Who else, besides me, thought it was an alien craft at the start? I'm annoyed that utube hasn't recommended this gem of a short before now. Kudos to everyone involved and thanks for uploading.
Hopefully, you haven't seen this. Full length Sci-Fi. Starts off extremely slow and mundane, but finishes at a cracking pace... th-cam.com/video/wuaTM_9E-pU/w-d-xo.html
Only one issue with that. Who judges those to be the best. A govt which we all know are such saints to pick ones who have vested interest. Like politicians sons and daughters.
I often wonder about the local effects of supernovae. How many civilisations stared into oblivion and had no choice but to accept the outcome? Leaving no record that they ever existed.
@No Gandalf - A great many, I suppose, but who knows? A sad thought. For what it's worth, the stars that go supernova are large, and thus short lived, suggesting that they probably won't have intelligent life in their systems. They can still do damage to nearby systems, but at least it's the kind of damage one can hide underground to escape. In the system of the exploding star, there will be no underground left to hide in. The planets will evaporate.
Great video! Nice twist at the end... The view point of the victim and the observer of this cosmic act of nature. The victim sees it as something terrible and disastrous while the observer sees it as something beautiful and wondrous. A curiosity of astronomical proportion. I loved it!
ok but in what sense is this science fiction? we've observed lots of supernovae...seems more like science fact. a nicely done, evocative if uncategorizable piece
There are remnants of intelligent life on the planet that gets destroyed and thus far there's no known intelligent extra-terrestrial life in the universe, hence fictional until proven fact.
Any species in that vicinity that didn't get away, before the sun went supernova. The astronomer just logged the event without giving it any thought. We were given the insight that at least one civilisation perished, likely long before the big explosion. Or maybe they manage space flight, but I doubt it.
We don't see the dying embers of the universe till long after the light goes out. Enjoyed, nicely done.

That was awesome!!! Thank you!
Fantastic acting! Clements should get an academy award for best actor.
My best performance, mostly due to me not opening my darn mouth ;)

😂👏👏👏
Some interesting visuals. Very impressive to look at. Well done.
Like Arthur C. Clark's "The Star" (1955).
Well done! A different kind of postapocaliotic film..
I enjoyed it. Thx!
Simple plot but charming and not at all obvious. (Love the eyepieces-changing scene!)
When it's our time we may have a record of us on a small voyager launched nearly half a century ago of only our best

Once you can see a supernova, if it is local enough you are dead already. I accept that civilizations have stared into it but they are long gone.
Nice job. Very creative and thought provoking😊
it reminds me clark ashton smith stories greetings from greece .
wow, awesome.
Nice one, Chris. Great stuff!
I liked the music on the film. Congratulation.

Something like in life there is death but in death there is life.
Very well done
Good short film :) thank
586 years ago a sun and its planets lost their existence and we're just seeing it.who knows someone may be watching ours in another 700 years
More like three or four billion years.
Looking into ancient time.Amazing
They left the light on.
In a galaxy far away.... :-)
Thanks !
Cheers Jack !
Thanks :)

Very sober

welcome to Icarus 2...
super nova??
Supernova...one unbroken word.
Not sure I get it. Someone mentioned victims. What victims? I didn't see any victims. I'm the victim - that's 5 minutes I can't get back!

Huh?
Hmm?
U remind me of three ex boyfriends...
That was boring. There was no story. There was no conflict. There was no dialog.
