That was helpful😇. I am thinking of custom building myself a pc specifically for VEP. what minimum spec do you think I should target so that I can run the Albion library series smoothly? Also if you could give the minimum spec for the entire OT Berlin series as well that would be fantastic! Cheers!

One question I have not been able to find the answer: do you need to have your VSTs/Plugins installed on the second [networked] computer ? Do you need to have two licenses, i.e. one for the main computer and one for the second [networked] computer or just one license for the second computer ? Thanks !!

If your using a second computer they will be on that computer. All of it connected to a network via Ethernet so both computers can communicate. You only need one license for everything.

wait wait wait! 800 tracks? 800?! I mean, I totally get where you are coming from, but I've stress tested my Mac Pro 2013 12 -core Xeon 128gb ram and ableton starts glitching out completely around 300. The CPU is around 30-40% and about 10-20gb ram is used, but the app itself is unable to stream more than 250 "tracks" in ableton. What's the catch? I also want an 800 track template! (most of then are for routing anyway..)

Oohhh there is no catch, you heard that right! I have a multi-computer setup. My 800 tracks are loaded on to my custom built PC and then routed to my Mac Studio.

@@Johnmunstudios yeah, I’ve recently discovered VEP and it seems to be exactly what I am looking for, even when used on a single machine. However, I see that most composers seem to use multiple computers. I have requested a demo license for VEP to test it out. What concerns me are the delays and other timing issues. I have tested opensource software called AudioGridder, which also loads plugins externally…the performance was..tolerable at best. Networking layers add a lot of overhead. I am looking forward to seeing how VEP deals with this. I’ve read they compress the data on the fly, which should help. Say, you work with so many tracks, is this setup suitable for pure live performances? Not just for usage in post processing, but actually triggering 100 tracks and playing everything as a live gig? Thanks!
