a family of 11 living in 1632 sqft, can’t wait to finish our basement to give us more living space 😊
This channel has changed my life! Super super helpful.
I love this idea! I'm going to definitely follow along and implement them into my life and get my kids on board also! Thanks, I can't wait for all the future video's❤

Thank you so so much for this video and your honesty along with it. This is so simple and feels attainable. So happy to see you posting more on TH-cam.
Bravo !! 21 days to create a habit. I guess I better get started.
We can all definitely benefit from these suggestions. You are amazing! Kudos to having a great family!
Adjust according to your family! 😀😀❤️❤️❤️ I prayed for you all that God would help you all do this 😀❤️
I can’t wait to see what you do! We are moving and I decided the new move will be perfect for implementing new standards.
Great solution and your a great mom
This was so helpful!! You are so nice to listen to… I think you would make such a lovely friend for the people all around you.
I love the “I will have a campaign “ idea. Haha! Large families need to implement it differently… rally the team members, and run a campaign 😂❤ love it.

Something that we do is "resetting" twice a day. After lunch, we ALL contribute in picking up the living room and bedrooms (we live in a ranch where those spaces are near each other and most commonly used). I love your channel and appreciate all your helpful videos! Your laundry system changed the way we do laundry and we've stuck with it for a couple years now!
That is awesome! Thank you so much for the comment and support
We have also been doing your laundry system for a couple years now because it works so well! I’ve told lots of mom’s about it too!
Same situation over here so I’m staying tuned! 😊
Great, thank you for following along
Thank you I appreciate your project as a grandparent. I raised a large family also. The habits of organization and discipline and certainly your faith walk are very important for generational healthy habits. I used color coding, I used milk crates for home educational books and supplies and certainly each child was responsible for their own belongings and their own room.
Thank you for sharing your ideas
So glad I'm not the only one! Lol I feel like a clean all day long and have nothing to show for it and we only have 5 kids. I'm rooting for you!
Thank you
Oh my goodness yes! I was just thinking about this last night and this morning, trying to decide how to tackle it. I just had a miscarriage and I learned how inefficient my house is while I'm not running it. It became a mess so quickly.
I praise God for giving me the desires of my heart and showing me they are His own too. Can't wait to take this spring break journey with you ;)
I’m so sorry for your miscarriage. Thank you for joining me on this journey and good luck to you.

Thank you for sharing. I needed to hear this.

Love your videos!
Where are you??? Looking for next vlog!!
You are an amazing Mom! Even if your house is messy. We all do our best with what we have. I’m learning to be tidy at 39 and hoping teach my children the same ways. Progress not perfection! Only Jesus was perfect. :)
Can you please share more of your workout routines and share eat in a day videos. ❤❤
How many days a week do you do weight training?
Great tips
Love this channel :)))
love this idea. I need my SO to be better about it. it's hard when someone in the house has ADHD. we will try. ha
I have 9 kids and is always like you say .
You look so young!
Hard to believe you have grandchildren
Thank you for the nice comment. I have seven grandkids now with four more on the way
The main secret for a cleaner home is to own less stuff 🤷♀️
That is extremely true also
yes. we are moving. We are downsizing, so we are decluttering big time. I hope our new home will be less cluttered.
Yes I agree with your statement . Minimalist with toddlers is the key to a clean home kids dont even play with all their toys .
That’s true but also teaching and instilling into our kids to clean up after themselves as well
Parents need to remember they have to lead by example. If you want your kids to help out around the house, they have to see you practice what you preach. With so many people living under the same roof, that sounds pretty complicated.
Does your sister have a TH-cam channel too?
No, she does not, sorry
Ty ty
I have two step kids still living at home i make a list of task and have them pick to each and what chores they don 't want to do I do the rest.
My idea is for you to get a few chickens : )
❤❤❤
Get rid of Unwanted stuff toys an clothes let the kids HELP😊
I agree 100%
Everyone's home gets out of control, especially if you have lots of people 💖💖💖
Wow…14 kids…how many grandkids do your parents have?
