This is one of the funniest comedy sketches of all time. From BBC. Starring Irish comedian named Dave Allen, the sketch was aired in the 70`s or 80`s on the BBC.
This is Ruislip, junction of Ducks Hill Road and Reservoir Road. The cafe closed years back but the building remained until 2020. The two women pushing the prams were not actors, they were people who lived a few houses up the street and were unaware of any filming .
Classic British comedy, classic Dave Allen💎I remember an interview from a Sunday paper in the late 70s where early in his career one of the most difficult things he had to do was keep a straight face outside in the rain while taking into a microphone covered with a condom .."it was the only way we could keep out the water!" he said 💎RIP Dave Auckland New Zealand 2024
I watched this on TV a long time ago as a child, and for several years after I somehow remembered it as being a Stanley Baxter sketch. Strange how memory can play tricks like that.
Holy cow, now this right here is classic comedy. We will never have humour again because, to top this, is just impossible. If i had a nickel for every time I laughed outwardly I'd have 10 pounds (get it, like in the skit). Anyways I'm gonna go cry into my hands because I know I'll never laugh or be happy again.
ive always hated these kinds of comedy sketches. maybe its because im just a super verbal person, but it always feels like cheap gags. the ending made me smile, ill admit it though
Can anyone help me identify a skit comedy show without dialog? It was probably early 90s, possibly late 80s, I guess british. Two main male characters, one hand mustache and pink spot on his black hair. In one episode he was celebrating his birthday in his room and nobody came. The other guy in one episode took a wooden beam and made a toothpick from it. That's what I can recall, I was a kid when it aired in the early 90s. I guess it's similar show to The baldy man, but in this ine I remember each skit/episode started with a still image and zoomed into it and the skit would begin.
There is something about these types of skits that make it just that much classier. No words spoken, smooth, slow, but so perfect
That's why I enjoy watching Mr. Bean. No cheap jokes or vulgar languages. Just pure foolery.
I agree
Maybe the music
witty and smart
No words spoken..?
British comedy, not many words, smooth and well build up to the end. Just love em
Now seriously, I didn't expect that!
same
same
Right 😂
Would've been even funnier if it turned out the cafe owner had set this up each time. :D
Brilliant
That what I thought! I was expecting that twist at the end…
Wouldn't surprise me if any actual Cafes got the idea from this.
lol just thinking the same 😂
Yes.. that is exactly what i thought. I was waiting for a thumbs up and a smile from the café staff/management
thats one good way of getting the customers lol
Dave Allen was a classic. Did a TV show here in Australia too.
You just cannot beat British comedy. Brilliant!
That's the best ending ever😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
This is the definition of old school comedy this is for sure something my dad would have laughed at lol
everything was so subtle. absolutely hilarious!
I was pleasantly surprised by the conclusion. Usually one can spot where such a thing will go. 🤣
Oh God! I was trying to think what the punchline was and it still got me!
British humour knows no bounds.
So does Bangla humour.
@Brian Howard humour* and also you forgot your gazillion laugh tracks to go alongside that comment.
Ironically, Dave Allen is Irish.

Thank you, just found it on Streetview thanks to your info. 🙂
I wonder why they chose to film it there. It's miles away from the BBC.
Love inside information

Did not expect that. Perfect. Just perfect.
It is the best ever. Not a huge fan of the late Dave Allen, but this is still top-drawer material.
Simple and briliant.
Gotta Love ❤️ Dave Allen👍
He was the don.
Can't beat British dry humor
The older the funnier as it is something that people would do 😂😂😂😂 🙌🏻💚🇮🇪
Good night and may your God go with you
Plot Twist: The restaurant owner put that note there and the car belongs to him 😂
Amazing XD
Denise that is so funny!!!Thank you!!! R.B.
Great sketch
No, I knew that was going to be the punchline as soon as he went into the café
Very nice sketch, but i'm afraid my first thought when he entered that cafe was 'everyone in there is doing the same as him'.
😂😂😂British comedy ! Superb!
Dave Allan was in a league of his own.

I think the guy with the vanilla-ish jacket would've got hold of the note
yep
Very funny, lots more of this please, let's be TH-cam mates?
This was good. 😁
Classic British humor
Always reminds me of the Monty Python milkman sketch
Pretty sure was setup by the coffee shop to get more customers 😂😂😂
The best EVER!!!!! I have found that to be true, from what little they know. Sorry. Reality is important to stay in, so I like to be precise.
It is funny though. :)
That 10 pounds is the equivalent of 193 quid today So 10 pounds was worth waiting for in a cafe lol
So funny😂
From the days when a tenner was worth chasing after.
ive always hated these kinds of comedy sketches. maybe its because im just a super verbal person, but it always feels like cheap gags. the ending made me smile, ill admit it though

Hilarious!!
The cafe owner's car and they put a fake note there.
This is great.

Dave Alen!
Just pure fun. No swearing. No nastiness or PC crap. What a classier and kinder age it was.....and packed full of talent, unlike today.
Bravo

There are better options for an ending, e.g. the cafe owners planted the money as bait.🤔

What's move name?
Sketch made in the early 1970s. £10 would have gone a long way back then.
What show is that?
All these people left without paying! Or do the pay first in England? Nonetheless, this was funny. We all think the same in some ways.
You pay first.
